Twenty eight - in which Simon just wants to talk...but Jace doesn't (AU)

A/N: This is a continuation of the last chapter, so check that out before you read this! There are some dirty descriptions in here so beware lmao. xxxx

---------------------------------------------------------

"For the last time, Jace, you need to talk to him about it!" Clary exclaimed, giving Jace an annoyed glare. "We've been at this for hours and you're just avoiding the inevitable! You guys have never gone not even an hour without talking, and this is freaking me out." she said, leaning over to take a bite out of the waffle with milk chocolate dripping down from the side. Jace rolled his eyes, taking his fork and slamming it into the food with way too much force. "It's weird. And it's all my fault. I didn't even know I..." the blonde started, but Clary laughed, not very amused. "That you like him? In that way? Jace, everyone knows, except you two. Seriously, do you have eyes?" she asked, glaring at him and pointing the small fork at his head. Jace slapped her hand, making Clary pull back, but the blonde gave another sigh. "I don't want to talk about it." he finally said. "You need to. And not to me, you idiot." she scolded, taking the last bite, making Jace give her a death glare. "You're paying." he stated and the redhead just waved him off dismissively, taking out her wallet.

When they stepped out, Jace's phone ringed. He glanced at the screen, seeing it was Isabelle. "Yes?" he asked hesitantly. "Jace, if you don't start talking to Simon again, I'll snap your neck." came the girl's irritated voice. Jace scrunched up his nose. "He's been at it for hours now, and I know so have you. Talk to each other, not us, and sort it out, you ignorant teenagers!" Isabelle almost shouted and Jace cringed at that. Before he could say anything, she'd hung up. He sighed and Clary looked at him questioningly. "Simon told me you are into me." Jace suddenly remembered, out of nowhere. The redhead snorted. "I like you, Jace, doesn't mean I want to sleep with you. Unlike you and Simon." she announced, hailing a cab. "What? I don't-" Jace started but Clary cut her off. "Yeah, yeah, save it. Just tell him how things really are and stop beating around the bush. He's your best friend, he won't judge you and it won't be weird." Clary said, opening the cab door and gesturing the boy to get in. Jace walked up to the car hesitantly. "And how would you know, big red?" he asked mockingly, but Clary just smiled brightly. "Call it a womanly intuition or just the fact that I have fucking eyes." she replied, shoving the blond in and giving the driver an address, before closing the door and waving at Jace.

Can't we just talk?
Can't we just talk?
Talk about where we're goin'

When the taxi pulled up at Simon's flat, Jace felt nervous, more than he ever had. Simon and he hadn't properly spoken in 2 days. It was very weird and upsetting. They used to talk all the time and texted, when they couldn't talk. Like when Jace had that trip to Japan or Simon had to give that concert in LA. They always texted each other, but now it had basically been radio silence for 2 days. He felt his heart pick up speed and his palms were sweaty when he raised his hand to knock on the door. Images of them on the couch, with Jace leaning in, sprung into his mind and he pulled his hand back, cursing at himself inwardly. Don't be a coward, Herondale. He breathed in, paced a few times and then, when he felt more relaxed, knocked on the door three times.

Before we get lost
Let me out first
Can't get what we want without knowin'

Simon was in his sweatpants and was wearing a graphic T-shirt. His hair were a mess and Jace realized it was just 10 o'clock on a Sunday, which meant Simon had been either sleeping or had just woken up. He again cursed himself for not thinking about that. After all, he knew Simon's sleeping habits. The brunette seemed fazed, his mouth slightly open in surprise. "Jace? What are you doing here?" Simon asked, hesitant, and this got Jace mad for some reason. "Visiting my best friend, what do you think?" he snapped and stepped inside. The place seemed like it always had, except the couch was littered with pillows and a blanket. Had Simon dozed off on the couch again? Jace shook his head, trying to not think about the couch and them on it. He turned, seeing Simon nervously wringing his hands and looking at him. His eyes seemed tired, just a little, but otherwise he seemed fine. Except he was never this nervous around Jace, which got him thinking - maybe they both were scared of talking about what happened?

