Part 3

The group had been traveling through a desolate stretch of road for hours, the sun beating down relentlessly. Everyone was tired, sweaty, and irritable.

“We need shade,” Rick muttered, wiping his brow. “And water. We’re not gonna last much longer like this.”

“I can’t feel my legs,” Rosita groaned, trudging behind Glenn.

“Think my brain’s fried,” Abraham added. “Literally.”

As if on cue, Daryl’s voice came from the back of the group. “Jihyo, you got any miracles in that bag of yours?”

Jihyo, who had been skipping along without a care in the world, paused and tilted her head. “What kind of miracle?”

“Shade, water, maybe a freakin’ oasis,” Glenn muttered sarcastically.

Jihyo frowned thoughtfully. “Oh, okay. One second!” She swung her backpack around and began rummaging.

“Here we go,” Abraham said, shaking his head.

“No way she has—” Glenn started, but his words trailed off as Jihyo pulled out a large beach umbrella.

“Will this work?” Jihyo asked, holding it up with a bright smile.

The group froze.

“That’s not real,” Rosita said, blinking. “Tell me I’m imagining that.”

“It’s real,” Daryl muttered, his expression unreadable.

Jihyo opened the umbrella and held it above her head, spinning it slightly. “See? Instant shade!”

“Where the hell did you even find a beach umbrella?” Glenn asked, his voice somewhere between disbelief and frustration.

“I found it by the coast a while back,” Jihyo said simply. “Thought it might be useful one day.”

Rick was staring at her like she’d grown a second head. “Okay, but that doesn’t solve the water problem.”

“Oh, right!” Jihyo rummaged through her bag again and pulled out a large insulated water bottle, followed by another, and then another.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Rosita said, grabbing one of the bottles and inspecting it.

“How do you fit all that in there?” Abraham asked, gesturing at her seemingly normal-sized backpack.

“It’s just packing smart!” Jihyo replied cheerfully.

“You pack like a magician,” Daryl muttered.

The group drank gratefully, their complaints momentarily silenced.

But as they rested under the shade of the umbrella, Rick couldn’t help but ask, “Jihyo, do you ever run out of things in that bag?”

“Oh, sometimes,” she said with a shrug. “But then I just find more stuff!”

“Like what?” Glenn challenged, raising an eyebrow.

Jihyo thought for a moment, then dug into her bag again. After a few seconds, she pulled out a small, foldable camping chair. “Like this!”

Rosita stared at the chair, then at Jihyo. “I give up. She’s not human.”

Abraham chuckled, shaking his head. “I don’t care if she’s magic or not. As long as she keeps pullin’ miracles out of that bag, I’m good.”

Jihyo smiled innocently, setting up the chair and plopping down. “I just like being prepared!”

The group sat in stunned silence, sipping water and marveling at their walking, talking miracle.
