Ch.6 Kiss (D)
**UNEDITED+ I need someone to portray Jericho**
"I only want you, Daisy." Jericho breathed against her wet lips, silver eyes focused on her blue ones.
Daisy was breathless and rendered speechless. Unconsciously she swiped her tongue over her wet tingling lips, blood rushing to her cheeks as she shyly met Jericho's gaze.
"Do you believe me?" Jericho asked, a charming smile on his face.
Daisy was flustered, but she wanted to nod her head and tell him she did believe him. In her head it made sense. A man like Jericho wouldn't take the time or make the effort to continuously ask her out if he could easily pursue any other woman. Maybe Jericho was serious about Daisy, meaning he didn't just think of getting one thing from her.
The soft caress of Jericho's fingers on Daisy's warm cheek brought her out of her mental debate. Jericho had his eyebrows raised, awaiting her answer. If she didn't give this relationship a shot would she ever have the nerve in the future to be in any relationship? That was something Daisy didn't want to know.
Gaining enough courage Daisy nodded her head softly, her blue eyes avoiding Jericho's and a small smile on her face.
"Good." Jericho replied with, tilting her chin up so their eyes met once again. Jericho leaned in a placed a sweet peck on her soft pink lips. "When can I take you out for dinner and offer you a better apology?"
"I'm not s-sure." Daisy started to wring her hands again, her stutter returning as well as her nervousness. "Can I t-think about it?"
Jericho chuckled softly, the sound making the butterflies in Daisy's stomach turn into dragons. "Of course. Just call me and let me know what you've decided."
"Okay." Daisy agreed, her heart hammering against her ribcage. Was it really Jericho himself that had such a great affect on her, or was it the fact the he was the first man to see something in her?
Jericho encased her wringing hands in his own, and leaned forward to place a soft kiss upon Daisy's forehead. "I've got an appointment now, but I'd much rather stay out here with you."
Daisy shook her head, a soft smile on her lips. "N-no, go to your a-appointment. I've got t-to go anyway."
Jericho gave her that charming smile again, followed by him standing up and dusting off his suit. "You'll call me and let me know about our dinner right?
Daisy stood up as well, the billionaire towering over the waitress. "Mhmm."
Jericho brushed back her hair and kissed her cheek. "Bye, Daisy."
Daisy watched the man walk away and disappear behind the gates of the prison, a weird smile on her face.
As Daisy stood in front of the family restaurant, a sickening feeling pooled in her stomach and everything came crashing down on her. Jericho made her forget for a few minutes, but now it was back to reality and the thought of her mother dying in prison scared her. With the news of her mother having had heart problems the past week and the worsening of her condition Daisy wasn't sure if she would make it.
Ann Morris was the mother of Daisy, the wife of Jeffrey and the stepmother of Lillian. Nearly four years ago the woman had been convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to nine years in prison. Daisy never doubted her mother's innocence, but the judge had thought otherwise. It was a stupid accident that could have been prevented but wasn't, and now her mother was facing the consequences.
Daisy walked into the restaurant, seconds later catching the eyes of Jeffrey.
"How's your mother?" Jeffrey asked, roughly pulling Daisy to the side.
Daisy twisted her body with his hold to loosen the pain, her eyes downcast. "Not good."
"Did they say how long she has?" Jeffrey asked, switching his main focus to counting the tip he had received just before Daisy's arrival.
Daisy was furious at Jeffrey's lack of concern for his wife's health. "If you care about her, you'll go see." Daisy pushed her way past Jeffrey, making her way to the back of the restaurant. Despite the situation with her mother, she still needed to work or Jeffrey would have her working overtime, more than she did already.
..
The day had passed awfully slow and Daisy's feet as well as her ankles were aching. After scrubbing the restaurant cleaner than it had ever been, Daisy dragged herself upstairs and into her small bedroom.
With her mother's conviction, Jeffrey had given the biggest bedroom to Lillian and he himself took over Daisy's old room which left Daisy with the smallest room that had initially been used as a larger storage room. Daisy's twin sized bed, her small desk and her tiny closet took up most of the room, but Daisy never complained.
It was a wonder she hadn't moved out already, but she couldn't. With the money she got paid at the restaurant, she could barely afford a decent wardrobe. And besides that, Daisy couldn't leave the restaurant in Jeffrey's hands. He'd do anything to change up her mother's business.
Deep down Daisy wondered if Jeffrey was secretly hoping for his wife to die. With her death, the business would belong solely to Jeffrey and he'd have the option to do whatever he wanted with it.
Daisy had thought it to be a mistake, when her mother gave Jeffrey half of the company, but her mother and Jeffrey had been in love. Love truly made a person blind, because there was no other way Ann would have even thought of giving someone else her dream, her restaurant.
Daisy pulled off her clothes and slipped on her comfortable cotton night wear. Daisy glanced in the mirror and sighed quietly. She had always been short and thin with barely any feminine curves. Her chest was small, but it suited her petite figure. Her ass wasn't much either, but it wasn't flat.
Daisy had always wished to gain more weight. She wasn't skeleton thin, but her body weight was near unhealthy. She knew many girls wished to be skinnier or to have less body fat, but thin girls struggled with their appearance too. Daisy wished she could say she had great boobs, thick thighs or a bubble butt and she knew many other woman wished the same.
When Daisy noticed her mother's jewelry chest missing from the top of her closet, she made her way into Lillian's room. Daisy warned Lillian not to take her mother's jewelry, because Lillian often lost the meaningful pieces.
Lillian's bedroom was decorated with expensive furniture that matched her cream colored walls. Daisy raised her eyebrows slightly at Lillian's vacant bedroom, a small note left on her queen sized bed.
Out with Daniella and Carol. Shopping tour this week -Lillian xx
Daisy huffed quietly and made her way back into her bedroom. Spotting Jericho's business card on her cluttered desk, a small smile pulled at her lips.
If Lillian could take what she wanted without caring about Daisy, then Daisy would do the same. Daisy found herself dialing Jericho's number. Her fingers trembled and her confidence began to slip as the phone beeped until Jericho's deep voice drifted through the speaker.
"Jericho Maverick."
Daisy felt like kicking herself. What was she supposed to say. I'd like to date you?
"Hello?" Jericho asked, his tone slightly annoyed.
"I-I ..."-
"Daisy?" His voice had taken on a friendlier tone and Daisy could just imagine him smiling.
"Uh, y-yeah." Daisy replied quietly, pinching the pale skin of her thigh. "Dinner s-sounds n-nice."
Daisy could her the quiet rumble of Jericho's chuckle, before his voice drifted through the phone again. "Great, I'm glad you called."
