Muggle Date
I can't believe it. Lily asked me on a date! I didn't ask her! She just came up to me after dinner and asked me.
Sirius and Remus took me to the hospital wing, thinking I had finally lost it. Then, when they realised that I wasn't joking, they ran off and dragged Lily back to the hospital wing with them, thinking she was under a love spell or potion or something.
But here I am. Sitting in a muggle café, opposite Lily Evans.
"What would you like?" A waitress asks while smiling at me.
Lily clears her throat, "Vanilla chai latte please. Large."
"And you?"
"Uh, the same I guess." I glance at Lily.
The waitress nods and leaves after winking at me. I turn my attention back to Lily, who's glaring at the table. I reach over and take her hands in mine.
"What's wrong?" I ask her.
"Nothing."
"Lily, what's wrong?" I repeat.
She sighs, "It's not a big deal."
I squeeze one of her hands, "Lily, if it's the fact that the waitress was staring at me, then don't worry. I've been waiting for this moment for years."
I can see her force a smile on to her face, but before I can say anything else, the waitress appears with our drinks.
Lily removes her hands from mine and lifts her drink to her mouth. I copy her and wince at the taste.
"How do muggles drink this?" I hiss as I place my cup back on the table.
Lily wipes some foam from her upper lip and stifles a laugh, "It's the closest thing to butterbeer in the muggle world. How do you not like it?"
"It's so sweet." I wrinkle up my nose.
"So is butterbeer, you git." She lets out the laugh she was holding.
"Can we go get butterbeer? Please?" I give her my pleading eyes.
"Fine," she sighs and goes up to the counter to pay.
She returns and grabs my hand, pulling me out of the seat. I notice that she's dragging me towards the bathrooms.
"Uh, Lily. Won't it look weird if we go into the bathroom together?" I ask awkwardly.
"Oh, you're right. Um," she pauses to think.
Before I can suggest that we go out on to the street and find an alleyway, she throws herself at me. Her lips crush against mine desperately and I let my hands grip her waist. I keep my eyes open and walk us into the closest bathroom- which happens to be the women's.
Once inside, Lily pulls away sheepishly and I fix my glasses.
"Sorry. That probably made it worse. That waitress is probably going to get the manager in here to kick us out."
I slide my hands around her waist again with a smirk, "I don't mind. I got a kiss out of the whole thing."
She glares at me and steps backwards, "Let's just get going. You can apparate, I'm not very good at it and I don't want you to get splinched on our first date."
"Okay. Hold on," I say as I wrap my arms around her again and she wraps hers around me.
I spin my heel and feel the tug behind my stomach. Before I can close my eyes, we're in Hogsmeade. I look down at Lily. Her face looks rather green and she immediately steps away from me to bend over a bush.
"Lily? You okay?" I ask as I move to pull her hair out of her face, just in case.
She nods and stands up, the colour back in her face, "Let's get your butterbeer."
I link my hand with hers and lead her into the Three Broomsticks. I want to talk to Lily before we order, so I take her aside and smile down at her.
"Lily."
"Yes, Potter?"
"This has been the best date ever."
She smiles. "Thank you, James. For everything."