I've never felt like this before

I apologize if I'm movin' too far

"Um, do you want coffee?" Simon asked and then closed his eyes, seemingly scolding himself. Jace knew why. They were acting weird, Jace never needed and excuse to come over whilst Simon never asked if he wanted coffee, he usually had it waiting for him. Jace nodded, still, and moved to the kitchen counter, taking a seat while slipping off his jacket. He watched as Simon moved around the kitchen silently. He noticed how his hips moved when he walked and how the muscles on his arms contracted when he reached for the coffee pot and poured it in the mugs. Jace tried to snap out of it, but suddenly Simon looked up at him, his eyes not revealing a clear expression and he felt lost in the brown orbs.

He realized Simon's mouth was moving. "What?" he asked weakly, realizing he hadn't heard a word Simon said. "I asked if you wanted to watch Full House with me? I'm on season 5." Simon repeated, looking at Jace with a curious expression. The blonde reached for his cup that now had cream and sugar in it. He smiled, at least something was normal. "Sure." he stated, getting up and walking towards the couch. "Sorry for the mess, I-" Simon started, but Jace finished his sentence. "-Dozed off on the couch. Did you watch Supernaturals without me?" he teased and Simon laughed, setting down his mug. "Wouldn't dream of it." he replied and started to remove the pillows. Jace plopped down, taking one of the pillows and placing it behind his back. For a moment everything was like it used to be, them bickering with each other and binge-watching a show.

Can't we just talk?
Can't we just talk?
Figure out where we're growin'
Yeah

When Simon sat down, he was weirdly far from Jace and the blonde noticed. He felt a pain in his chest, but closed it off immediately. Simon was wary, then. What was he thinking? Maybe this was a bad idea, to come here. Maybe he should've just...But Jace couldn't stop being friends with Simon, just like that. They had been best friends for so many years, how could he just stop? So he glanced at Simon, who was sipping his coffee, legs wrapped under him. "Isabelle called me." Jace started, thinking about how to bring it up. Simon didn't seem to notice his inner conflict and kept his eyes on the TV. "Oh?" he asked and Jace rolled his eyes. "Yeah. Didn't she call you? Or didn't you call her?" Jace pried and saw Simon's eyebrows knitted together. "Yeah, I did. Why?" he asked and Jace felt like they were speaking empty words, like they were speaking just because of the gesture of it. He set his cup down. "I was out with Clary this morning." he said and this got Simon's attention. Jace felt immense satisfaction when Simon seemed to deflate a little. "I didn't know you guys were such good, um, friends." he replied, his voice soft and small. Jace felt guilty almost immediately. "She was just giving me some advice." he quickly added, slapping himself mentally. No way Simon was not going to ask about that. As if on cue, Simon finally glanced at him, before opening his mouth. "What about?" he asked and Jace felt his throat tighten.

Started off right
I can see it in your eyes
I can tell that you're wantin' more
What's been on your mind?
There's no reason we should hide
Tell me somethin' I ain't heard before

"Um, actually..." the blonde started. This was it, the chance to talk about it. But he felt like an animal trapped in a cage with no way out. He did want to talk about it. At the same time, he just wanted to kiss Simon and make everything go away. Wait, what?

He coughed loudly at his own thought and Simon eyed him suspiciously. "You okay?" he asked, concern laced in his voice and Jace's heart warmed at that. He set his mug down and nodded. "Yes." he said and then he shook his head. "No." he said again, and Simon looked at him, searching his eyes with his. "Do you want to talk about it?" Simon asked worriedly and set down his mug as well. Jace's pulse quickened and he set his hands on his lap so they wouldn't shake. "Yes. It's about what happened... the other night." Jace said, trying to smile but couldn't look at Simon. The brunette made a sound and Jace forced himself to look up. Simon's eyes were closed and he had a pained expression. Oh no.

