Ten years later she was a Grammy nominated, chart topping rockstar with the world at her feet.

If only she'd known that her childhood tales would one day become her origin story.

She was born to be a star and everbody knew it. A mane of flames, that was the first thing people noticed when Roxy Sloane entered a room, then it was her laugh, the way her starry eyes would follow a select few people around said room, and to be one of those people was said to be a great honour. She had a level of confidence that seemed innate to only the young woman who'd spent her early adult years grafting making a name for herself across the states and beyond. And yet one might presume a woman with a talent like hers was wasted in the supposedly mundane Cotswolds.

The world thought they knew Roxy Sloane, or at least they saw her for the star she was rather than what it took to get her there and ultimately keep her there. She'd sacrificed and lost more than most, and if she were to look in the mirror, she wasn't sure she'd recognise the person that stared back at her.

Declan O'Hara presumed that he knew her when she walked onto the set of his television show. He was content in believing that with his 'extensive' research he had her all figured out, that portrait he'd painted of her was an entirely accurate depiction. But she was a complex woman, as Declan himself remarked, 'an impossible woman who seemed to revel in being considered a jezebel.'

at last - here's the declan o'hara fic i promised you! I couldn't not write a fic for rivals, especially for declan and i'm so excited to give you this story!

potential triggering topics in this story include: alcohol & drug use, age gap relationship, affairs, sexual content, violence and discussions surrounding sexual assault.

also a polite psa: as with some of the characters in rivals, roxy isn't necessarily immediately likeable, she's complex and that means there'll be some things she says and does that you won't agree with, just bear in mind that she has her reasons for doing so (which we will unpack in the story)
