"She's dying, Adam," Aaron says choked up. "How did she get so bad so quickly? She was fine when we left yesterday."
"Rejection. She thinks we rejected her." Adam thinks through everything it could possibly be and that's the only thing that fits. "All we had to do was let her know we were okay and the fight was finished." Adam is beyond sick. He knew that Julie was waiting anxiously for word about the fight. He thought his brothers would have let her know. Apparently they thought the same thing.
Adam calls Arthur, 'Find out when Julie was last able to keep down the blood.'
Arthur links back, 'Last night. She tried drinking this morning and couldn't keep it down. None of the pregnant females could.
'Adam how is she?' Arthur needs to be with both Michelle and Julie, but his priority right now is Michelle.
'She's dying. Her aura is nearly completely gray. If she was able to have blood last night there might still be a chance to save her and the babies.' Adam doesn't want to think about the alternative. Life without Julie just doesn't bare to be thought about.
"Aaron prepare the blood transfusion, all of the fathers will need to put their blood in. She can't keep it down so we'll have to send it to her intravenously. We're going against a clock here, she doesn't have much time." Adam orders and takes up Julie's other hand. Alex had taken the one he had earlier back.
Aaron had raced out of the room and called the others to him to let them know what needs to happen to save Julie. Aiden, Arthur and Azlo go to him and donate the blood then return to their wives doing what they can to get them to forgive them.
In Arthur's case he's not having much luck.
Aaron adds his blood to the mix and a little extra for Julie before returning to Julie's room. Alex adds his blood and finally Adam adds his, he too adds extra for Julie.
Deftly Aaron inserts the IV needle into Julie's vein and once it's set has the blood go into Julie's body as fast as her body can accept it. He's never seen anyone absorb the blood so quickly before.
Aaron sits on the bed and gently strokes Julie's hair and murmurs to her. "I'm sorry Julie, so sorry. I should have let you know. I never even thought of it I was so focused on finishing the unpleasant task and returning back to you. That's all I could think about ya know, is getting back to you. Fight this, Jules. Fight this just like you did before after Alex.
"Alex is in tears, he's so upset. He thinks he is at fault again. Fight this and give us hell afterwards, but you have to fight it.
"We need you Jules, all of us. The children need you the ones downstairs eating and the ones you carry. Please, Jules fight this." Aaron pleads with her over and over.
Alex is unable to do more than say over and over again that it is his fault while crying.
Adam holds onto Julie's hand like it's his only life line and stares unseeing at the floor. He's so lost in his guilt that he can't even plead for her to fight for her life or take blame. He knows that he's the most guilty. If Julie dies than it will be his fault. He's the one married to her. She's his to love and protect. He might of protected her but he forgot about the love part. With Julie that's just as important if not more so.
Throughout the day the others would come in and stay with Julie as well. Their parents would force Adam, Aaron and Alex to leave and eat and rest while staying at her side. They didn't say anything but they are worried.
They all are.
By nightfall the aura hadn't changed, but at least it hadn't gotten worse.
Adam couldn't sleep. After trying for over an hour he gave up and returned to his wife's side.
He watches as Aaron sets up another blood transfusion. He watches in fascination as the level of blood lowers. Normally what would take an hour takes only minutes. He makes a decision.
"Get the slaves blood, we'll use their blood for a continual transfusion."
"Are you sure? That will make us short on some of the orders." Aaron says softly.
"I don't give a fuck. Julie's life is more important than the orders."
"I know it is, I'm just saying that the vampires will get their blood either through our supply or they'll steal from the hospital or hunt. You know most vampires don't like leaving their prey alive. They've agreed to do so only if the lack is made up by the supply we send. Sending the blood to Julie could cause several other deaths as collateral damage. How do you think Julie would feel about that?" Aaron says trying to make Adam see the possible consequences of his actions.
"Call those whose orders would be affected and let them know the reason is because their queen is dying and needs the blood. See if they will accept partial delivery now and the rest as soon as possible without them hunting." Adam finally says, the stress is starting to get to him.
"Very well, my king, it shall be so." Aaron says no mockery in his voice or actions. The situation is too dire for that. Adam is hanging onto his sanity by a thread.
"Adam, I'll deal with any issues of the supernatural world until Julie is better." Andres says coming up to his son and setting his hand on his shoulder.
"Thanks dad. I'm pretty close to losing it right now. If Jewel," Adam takes breath before he can continue, "if Jewel doesn't make it would you be regent until Jessica comes of age?" The unspoken part being Adam won't be there to take his rightful place.
"It's not going to come to that, but if that's what you need to help calm you down then, yes, I'll be regent and help her learn what she will need to know to effectively rule.
"The fact that Julie hasn't gotten any worse is a good sign, a very hopeful sign." Andres stops not knowing how to comfort his son in this moment. Julie is so much a part of their lives, all of their lives. Should she die it will deeply and irrevocably affect them all.
Not like when Sophia and Callie died. They were hardly missed at all by anyone in the family. Their going brought relief. Julie's would be devastation.
Andres prays to the universe that Julie will make it.
Should Adam lose control he will be the one called upon to kill him. Heaven help him he's not sure that he could. He's not sure that he wouldn't join him.
He's not sure his other sons wouldn't join in as well. It would be more than Mary Ann could take.
There would be a very real possibility that the children would become orphans, with no one to care and watch out for them, except three human females that would be completely out of their depths dealing with so many vampire children.