Oh, I've been dreamin' 'bout it
And it's you I'm on
So stop thinkin' 'bout it

"Look, I get that you may not want to talk about it, but I just, it's too weird, not talking to you. So maybe we should, you know, clear the air?" Jace asked carefully and Simon opened his eyes. They looked scared. "Okay. What do you want to talk about?" the brunette asked and Jace groaned inwardly. Why was Simon being so difficult? "You know what." he stated, staring at Simon and he saw the brunette shift under his gaze. Suddenly, Simon's hand went to his hair, making it even more of a mess than before and he bit his lip, thinking. Jace's eyes stopped at his lips and he felt the urge to bite that lower lip himself. "Um." Simon said and his eyes seemed glazed over, as he released his lower lip and swallowed, hard.

Jace wasn't sure what happened or where he even got the courage for it but suddenly he was right opposite to Simon, in his personal space, on his knees and looking at Simon's beautiful eyes, while he leaned in, his teeth capturing the lower lip of the brunette and he tugged at it slightly, making Simon let out the most sexiest noise Jace had ever hear. Simon's eyes went wide when Jace leaned back, unsure of what he had just done. All he knew was that he liked it.

Can't we just talk?
Can't we just talk?
Talk about where we're goin'
Before we get lost
Let me out first
Can't get what we want without knowin'

"What are you-" Simon started but Jace let his hand go around Simon's waist and he leaned in again. "Shh, just let me try this." he found himself whispering and Simon shut up, his eyes full of anticipation and confusion. Jace ghosted his lips over Simon's left earlobe, letting his breath fall upon in and he felt Simon shiver under his touch. He grazed his teeth over it and then moved to his lips, mesmerized by their fullness. Simon's lower lip was more plump then the upper one and they looked so good. "Jace..." Simon whispered, dazed at what was happening but Jace just leaned in again, letting his lips touch Simon's very slowly and just for a second. But it was so good, the tingling sensation ran straight to his groin and he thought he might be going mad. Maybe he just hand't gotten laid in a while. He moved his mouth closer again, placing a very soft kiss on Simon's lips, and he licked the lower one, before he pulled away. Simon's eyes were wide and the pupils blown as he watched how Jace darted his own tongue out, sliding it across his lips. Simon tasted of coffee, but also something sweet and fresh, like strawberries. Jace closed his eyes for a brief second, savoring it.

I've never felt like this before
I apologize if I'm movin' too far

"Weren't we supposed to talk?" Simon asked weakly and Jace opened his eyes. He raked his eyes over Simon's body, staring at his biceps that were visible from under the T-shirt and he longed to touch his body with his fingers. "We are." Jace countered, leaning in to place a chaste kiss on Simon's collarbone. Simon let out a sigh and then looked up at the ceiling. "That's not talking." he replied, but he didn't seem to want to start himself either. Jace chuckled. "Alright, we can talk." Jace said, sitting back so he wasn't so close to Simon anymore. The intoxicating atmosphere let loose a little and Jace could breathe again. Maybe it was for the best, they wouldn't have gotten very far with the talking, if he'd stayed so close. Simon seemed disappointed and content at the same time. It made Jace laugh. "What?" Simon asked, pouting and Jace stopped. "Aren't you the cutest." Jace mentioned and Simon blushed furiously. He straightened his shirt. "I'm guessing that what happened a few nights back, or almost happened...you don't regret it?" the brunette asked, his voice calm and calculative.

