Visiting the daycare

Jimin never liked sending his kids away. He was constantly scared that he may send his kids off one day and not get them back... in reality he knew the likelihood of that happening was extremely low, but he just couldn't help but listen to that gut feeling. That's why he still hadn't sent Yoongi to a preschool or a daycare or anything. He just struggled to let his kids out of his sight in fear that something might happen to them. Of course, this was also the main cause of tension in his relationship with his wife. She trusted people. Jimin didn't dare trust anyone except from close friends and family.

But he was getting desperate. He barely had enough money to feed his family, let alone pay all the bills and taxes he needed to pay. He needed to get a job. But he couldn't help but feel intense fear over the thought of handing his child over to someone he didn't know. Which is why on this particular day he felt extra nervous. He was going with Yoongi to check out a daycare. He called them asking if he could just go and get to know the place, to help calm his fears and know that Yoongi would be safe there.

He went to go wake up kookie and get him ready for school. Jungkook let out a long groan, and he climbed into his school uniform.
"I don't wanna gooooooo." He whined, and Jimin quickly shoved some cereal in a bowl for kookie.
"I'm sorry kookie, you should know this by now, you have to." Jimin said, placing the bowl in front of him and throwing a spoon on the table. Even Jungkook could tell that Jimin was stressing today. Jungkook just eyed up Jimin as he grabbed the spoon and poked at the cereal.
"Please eat it kookie, we don't have time for this." Jimin said, rubbing at his eyes with a sigh. He went to Yoongis room and woke him up, and got him some breakfast. Yoongi babbled happily, spitting out random syllables as he chomped gleefully on his cereal and danced to himself. Jimin rubbed his eyes again, and turned to face away from the kids so they didn't have to witness his desperate attempt at calming his anxiety. But Jungkook was old enough to know what was going on, but he just sat nervously observing, not really knowing what to say.
"Ok go brush your teeth kook before the bus gets here." Jimin said, taking the bowl from him and putting it in the dishwasher while Jungkook hesitantly headed off to the bathroom to brush his teeth.

"The bus is here!" Jimin shouted, and Jungkook skidded through the hall grabbed his bag and shoved his shoes on.
Jimin made sure to kiss him goodbye and hug him tightly, as he did everyday, and watched as he walked into the bus, and waved Jimin goodbye.

As soon as the bus pulled away, Jimin speed walked to the bathroom, while Yoongi continued to nosh absentmindedly on his cereal.
Jimin shut the door, breathing heavily. He took deep breaths, running shaking hands through his hair. All he could think about was Jungkook, getting hurt or something happening to him at school. He got those same thoughts everyday, but today they were so loud in his mind he couldn't ignore them or just brush them off. He continued his deep breaths, wiping away tears as he went. That was until he was interrupted by Yoongi shouting for him. Jimin hurriedly wiped his tears away, and went to go tend to Yoongi.

"What is it honey?" Jimin said, with a lot lower tone than usual. He tried so hard to speak like normal to Yoongi but when he was feeling this much anxiety it was hard.
" 'm done." Yoongi said, pointing to the empty bowl.
"Ok honey," Jimin says, grabbing it and putting it in the dishwasher.
"Let's get you changed honey." Jimin says, wiping away a few more tears, lifting Yoongi up off his seat and holding him close. He seriously didn't want to leave this child alone with someone else. Jimin held back a sob as he walked to Yoongis room with him, letting out a shaky exhale. Every part of him just wanted to bail on the whole plan and just stay at home with Yoongi all day, but he knew it would have to happen someday, and it would never get easier.

He placed Yoongi on the ground, and rummaged through his draws to find an outfit for him. Jimin sat on the ground in front of him and went to get him changed before Yoongi spoke.
"Why daddy crying?" Yoongi asked, purely curious. Jimin stops in his tracks, wiping under his eyes again, and sniffing.
"What do you mean honey? I wasn't crying." Jimin says, undoing Yoongis onesie to get him changed. Luckily Yoongi was easily distracted, and just started giggling at the ticklish feeling.
Jimin got Yoongi dressed and ready, and the time came, to take him to the daycare. He kept reminding himself that he would be with Yoongi all the time this time, to keep himself from spiraling into panic again.

He sat on the bus, Yoongi in his lap, happy as always.
"You gonna have fun today Yoongi?" Yoongi babbled again, happily swinging his arms around.
"Yeah? You're gonna make some new friends!" Jimin said. Lord he hoped they would be friends, and not enemies.
"Yeah!!" Yoongi babbled, not even really knowing what was happening.
They got off, Jimin making sure Yoongi thanked the bus driver. They walked to the daycare together, Yoongi happily skipping along side him. He was such a happy child.

