Chapter 3
I was at the park, thinking about Sam. Suddenly, I heard somebody calling my name.
"Janae!" she waved rapidly at me. Guess who that was? Skye.
"Hello!" I waved back, then wiped the tears from my eyes.
She rolled over to where I was.
"Janae- have you been crying?"
"Yes, but I'm okay."
"Are you sure? What's the matter?" she asked looking at me with big eyes.
"I was just reading over this letter that my friend meant to mail before she died in a car wreck."
"Aw! I'm so sorry."
"I don't need anyone's pity." I said. It didn't sound as rude in my head. Huh...
"If your friend died, it was just her time to go. I am sorry about your friend, but you shouldn't cry knowing that if she was Saved, she went to be with the Lord. I mean, death is gaining if you're a Christian!" she smiled.
"Yeah, well..."
"I saw ya at Church yesterday!"
"You did? You were there?" I asked.
"Yeah!! You know? You're really beautiful!"
"Thanks. You are, too." I smiled.
She's telling me that? She's beautiful, chocolate brown eyes, dark brown hair, a friendly, warming smile, a great attitude.
"Tell me about yourself?" she said, making it sound like a question.
"Sure. My name is Janae, I'm thirteen, my dad died when I was eleven, my best friend died a couple years back. You're probably wondering how I got in this wheelchair," I sighed, "well, it all started at Samantha, my best friend's house who is dead. Me, being disobedient, ignored my mother and climbed the old treehouse, which soon gave out under me, and I fell to the ground with it. I'm just glad I survived in a big mess like that. My legs were crushed, and I was horribly injured."
"Wow. Well, I got in this wheelchair all because of one little dare," she made me curious, and she continued, "I was on vacation with my family and friends, Drake, and Jessica. Drake dared me to jump off the airplane, I may have had a para shoot, but when I landed, that was not a pretty sight. Apparently, my para shoot popped, when I was pushed by Jessica, and I broke my legs and everything, it was worse than you can imagine! I'm glad I survived, it was a pretty nasty fall."
"Wow. Well everything happens for a reason." I replied.
"Yeah. Sometimes, satan takes things away from us, and puts us through trials. But he has to have permission from God. Jesus is Testing us, to see if we'll keep Believing in Him no matter what. But our trials can help us! Like you said, everything happens for a reason. Maybe we ended up in wheelchairs so we would turn to God." she replied.
"Huh." I said.
___
I went home, and I brought a guest. Skye.
"Hello!" mom said.
"Hi Mrs. Turner, I'm Skye, Janae's friend." she smiled, reaching out to shake mom's hand. Mom shook her hand.
"It is very nice to meet you! After Janae's best friend died, it's been hard for her to make friends." mom said.
"Aw, it's been hard for me, too." replied Skye.
"Come on, Skye." I said, trying to make her come to my room before mom said something I didn't want her to know.
"Wait." she said.
I sighed.
"Skye, do you want some food? After all, you're our special guest!" mom smiled.
"I don't know. Anything good?" Skye rolled around the counter, looking for something.
"I don't know. Do you like meatloaf?" mom asked.
"Eek...I'm a vegetarian." she said.
"Then what do you eat?" I asked.
"Vegetarian...stuff..." she replied.
"OK??" I said.
After we got Skye some 'vegetarian stuff,' I brought her up to my room.
I closed my eyes for a moment, just because I'm tired, while Skye listened to some music.
"Janae! Why aren't you opening your eyes?" Skye has been trying to get my attention this whole time.
"I'm sorry. What is it?"
"What are doing?" she squinted her eyes.
"Why? What's the matter?"
"Listen to these Amazing songs!" she said.
Awhile later, I told her that I've been praying about something, and I don't want to talk about it. I just felt like sharing.
"-Well, you will find out eventually what I've been praying about, but I'm not sure if it'll happen. Its just God's Answer."
"You know what?"
"What?" I asked.
"Your name actually means 'God has Answered'." she replied. That was something I did not know. Hmm...
"Wow." I said.
"Well, I better get home. See ya tomorrow?"
"Yeah. See ya- tomorrow." I replied.
"God has Answered." I said to myself when I was alone.
The next day came by surprise. Was Jesus Answering my Prayers?
