Chapter 27: A confession or backing out?
When Mike awoke from his long sleep the first thing he noticed was how early it was and how much his body ached at the moment. At first he believed it was just his imagination, but once he looked down the weight on his lap was in fact a sleeping Jeremy. That answered Mike's question of why he felt something floofy intertwined in his fingers. Mike searched his mind for a plausible answer to why Jeremy was sleeping on his lap and why he was sore. The events of the previous day came to Mike's mind, answering almost all of his questions in a heartbeat. That was one hell of a day for sure. Now that Jeremy was roommates with Mike, said guard contemplated on what his future would hold now that his dear friend was safe. It was going to be a better future for the brunette, at least that's what Mike hoped.
A small yawn reached Mike's ears, it automatically registering in his mind as Jeremy who was waking up. Mike quickly pulled his hand out of the sleepy brunette's hair, knowing how awkward it would be if Jeremy found that out. The brunette stirred before opening his bright amber eyes, their gaze fixing on Mike the moment they were open. They were the cutest of puppy dog eyes.
"Morning Jere." Jeremy yawned before responding,
"M-morning." Mike watched as the brunette scanned his surroundings, stopping for a few seconds on the way Mike and Jeremy were laying before looking away. While the brunette was trying to register what happened, Mike was trying to get Jeremy to move before his legs went completely numb.
"Jere you mind moving your ass, my legs are falling asleep?" The amber-eyed teen didn't reply and kept staring off in to space. Mike didn't waste any time in lifting his legs up with all his strength, making Jeremy yelp as he fell off of the guards lap and onto the ground. "Better." Jeremy groaned and picked himself up off the ground, glaring at Mike shortly after. The security guard only chuckled and got off the couch, giving Jeremy's floofy hair a ruffle before sauntering off into his room. Mike had remembered his promise to take Jeremy out and he was intended to keep it.
Jeremy sat on the ground, pouting as Mike won the little showdown the two had. It always ended with Mike ruffling his hair and walking off. It was demeaning. Mike's voice reached his ears, making Jeremy jump.
"Go get some decent clothes on! You've been wearing the same sweater the last two days!" The brunette looked down, noticing that he actually had been wearing the same sweater and his face turned a light pink from embarrassment. In a matter of seconds Jeremy was in his room, going through his clothes to find something decent. His mind traveled back to last night, when Mike told him about taking him somewhere. It sounded like a nice way to relax and Jeremy had been waiting ever since Mike asked him a week back. The teen picked out a simple green shirt and a white long sleeve to go underneath, along with a pair of jeans and a decent pair of sneakers. It wasn't the best, but Jeremy hadn't exactly had the funds for anything unnecessary. He combed his floofy hair as best he could, only to end up failing and watched as it returned to its natural mess. After a few more minutes of prepping, Jeremy opened his door and walked into the living room, noticing Mike still wasn't done so he sat and waited. After about ten minutes, the brunette was just about ready to knock on Mike's door when the sound of footsteps reached his ears, along with Mike yelling that it was time to go.
"Well come on already!" Mike stepped into the living room, keys in one hand and a beanie in the other. Jeremy quickly observed Mike's outfit, noting the small details. The security guard dawned a button up shirt, similar to the one they wore at work, but more sophisticated. Jeremy looked up to see Mike staring at him, both locked eye contact seconds later. The older of the two turned around on his heels and put his beanie on. Soon Mike coughed to clear the silence and walked to the door. "Well, um come on. We are burning daylight." The brunette nervously followed, preparing himself for the day ahead of him.

At first it was awkward for the two, being out in public by themselves at first seemed odd, but they soon grew to the idea. It was truthfully one of the best times both of them have had. When they reached the café, both had ordered. The orders were completely opposite. Mike ordered a very black coffee, while Jeremy ordered a brownie flavored hot chocolate. There was so much sugar in there that it could give a person diabetes. Mike raised an eyebrow as the teen sipped the coca eagerly, regretting it shortly afterwards. Jeremy felt as if his tongue was on fire, that coca was hot as fuck. Mike chuckled as Jeremy tried to cool his tongue down. It was quite adorable in his opinion. After being at the café for a while, Jeremy somehow convinced Mike to go a very vacant park. The security guard would never admit that it looked very beautiful in this empty park. The two co-workers sat down on the grass, watching as the sky slowly grew to bright shade of red and pink. The two enjoyed the silence that the dusk had brought, soaking it in as it was their last day off. Suddenly, Mike felt the urge to get something off his chest. Something very personal to the guard.
"Hey Jere?"
"Yes M-mike?" Mike took a deep breath, hoping he wouldn't fuck this up.
"I just feel the need to say this so shut up for a second." Jeremy nodded, wondering what his co-worker wanted to say. "Look, I've known you for god knows how long now and well, it's been what's keeping me from killing myself. I thought my life was terrible, but then I realized that the world was a lot crueler to you than it was me. OK, so what I'm trying to say is..." The icy-eyed man felt his head pound and it become harder to breathe. Was he going to do it? He couldn't, but he wanted to.
"Y-yes Mikey?"
"I... I wanna say I. I mean that I, um, how do I word this?" Jeremy cocked his head to the side, wondering where Mike was getting with this. Was it is a confession? Neither of them knew. "I want to say Jeremy, that I, um, I" Mike couldn't do it, not now and not ever. "I um, thank you. For being here for me and hanging with an asshole like me." The brunette blinked, his heart pounding in his chest. He didn't expect that, neither of them did.
"Uhh, no p-problem Mike. You're t-the one who helped m-me. You are like a hero!" Two sets of eyes widened, the owner of amber pair covering his mouth in a matter of milliseconds. Meanwhile, the owner of blue only shook his head. Mumbling a few words before standing up.
"I'm no hero kid."

(I'm sorry for all the timeskips, I need to get the story running along.)
A set of gleaming white eyes watched from a distance as two shadowy figures entered a small house on the corner of street. One handcuff was still locked in place on the man's left hand, cutting off some of the circulation, but not enough to do damage. A toothy grin spread on to his lips, fiddling around with the rope in his hands. Soon he would get the chance to keep his secret.
A/N: WOW, I DECIDED TO UPDATE. WOW, JUST WOW THAT HASN'T HAPPENED IN LIKE, TWO WEEKS! Yeah guys I'm super sorry about that, I've been so busy with babysitting and fixing stuff up at my grandpa's. The good news is that on July 4th I WILL BE ONE YEAR OLDER. ONE YEAR SMARTER, ONE YEAR WISER, ONE YEAR STRONGER AND ONE YEAR CLOSER TO MY DEATH. So yeah, I'll try to update, but I've got lots of one-shots and drabbles coming.
