Win's POV
I was awakened by the delicious smell of vanilla wafting into my bedroom.
I glanced at the digital clock on my bedside table.
Holy crap, it was only six in the morning.
I looked to the side. Kay was no longer lying beside me. This was something new I just learned about Kay. He is an early riser. I would have a hard time syncing with his morning routine because I definitely was not an early riser. But just for today, because he is my guest I am going to honor his morning habit of rising early.
I stretched my arms to the side and up before getting out of bed.
I walked to the bathroom and did my morning rituals and took a quick shower after which I changed into a pair of denims and a simple white tee.
I blow dried my hair and then styled it to what I thought would suit the shape of my face.
"Good morning, Win!" Kay greeted me cheerily when I walked into the kitchen.
"Good morning!" I responded. "What's cookin', good lookin'?"
I noticed the immediate flush creeping into Kay's face.
"I hope you're gonna like the vanilla waffles that I made for you and I took the liberty of frying the mini apple and garlic flavored turkey sausages that we bought from the supermarket last night," he replied.
"Sounds delish!" I said with a bright smile.
I took out a couple of plates from the kitchen cabinet and a set of utensils and placed them on the table. The vanilla waffles were already placed on a platter on the kitchen counter so I took the platter and placed it on the center of the table. Then I took out the jug of maple syrup from the kitchen cabinet and placed it beside the platter of the vanilla waffles.
I saw Kay transferring the last mini sausage onto a shallow oblong bowl.
"While you're placing that on the table I'm gonna fix you a cup of black coffee," I said.
"Oh you remembered!" he said in happy surprise.
"Of course," I said with a smile as I plugged the electric kettle into the kitchen outlet, after which I took out the jar of fresh roasted Java coffee and then took out a coffee cup from the kitchen cabinet.
While waiting for the kettle to boil I went to the fridge and took out a carton of orange juice which I poured into a tall glass and set it beside my plate on the table.
I then went back to the kitchen counter and stood in front of the kettle to wait for the blue light to go on which meant that the water was ready to pour.
I was startled by the feel of Kay's arms going around my waist from behind me.
"You smell so good," he said, nuzzling against my neck. "What shampoo did you use?"
"A combination of coconut and orange scent," I replied, trying to move away from him a little bit because I wasn't sure if after today I still wanted to spend time with him and I didn't want to lead him on.
The vanilla waffles tasted so good but the new brand of garlic and apple flavored mini turkey sausages turned out to be a little too salty for me. I finished up my glass of orange juice and then grabbed the carton to pour some more of it into my glass.
Oh no, the carton was empty.
Thankfully there was a convenience store right at the corner of our block. It was less than a five minute walk from our condo building.
"Where are you going?" Kay asked when he saw me stand up from the table.
"I'm gonna quickly grab me a carton of orange juice from the corner store," I announced. "I won't be long."
I waved to the receptionist at the lobby who greeted me with a cheery, "Good morning, Win!" before stepping out of the lobby heavy double glass doors.
I had made only a few steps on the side walk when I saw a familiar figure sitting on the edge of it. He was leaning against his suitcase. I moved closer to him.
What the fuck, Bright! Did he spend the whole night on the sidewalk??? Why did he not call me.
I took out my phone from my pocket. Yes I had a missed call from him. At one thirty in the morning! I had muted my phone before going to sleep so I did not hear my phone ringing. I always mute my phone before going to sleep. That way I'm able to sleep uninterrupted.
But why, why would he sleep out here to wait for me to wake up. What was so urgent that he needed to wait out here in the cold sidewalk.
With a wildly beating heart I moved up closer to him and shook him gently by his shoulder.
"Bright," I said softly while shaking his shoulder.
He lifted his head from the suitcase and looked behind him.
When he saw me he was immediately on his knees and grabbed one of my legs.
"Please be my friend again," he was sobbing against my denim jeans.
"Of course I am your friend," I said, shaking him and trying to make him rise from his knees.
"No you're not," he said. "You have someone with you now. He's probably still in your bed. He's probably the reason you did not take my call last night."
"If you're talking about Kay, no, he's not my lover," I said firmly. "He's the one I filmed a toothpaste commercial with and that was why I had to leave Seoul ahead of our planned vacation. But more importantly I left Seoul because I did not want to break up your relationship with Jungkook. Talking about Jungkook, where is he by the way?"
"He flew back to Seoul last night. Taehyung picked him up," Bright replied. "And it was all for the best because I knew that my place was here with you. And you were not going to break up anything between Jungkook and me. There was nothing to break."
I lifted Bright from his kneeling position.
"Get up," I said. "I'm still your friend."
"Actually ... " Bright started to say and then paused, studying my face carefully.
"Spill it," I prompted him.
He took a deep breath.
"Actually it was a good thing that you did not take my call last night. I had the whole night to seriously think about you, about you and me, about us... I... I don't wanna be just your friend, but if it's too much or too early for you... I'm willing to be just a friend for now and will try to work towards progressing into being more than friends, if it's okay with you ..." his voice hitched after the last few words.
It was my turn to take a deep breath.
"I have always wanted to be more than just a friend but ..."
He did not let me finish my sentence. He grabbed me and hugged me tight. His whole body was shaking and I could hear him softly sobbing. I hugged him back.
"We will be more than just friends from now on," I whispered into his ear.
= = = = = = = =
Some sixth sense made Kay stand up from the table and walk over to the window facing the street. He looked down and his heart jumped to his throat.
Win was standing just below on the sidewalk. He was hugging someone tightly and the other person was also hugging him back. Oh shit, now they were kissing.
Kay stood rooted to his spot by the window, undecided on what to do next.
Suddenly his phone started to ring. It was his talent manager.
"Kay," he heard his manager say. "Come over to our building right now. We have to sign a contract for a new commercial on a new brand of soft drinks. You will be filming it together with AJ Chayapol."
AJ Chayapol??? My long time crush AJ Chayapol???
