Smoke
-Kyra's POV-
I had decided to follow them because I was so curious, I just wanted to know if they knew each other. They had stopped on the side of the road about a mile from my house and they both walked into the woods. I pulled my machete from under the seat, I would have clear a path to get through all the brush. I crept through behind them, I kept getting stuck and ended up losing them. I tried to track where they had walked but it was simply just too thick.
I stopped dead in my tracks as I heard Jesse start yelling... I headed in that direction. I knew this was stupid, I should have have just let them work out there differences but then again I didn't want anyone taking this new amazing guy away from me. Especially not Mark, he was a weirdo, a stalker, and plus I honestly couldn't see them getting along. Jesse was so protective, he would never let Mark get close to me.
As I crept through the woods, chopping at the brush in my way, an odd bright light shown through the trees. I heard something, I wasn't sure what it was but it was loud and stirring up a lot of dirt. It was odd, but I kept pushing through the trees anyway. I needed to see what was going on, I was worried that something bad was happening.
I got to the edge of the woods, a clearing, a very odd clearing. I saw Mark and Jesse on the other side. I could have sworn I was seeing things, Jesse was growing wings! He was floating in midair, this seemed very wrong. I stepped back into the woods, just enough so they wouldn't see me but I could see them. Jesse was being enclosed in a circle of dust and dirt, I got a couple good looks at him before the dust hid him from my view. His eyes were bright red, practically glowing, his teeth were sharp. What was he? Sudden the bright light went out and the ground exploded under my feet, my machete flying out of my hands. Luckily when I flew back I landed between two trees instead of hitting any of them. What the hell was that? I stood up, dusting myself off. I crept back up to where I had been to see Jesse, or who I though to be Jesse, crouched down as if he was punching the ground. That wasn't Jesse, that thing was an imposter. I needed to do something, and fast. Maybe I could knock him out from behind, no, that's too obvious.
Across from 'Jesse', Mark was on the ground, and it looked like he had completely obliterated a tree, by being sent right through that is. He was beginning to pull himself up, and 'Jesse' was also starting to stand up; I had to act now.
I looked around for my machete, and found it a few feet back from where I had landed, sticking up out of the ground. I pulled it out and starting running straight for the Jesse imposter. I raised the machete up, ready to swing it at moments notice.
I ran across the ground that had previously been covered in beautiful green grass. It was now just dirt, and I could feel the heat of the ground radiating through my shoes.
I was only about 4 foot behind him when he whipped around to face me, I saw his eyes zip from my face to the machete in my hands, but it was much too late for him to do anything to stop me. I jumped and aimed right for the impostors chest, the machete landed with a nasty squish. The noise it made was cringe worthy, and the way the machete sunk into him... Made me want to puke. I let go as soon as I felt the hilt slam into his chest and stepped back.
The look on Jesse's face told me that he was hurting, he then fell to his knees in front of me. His face fell towards the ground, his hair covering his face. "Why...? I trusted you..." He said weakly as he slowly looked up, his eyes returning to their beautiful blue.
He reached up the the hilt of the machete and pulled it out slowly, crimson red blood drippings down his chest. He had looked me straight in the eyes the entire time, "I'm so sorry".
It's like it happened in slow motion, Jesse muttered something under his breath, the wind picked up and it seemed like dust was coming off him. The dust around him got darker and darker until I couldn't see him anymore. Suddenly the dust flew up into the air, but Jesse was no longer in front of me.
It was coming back down, but at an unimaginable speed. When it hit the ground, dirt flew everywhere but there was only a low rumble. When everything settled, Jesse was no where in site, I had really killed him...