Jace smiled. "No. Do you?" he asked back and Simon shook his head. "Well then, what now?" the blonde asked. Simon shook his head again. "I mean this is...weird, right?" he asked, eyeing the blonde who seemed lost in thought. "You mean, if we'd date? I don't know." he answered truthfully and Simon groaned. "That's not an answer." he retorted but Jace just smirked. "Yes, it was. Maybe not a good one, but it was." he replied, making Simon grab his hair in frustration. "I don't know what to do with this information. I mean, do you want to try?" Simon asked and Jace leaned towards him a little. "You? Yes, I want to try." he said vaguely and Simon went a little red again. "That's not...Jace, stop avoiding the questions." he said but the blonde just smiled at him smugly. "Fucking hell, you're impossible." Simon said with annoyance, and Jace laughed, but before he could retort, Simon was suddenly on him, in his lap straddling him and kissing him.

Can't we just talk?
Can't we just talk?
Figure out where we're growin'

Jace felt Simon's hand on his hips, his fingers harshly squeezing them and he gasped when Simon pushed into him, realizing that they were both hard. Simon slipped his tongue into his mouth and Jace could feel the amazing sensation of desire run through him. He made a noise he was not particularly proud of but it made Simon smile into the kiss so he was fine with it. His right hand went into Simon's hair and the other went under his shirt, his fingers trailing a line on his lower back. Then, he let his fingers reach the upper part of his back, and while he slid them down, nails digging into the skin, the other hand tugged at Simon's hair and the brunette moaned into the kiss, grinding down on him furiously and Jace let out a strangled noise, between a growl and a moan.

Then, Simon suddenly jerked back, shuffled off him and put some distance between them .Jace sat dumbfounded, still panting and feeling his growing erection throbbing. He could scream in frustration, but to his pleasure, Simon didn't look any better. Simon held up a shaking hand and was breathing hard. "Wait, wait. We can't just-" he said, trailing off and Jace rolled his eyes. Simon was always the one to overthink things.

Penthouse view, left some flowers in the room
I'll make sure I leave the door unlocked

Now I'm on the way, swear I won't be late
I'll be there by five o'clock

"What? Fuck? I don't mind. I know for a fact you wouldn't either." he said bluntly. Simon shook his head, trying to move away when Jace approached him. "I mean, yes- I mean, no, that's not what-" he stammered and Jace smiled wickedly, letting his hand move onto Simon's thigh. The brunette closed his eyes and took a shuttering breath when Jace's hand glided over his inner thigh. "I just think we should talk about what this means for us." he finally said, his eyes locking with Jace's. The blonde got on his knees again and looked down at Simon, putting his hand under his chin to look him in the eye. "It means, we are still best friends, but you are also mine, and only mine." he said clearly, enjoying the crimson blush creeping over Simon's neck and cheeks.

Oh, you've been dreamin' 'bout it
And I'm what you want
So stop thinkin' 'bout it

"Don't overthink this, babe." Jace said and leaned down to kiss Simon again, and this time the brunette complied silently, letting Jace push him down on the couch, straddling him. Jace let his hands slide under his T-shirt, slipping the fabric off Simon and the brunette smiled, when Jace stopped to admire him. "So fucking sexy." Jace announced and Simon smirked. He reached up, tugging at Jace's T-shirt and the blonde took it off, throwing it somewhere in the room. Jace let his fingers run over the brunette's abs, carefully inspecting every curve and the hard muscles underneath. He pushed down on Simon a little, when he leaned in to kiss him again, and Simon made a sound, which Jace captured with his lips. When their tongues were busy dancing with each other, Jace slipped his hand into the waistband of Simon's pants. The brunette moaned loudly when Jace gripped him through his boxers. The blonde smiled, loving to see and hear Simon fall apart under him. Why hand't he done this earlier?