Jimin took a deep breath, and entered the daycare.
"Hi, are you Jimin?" The woman at the desk says, as soon as Jimin entered.
"Uh, yeah."
"You wanted to look around yeah?"
"Um, yeah."
"Ok, just follow me." She said, coming out from behind the desk, and it wasn't long before Yoongi was babbling happily in attempt at communicating with her.
"Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!" Yoongi said, a little too loud.
"Hello there little one! What's your name?" She asks, bending down to Yoongis level. Jimin watches nervously. His mind played out a scenario, seeing her bend down to Yoongi, and suddenly slapping him, pulling him around, straight up abusing him. He took a deep breath, and shook his head, shaking that thought out of his head, and was pulled back to reality. She was still crouched in front of him, smiling happily.
"Yoongi!" Yoongi said happily, bouncing on the spot.
"Wow what a pretty name! How old are you Yoongi?" She asked enthusiastically. Jimin was starting to feel a little better.
"Three!" Yoongi said, holding three fingers up. The daycare worker stood back up and looked at Jimin with glowing eyes.
"He's such a cutie isn't he. Such a happy child."
"Haha yeah," Jimin says awkwardly, ruffling Yoongis hair.
"Do you just wanna look around?" She asks.
"Yeah, I just wanna get to know the place I guess. Sorry, I guess I'm just a bit protective over him and I get scared to leave him alone with someone else." Jimin confesses.
"Don't apologize! Honestly everyone feels the same way. We get tons of parents who are scared to leave their kids. It's completely normal." She assures, that alone made Jimin feel much better.
"Just come through here and I'll show you around." She said, guiding them into the brightly coloured play room filled with toys and all sorts of fun activities. Yoongi looks with wide eyes as let's out a dramatic gasp. It looks like his own personal heaven.
"Do you wanna go play yoonie?" Jimin says, and Yoongi doesn't even reply. He just runs off, and starts playing.
While he's having fun, the daycare worker and Jimin start a conversation.
"So does he have any siblings?"
"Yeah, one brother, Jungkook. He's 8. He's at school at the moment."
"Are you going to send Yoongi to school?"
"Yeah. I was thinking of sending him to preschool, but he's a little behind in his development and I don't want to send him to school when he's not ready."
"Yeah, that's understandable."
Yoongi comes over, showing Jimin a toy he found.
"That's great honey." Yoongi, satisfied with that response, went off to go play again.
"Do you have a day job?" She asked.
"No, I'm still looking. I just get money from art commissions and stuff. And my wife sends us money."
"What does she do?"
"She works for a company in America, hasn't been home for 2 years now." Jimin says. Whenever he starts talking about his wife he starts feeling down. He just wants her to come home.
"Aw no, that must suck."
"She keeps telling me I need to get a job to care for the kids, but it's just hard when I have no one to look after them."
"Hmm, that's understandable. I hope you find a good job soon."
Yoongi patters over again, with a colouring he did of a cat. More like an attempted colouring. He handed it to Jimin, awaiting praise.
"Wow that's amazing honey!" Jimin said with fake enthusiasm.
"Daddy, I need potty." Yoongi says, his hands pinned between his legs.
"Where's the bathroom?" He asks the worker, and she quickly pointed them in the right direction Jimin took his hand, and Yoongi waddled next to him.

Jimin sat him down on the toilet, and started a little conversation while Yoongi did his business.
"Do you like in here Yoongi?" Jimin asked. Yoongi nodded enthusiastically.
"How would you feel if you stayed here while daddy went to work, huh?" Yoongi nodded again.
"Yeah? You would like that?" Yoongi giggled, reaching his arms out to Jimin.
"Ok, what do we do now?" Jimin said, continuing the potty training even out of the house. Yoongi thought for a bit before pulling on the toilet paper.
"Yeah, good boy." Jimin said, confirming, and Yoongi ripped a piece off, cleaned himself up, and dropped the paper into the toilet.
"Good boy! Well done!" Jimin said, holding a hand up for a high five. Yoongi gladly accepted the high five with a proud giggle.
"What now?" Jimin prompted, and Yoongi thought for a second, before twisting round and pressing the flush.
"Yes! Good boy!" Jimin says, as he lifts him off the toilet and helps him pull his pants back up and do them up.
"What now?" Jimin prompts again, and Yoongi holds his hands up and rubs them together to signal washing his hands.
"Yes, good boy. Let's go to the sink." He says, guiding him over to the sink. Jimin helped him wash his hands, mainly just so he could also wash his own hands at the same time.

He came out of the toilet with an extra happy Yoongi, and was greeted by the daycare worker again.
"Potty training?" She asked.
"Ah, yeah. He's nearly got the hang of it. Just needs a little prompting." Jimin said, and Yoongi ran off back to the play room again.
"Do you have any other questions?" She asked, making sure Jimin was happy to leave his kid here.
"Umm... I guess this is a bit of an awkward question but... do you check... all your staff... for yknow... criminal records and stuff?" Jimin trails off, feeling a little awkward for asking that kind of question, but it was something he had to be assured of.
"Don't worry that's not a bad question at all! Of course we make sure all our staff are safe for the children. And if anything happened to happen, we will take full responsibility. But it's highly unlikely as we make sure to thoroughly assess our staff before we leave them unattended with the children. So don't worry, he will be very safe here." She said, and Jimin let out an internal sigh. Maybe everything will be ok in the end.
