Chapter Five: Hellbound

     Well she's not bleeding
On the ballroom floor, just for the attention.
- Panic! At The Disco; Time To Dance

"I g-gave you the what?" I gulped as my sweaty palms pressed against the wall, frantically searching for support.

"You heard me." He smirked and outstretched two fingers, placing them beneath my chin. This forced me to look up at him as my lips trembled.

"W-What do you want from me?" I swallowed nervously as his cold fingertips brushed against my jawline.

"Nothing." He sighed, before turning away from me.

The stranger's back faced me while I touched where his fingers had previously been. I felt the cold patch of my skin as memories began to churn in my mind.

"I-It feels familiar." I murmured as he turned around, his dark gaze penetrating my own.

"What does?" He asked, moving closer to me.
I didn't know how, but it almost seemed as if he were gliding across the floor while he moved swiftly towards me.

"Your touch," My voice was just above a whisper. I felt myself shiver in fear.

In this frantic moment, the boy laughed.

He bent over, full on laughing, as I stared at him completely frightened and confused.

He wiped tears from his eyes and grinned.

After having his laugh, he sat down in front of me, cross-legged and tilted his head to the side as he observed me.

"You're cute." He blurted out and I gave him a look.

"I'm cute?" I felt too confused to blush or too confused to feel the blush as he pointed out the latter.

"See? You're blushing!" He cooed and reached for my cheeks but I gasped and scrambled to my feet before he could lay a hand on me.

"I'm not going to kill you." He chuckled and I gave him a murdering glare.

"Who are you?" I spoke with confidence and he threw his head back with laughter once again.

"Alec Walker and no one has asked me that in years." Alec offered me a wry smile.

"Right.. what the hell are you- or should I ask why you are in my room? Or why you're always touching me? And-"

"Stop." Alec held his hands up and I rolled my lips into my mouth immediately.

"You ask too many questions. So, I'll only answer the easy ones." Alec slyly winked as he stood on his feet with ease.

"Fine." I nodded and crossed my arms.

He smirked. "Firstly, I am a supernatural being, I am a ghost. I am a dead person, please gasp or scream now." Alec explained sarcastically as I opened my mouth with wide eyes, prepared to scream. He slapped a hand over my mouth immediately, muffling any noise.

Alec rolled his eyes. "Not really, Christ's sake, take a joke."

I nodded vigorously and he gently removed his hand.

"So..you're dead. H-How long have you been dead for?" I asked quietly.

"A little over a century- but if you want to get technical, I died in 1805 and we're in..2017- so 212 years." Alec leaned against the banister of my bed as he looked down at me.

I was fairly short, and he was quite tall. His stature towered over me, adding intimidation to the list of problems with him.

"How old are you, and how did you die?" I asked all at once and Alec smirked again.

"How I died, is none of your business-
at the moment- but I am seventeen. I've been seventeen for 212 years." He winked again and I involuntarily shivered out of fear again.

I nodded in silence.

By now, the music had gotten louder and Alec decided to sit on my bed.

"Halloween party, huh?" Alec broke the silence and I nodded. He chuckled and shook his head.

"Nothing to say now? What happened?" Alec watched me with amusement, curiously.

I glared. "You're a freaking ghost! Are you kidding me? And you're the one to blame! You scared me horribly with the whole 'Welcome To Hell' and throwing the glass-" Alec's amused smiled dropped as he stared with intensity, his mouth in a firm straight line.

"What do you mean "Welcome To Hell"? That wasn't me, Lilith. Why haven't you said anything?" Alec got up from the bed and began rubbing his face.

"Why didn't I say anything?! I just found out you're a ghost, I'm sorry if I fail to tell a dead person all the highlights of my life." I snapped at him and he rolled his eyes.

"It is very important you tell me these things. That wasn't me. That's not exactly normal for a ghost to act out that way." Alec bit his lip in concentration and crossed my arms.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"That was a hellbound." Alec stepped closer to me and I stepped back.

"What? What is that?"

"A hellbound is exactly what it sounds like. It's when you have done nothing good to get your peace. You have used the unfortunate incident that happened to you and took it out on innocent people. Basically, he has no way of finding peace at this point and he's practically a demon ghost forever." Alec grabbed my arm gently and ran his hand down to mine.

He traced his fingers against my palm and I retracted my hand, distancing myself as I against the wall.

"What does that make you?" I whispered almost silently.

Alec leaned closer, his hand pressed against the wall. "I'm just looking for peace and maybe something more." He whispered back and my breathing quickened as his eyes bore into my mine.

The vigorous knocking of the door made me want to push Alec away and jump back.

But before I could, he vanished right before my eyes.

The wild knocking continued as I searched for Alec everywhere. He really had vanished!

The annoying knocking sounded faster and faster as I hurried to the door.

"What do you want?" I snapped, realizing I was very loud, since for some odd reason, the music had stopped.

It was only 2:45 A.M., surely, high school parties lasted longer than this.

"Lilith!" The person said out of breath as he held onto the doorframe.

"Ellis? What're you doing here? I didn't know you were coming." I remembered his name from class a few days ago. He was the boy with the rude, annoying friend that made crude comments about me in literature class.

"Yeah, but that's beside the point. You need to come downstairs now. There's been an-an accident." Ellis's fumbled words are spoken out quickly and anxiously as I feel my heart race.

"Okay, let's go." I slam my bedroom door behind me. Ellis and I race down the spiraled stairs rapidly, so rapid I almost fell. With my heart and mind racing, Ellis gripped onto my arm and led me to the front door.

He stops in front of the closed door and takes a jagged breath.

"Lilith, what you're going to see..it-it's not,"

"Just let me go, Ellis." I feel a lump in my throat rise.

I placed a hand on the doorknob and glanced at Ellis briefly before opening the door.

Everyone crowded in a circle screaming, crying, and yelling. My eyes searched wildly for someone, something, anything.

I pushed through the crowd of teenagers as Ellis yelled my name repeatedly. When I finally got through, I let out a bloodcurdling scream and would've fell back if not for Ellis catching me.

There, on the grass, laid the corpse of Jessica.

Her stomach had been horrifyingly ripped open. Blood stained her pale skin as the words 'hell' were written on one cheek and 'bound' on the other, both in blood.

I felt myself grow nauseous as I pushed Ellis away. I ran toward an isolated area of grass and puked my stomach's contents.

Wiping the corner of my mouth with the back of my hand, I rested my hands on my knees breathing heavily.

A breeze carried leaves into the air as I stared into the dark night.

"Be careful, Lilith." Alec had whispered in my ear.
