Meeting You

Noiz's POV:

I was leaning against a wall in a small alley that overlooked Akuhi Street, 3 members of Ruff Rabbit talking in muffled voices behind me. One man, who went by the name of Chiru, approached me with a confused look in his dark brown eyes.

"Noiz? What're we waiting for?" He seemed hesitant to ask. I answered with moving, my eyes still fixed on the far and of Akuhi Street, straining for someone that hadn't appeared yet.

"A new recruit."

"A new recruit?"

"Yes."

"Fair enough." His confused expression vanished and he scratched the back of his neck, ruffling his maroon hair before pulling up his coil and shrugging. He shuffled away to the other two, who seemed to be less satisfied with my answer. I didn't care; apart from Chiru the other two were not people I knew well, but knew were tough and adaptable. Plus, we were in another gang's territory at the moment; so I didn't exactly want to come alone and appear weak in front of a neighbouring gang. I wouldn't mind fighting, but I was supposed to be competing in a tournament, not making new enemies.

Suddenly the mystery girl appeared, her hair curving gently in the slight wind that roamed through the street. She slowed her pace, her AllMate walking in large steps beside her, and looked around. When she couldn't see anyone a look of frustration crossed her delicate features and she crossed her arms in an irritated manner. I merely watched her, studying her movements and the way her eyebrow quirked slightly when she pulled a vexed expression. She seemed even more delicate in the soft light of the stars, but she held a potential to be dangerous; and I was afraid that was what was drawing me in. She said something to her AllMate and then turned on her heel and began to walk away; so I stepped out of the shadows and into the middle of the street, adopting a casual stance while the rest of my Ruff Rabbit troupe grouped behind me.

"Hey." I called, and the girl turned around instantly. I remembered then what her name was, Jinx; that's what Usui had announced when she had won the battle earlier today.

"Oh. So you did turn up, with a little gang too. I don't know whether to be disappointed or amused."

"I'm not here to hurt you."

"I'm sure every murderer says that."

"Murderers? That's extreme." Chiru grinned, raising his hands in defence. "I can promise you, miss, I've never killed another soul."

"Well... you don't look like murderers. But I know for damn sure one of you is a hacker."

"That would be Noiz." Chiru nodded towards me, and I met eyes with the girl. She glared at me for a moment before sighing.

"So... why did you ask me to meet you here?"

"I want you to join my team." I proposed my question with a neutral tone, but was shot down instantly.

"I told you I wasn't interested." She said swiftly.

"Why?"

"I don't know who you are."

"Ruff Rabbit."

"Never heard of them."

"So what?"

"You could be a rag-tag group of vagrants for all I know!" She replied, clearly exasperated.

"We're not, I can assure you."

"You aren't going to stop asking me... are you?"

"Not until you join my team." The girl sighed and looked visibly defeated, before shooting me a devastating glare.

"Fine. I'll join you're damned team! But I'm still going to win this tournament."

"I have no quarrel with that."

"Good. I'll see you tomorrow at the next battle." I nodded and we both turned on our heels simultaneously, walking away with - unknown to both of us - an identical smirk on our faces.