Can't we just talk?
Can't we just talk?
Talk about where we're goin'

He bent down to kiss and suck on Simon's neck, while he stroked him through the fabric of his boxers. A string of curse-words fell from the other boys lips when Jace bit down hard on the soft skin, making sure to leave a red mark. Simon's eyes flew open and they were full of want, making Jace shiver under the gaze. Simon's hands went into Jace's hair and he pulled, hard, and the blonde let out a strangled moan, closing his eyes again in pleasure. "You have a hair-pulling kink?" Simon asked, amused, and his voice was hoarse. Jace opened his eyes. "Maybe." he replied, not really knowing what Simon would do with that knowledge. The brunette just smirked, a wicked glint in his eyes and he leaned up on his elbows, to kiss Jace's jawline. "I love it." Simon stated, biting on the skin and Jace moaned again. Simon pulled him down flush against him, his hands going to the waistband of his jeans. It didn't take long before they were both in their boxers.

Before we get lost
Let me out first
Can't get what we want without knowin'

Jace stared down at Simon, not really sure what to do next but Simon bucked his hip, smirking. "Go on." he said simply and Jace raised an eyebrow. He knew Simon was the controlling one in all of his relationships, that much they had talked about (even thought it always sparked a jealous cord in Jace's heart). So for him to give it up, made Jace even more excited than before, if that was possible. He leaned down, biting Simon's lip while his fingers slid into his underwear, about to take it off.

Nothing in this universe made Jace more mad than the stupid doorbell at that moment. When the sound echoed inside the apartment, Jace groaned in such frustration, it almost made Simon laugh. He put a hand on Jace's chest, not even panicking, but the blonde shook his head, pushing him back. "No way. It has to be Isabelle. And I don't care if she has to stand there for like an hour, I'm not letting you answer that door." he said sternly, making Simon raise an eyebrow. "Oh, really?" he asked, wiggling his eyebrows and Jace smirked. "Simon, I swear to god, you can't imagine half of the thing's I'll do to you if you answer that goddamn door right now and I promise you, it won't be pretty." he warned, his eyes now glazed over and speaking in an authoritative manner. Simon swallowed, but then, to Jace's complete surprise, sat up, pushing him away. Simon got up, smirking at Jace. "We'll just have to see about that." Simon replied and pulled up his sweatpants. Jace made a protesting noise, but didn't have time to argue, since Simon went towards the door. Reluctantly, he pulled up his jeans, but didn't bother with the shirt.

I've never felt like this before
I apologize if I'm movin' too far

"Um, hi?" Isabelle asked, raising her eyebrows while looking from Simon to Jace. She deiced not to comment on the fact that they weren't wearing shirts. Jace waved his hand, although he was still very mad at her. "Did you guys make up?" Isabelle asked happily, strolling in and sitting on the armrest of the couch. "We were in the process of it, when you decided to barge in unannounced." Jace stated, making Simon whip his head towards him, a warning in his eyes. "Oh, sorry." Isabelle said, oblivious to the innuendo Jace was implying. "I just wanted to check up on Simon. We were supposed to go the gym today, remember? It's almost 12." she pouted, looking at the brunette. Simon slapped his forehead. "I completely forgot." he said, but Isabelle had now noticed the disheveled appearance of the two, not to mention the red hickey on Simon's neck. "I bet." she said smugly, waving her finger at them. "It's no problem, I'll ask Alec. I should go, Jace looks like he's going to murder me." she commented, and Simon's head turned to Jace, who just shrugged. Isabelle laughed. "Bye, lovebirds, don't do anything I wouldn't do!" she chimed as she walked out the door.

Can't we just talk?

Simon closed it behind her and then noticed Jace walking towards him, like a lion stalking prey and he didn't like the mischievous glint in his eyes. The blonde strode closer, making Simon back up towards the wall. "Um." he only said and Jace smirked. "Um, indeed. I told you, you won't like what happens if you open the door." he replied and raised his hand, a pair of metal handcuffs dangling from it. Simon eyed them, wide-eyed and surpised, and swallowed visibly. Jace leaned in, kissing his neck and licked it, before biting it. Simon moaned and Jace smirked again. "Okay, maybe just a little..." he whispered and pushed Simon against the wall.

Can't we just talk?
Figure out where we're growin'
