Chapter 2
The next morning came quicker than I thought. "Jane!" Nathan shook me, and said my name wrong.
"My name is Janae, can you say 'Janae'?" I said, tired. "Jana!" Nathan got it wrong once again.
"Good enough." I laughed, and went downstairs.
My life was crazy. I got dressed. I wore my long, blue jean skirt. I wore my kinda-dark blue shirt. Then I looked in the mirror. The only thing was this wheelchair I thought I'd be in for the rest of my life. What about when I'm old? I'll be wrinkly and helpless.
I rolled myself to the kitchen where mom sat at the counter, eating an apple and pretending to read the newspaper.
"Mom, could we go to Church? Don't ask why, because I really don't want to talk about it."
"Well, of course, Janae!" she replied happily.
"Great?" I said.
"Let me comb your hair!" she got a little 'too' excited that I asked. Why does she do this? I asked a simple question.
"No!" I exclaimed. "Why not?" she asked.
"I can comb my own hair, you comb yours." I laughed.
Yesterday when she combed my hair, she fixed it up too fancy. I'm not he fancy girl mom sees me as.
I got a phonecall while mom combed her hair in her room.
Hello?
Hey Janae!
Mr. Barton?
Janae, you can call me Joseph!
Okay-- Joseph. What do you need?
Well, ever since my daughter-- your best friend, Samantha died, me, my wife, Emily and your mother have stayed in touch.
What does this have to do with me?
Well, Janae. We found something of Sam's, and it's a letter that was never mailed. We would like to give it to you, or I could just read it to you over the phone.
No thanks. I'd rather have you to give it to me in person. Are you going to Church tonight? You could give it to me afterwords, because me and my mom are going.
That'd be great! And yes, we're going.
Good. Well, bye Mr.-- I mean Joseph.
Goodbye, Janae.
Joseph and Emily Barton are Samantha's parents. I wonder what the letter said, I guess I won't find out till' after the Church Service tonight.
"Who was that?" mom asked.
"Joseph Barton. He has something for me, and he's giving it to me after Church." I replied.
"Oh."
___
We went into the Church Building
Mom and I sat on a bench close to the front of the Church. We shook everyone's hand, and the Service began.
Pastor Thomas preached about how Jesus Holds the Answer to our Prayers, and if we Believe, and if its meant to happen, it will. Maybe not our timing, but God's Timing. He also preached about if something's meant to happen, nothing can stop it, and if something's not meant to be, nothing can make it happen. God's Timing is Perfect. He said that God's Face is turned away from the sinners. And He Has the Answers, He is the Answer to our Prayers, questions, etc. If you've been Praying about something, and it just hasn't happened, its because God hasn't answered yet. Its His Timing that's Perfect. We have to be patient, and longsuffering.
I listened closely, and enjoyed the Service. It was helpful, encouraging, and I know Jesus is the One who gave pastor Thomas the Message to preach.
'Thank You, Jesus. I know You Hear me right now.' I said silently in my head.
After Church, when everyone was leaving out the door, Joseph and Emily walked up to me and mom. Emily talked to mom, and Joseph talked to me.
"Janae, how have you been?" he asked, first of all.
"I'm doing okay, I guess. How're you?"
"Blessed."
"That's great. Well, I better get going. Can I see the letter Sam meant to mail to me?" I asked.
"Of course. Here it is. I want you to read it when you get home, please." he handed the letter to me.
"Thanks." I smiled through the pain and memories.
"You're welcome, Janae. When you read this, I want you to think back on the day that she died, and how she died. I want you to get rid of the pain, you'll see her again, and I know I will, too. She's with Jesus, now. I just want you to know how much she cared about being your friend, and all of the things she said about you, and this will reveal some of the nice things she's said about you. I hope this eases your pain a little. And remember your Heavenly Father who Hears you when you Pray." he winked. Tears streaming down his face through have of his paragraph.
I hugged him. "Thank you, Joseph. Prayers will continue for you and Emily."
___
When I got home, I went straight to my room.
I opened the crinkled up letter.
It read:
Dear Janae,
I'm glad you are my friend, and hope we stay friends forever!
You are a true friend, Janae!
You've been there for me: when I'm sad, when I'm mad, when I'm hurt.
Jesus put you in my life, and I'm thankful!
You always get me out of trouble! Haha!
I'm sorry about that incident with my treehouse, you're in a wheelchair, thanks to me.
I feel bad about it, although it was when you were six, and I was five.
You're the sister I never had! Hah!
Love ya! ~Love Sam :)
While reading that, I cried. I miss her so much! She was the sister I never had!
"Thanks, Jesus." I said, and continued crying.
Honestly, I think about her everyday, and I really hate how she died.
It was in a car wreck...
