All day the females, not just Jewel and her sisters-in-law, but the pack females, stayed and helped the nursery staff deal with the overload. It seems like no time and the sun is setting and the last child is sung to sleep.
Jewel quietly leaves the nursery and steals to her room. She had hoped that they would be back by now. She's worried, very worried that she hasn't heard from anyone yet. The fight would be vicious, but she didn't think it would take this long.
Her stomach roiling with nerves makes it hard for her to drink and keep down the blood she needs for her children. If they don't come back she'll have to somehow abort the children. The blood left will only last a couple of days. She has no desire to die a painful death and leave her children parentless. They would have no one to make sure they are safe.
Just the thought of trying to raise the children on her own, no Demarco's helping makes her even more sick.
Julie feels arms surround her and give her a comforting hug. "They'll be alright, Julie. Mike is fine, I'm sure the others are as well."
Julie looks over to Margo, "How do you know?"
"He just told me a short time ago. The fighting is over."
"They are on their way home?" Julie asks hopefully, but she's more than a little upset that not one of her boys has bothered to let her know anything.
"No, Mike says that they have a lot of clean up to do. They've managed to take a lot of prisoners, more than the cells for our pack can hold. Adam told him they can use his cells. Didn't Adam or one of the others tell you?" Margo asks interestedly. She knows that Julie is mind linked to all six Demarco boys and is close to her in laws as well.
"No. None of them have seen fit to bother telling me shit." Julie manages to hold back the tears but the pain isn't as well hidden. Margo holds her even tighter. She is glad it isn't her that will be facing Julie's anger. That wasn't very smart of any of the Demarco's.
"I'm sure that they will contact you shortly." Margo soothes her angry friend.
"I'm not." Julie replies and gently removes her friends arms as she walks away.
"Oh shit. You Demarco's have no idea what's coming your way." Margo says shaking her head, but unable to hide the small sly smile on her face. She hasn't seen this side of Julie in a very long time. Not since high school actually. If they thought Julie was a handful before, they are in for an eye opening now.
Margo with a much lighter heart turns out the light and heads to bed. Mike is alive. She and her children are fine everything else can be dealt with later. As she lies down to sleep she smiles at the memories that replay through her mind of the last time Julie was that pissed. Oh, the happy times.
The boys were crowding around another person. At first neither Julie nor Margo could see what was going on. They could hear the words though and Margo looks over to Julie with wide eyes. Yep, Julie is furious. The next thing Margo knows is people are moving out of the way for Julie. Margo never could understand how Julie could seem to be invisible at times and yet people would move out of her way.
However she did it Margo wished that Julie would let her in on the secret.
In next to no time there were no more people in front of Julie and Margo and she could see just what was happening. Joey Simpson was cornering a frightened freshman against some lockers and was about to hit him.
"Joey, unless you want a repeat of last time, I suggest you leave him alone." At Julie's words Joey stopped his fist from hitting the hapless boy in front of him and stills.
Joey steps away and lets the boy scamper out of there. He takes the opening in the crowd that Julie had created when she walked forward.
Once she is satisfied that the boy would be safe she turns her full attention to the bully. "Joey, Joey, Joey, how many times do I have to tell you to stop picking on those smaller than yourself." Julie holds Joey's gaze rather like a snake holds the gaze of its intended meal.
Julie breaks the hold by turning to look at the audience. "You all should be ashamed of yourselves. I've helped many if not all of you out of situations similar to this and not one of you reciprocated." Julie's eyes narrow in anger, "Since you couldn't do the right thing then you should get your asses off to class." Her voice is filled with venom and anger and becomes even harder when they don't move. "Now!" They left as rapidly as the poor freshman had earlier.
Julie once more turns her gaze to Joey. "I warned you, Simpson, the last time what would happen if I ever found you bullying anyone again. Did you not believe me?" Julie stands nearly a foot shorter than the well built jock in front of her. Yet he has a fearful look on his face as he looks at the tiny slip of a girl before him.
"Julie, please give me another chance." Joey pleads he'll kneel down and beg her if he thought it would do any good.
"I did give you another chance and you pissed it away." With that the slight girl gives him a sucker punch to his gut that doubles him over. Then she gives him an upper cut to the chin and a left hook to the face. That's all it took to knock him out. Julie spits on him as she walks away.
Margo hands her her books. "You'll get detention for being late again." Margo says casually as they walk off to their respective classes.
"So will you. You should have gone to class without me." Julie says shaking out her hand. She hadn't been holding back and now her hand hurts. They both do.
"And miss the fun. Not a chance. Besides they never give me detention, they're too afraid of my parents.
Everyone was afraid of her parents. Everyone except Julie. Her parents are more than a little intimidated by their daughter's friend. Margo finds that hilarious. She is less pleased by how Julie's parents treat her. She fears for her friend when she leaves for college in a few months.
