"Jemi!!!, It's Sunday oo"

I heard my mum shout from the hallway. I groaned silently as I pulled down my blanket. My sister and I had engaged in late night gists the previous night, She would be leaving for school later in the day.

"Thank you Jesus... Thank you Holyspirit" I muttered.

I stepped out of bed and walked towards the bathroom, and to the wash basin. I turned on the tap, and washed my face in a bid to wash the sleepiness I still felt off my face.

I stepped back into the room as soon as I was done. I knelt down by my bedside to say my morning prayers, I had to make it as short as possible cause I couldn't stand my mum call me again while I wasn't ready.

As soon as I was done, I dashed into the bathroom to have my bath, I didn't have to bother about chores because my sister had promise to do all the chores today, as per her last day at home. I got out of the bathroom and dressed up, it was already 7:15am.

I left the room and went to the living-room, only my mum was ready.

"Daddy and his daughter are up to it again abi" I said to mum.

" Yes oo, we have to wait for them as always"

I giggled as I sat on a couch near the door, I took out my Teenagers manual from my bag as I scanned through last lesson and today's lesson. I also memorized some verses.

After 20 more minutes my Dad and sister were finally ready and we headed to church.

After church service, my sister and I sat at the back of the church with some friends while my parents were busy with after service meetings.

"I'm so gonna miss this" Anne said staring at my mum who was praying for a woman some distance away.

"Yeah" I said, I was thinking about something different.

"Hey guys" The girl beside me said "Am I the only one or is it weird Maria and her mum are back to headquarters" She added.

" Shola, that's what I have been thinking of" I replied her.

Maria and her mom Monica left our church few years back, when Maria's parents got separated. That was before our friendship came crashing.

Getting to church that day to meet her and her mom was rather shocking. I wondered how I was going to act normal towards her with the way our close friendship ended. I still wondered what went wrong.

"I heard her Dad left for Canada" Timilehin added.

" Really?" I asked

" Yeah... Some guys from zone 5 told me" she explained.

" Oh"  I sighed

" Hey guys.... Let's take pictures nah" Anne said and I couldn't help but smile. I was really going to miss her a lot.

It was a short ride to Anne's school, the driver had taken us immediately we got back from church. She was too excited and anxious to leave that she convinced me into taking my food along. I guessed she was scared our Dad would change his mind at the last minute.

My parents didn't follow us as they were there the previous day, when they came to drop some of her stuff.

" I can't believe I'm out of that house" Anne said boisterously as we stepped out of the car and walked towards her hostel.

I forced a smile has I walked with a slightly sober face, I didn't even know what to feel.

A few students greeted us as we walked up the stairs, her room was on the second floor.

"Room 64" she muttered "That's what we should look for " she said as we walked through the hallway.

"Okay"

"62.... 63... 64, yes we are here" she announced as we got to the room.

She opened the door slightly and peeped in, in a funny way, for a second I almost burst into laughter.

She finally opened the day when I guessed she must have confirmed they were humans.

"Hello" she greeted as we entered the room.

"Hey... Hello... Welcome" her roommates said simultaneously.

After spending like an hour with her, I decided it was high time I went home. She decided to see me off along with one of her roommates Eniola.

We spent extra 20 minutes telling each other to take care and being emotional before I decide to actually leave.

" Err, I have to go now Anne" I said "It was nice to meet you Eni" I added.

" Yeah, same here Jemima, take care of yourself" Eni replied as she attempted to start leaving.

" Jemi" Anne muttered as she looked sober " I'm going to miss you so much" she said as she reached out to hug me.

" You are the finest little sister ever" she said between sobs " continue to make us proud, cos I'm always proud of you" she added and took a deep breath.

" And please always pray for me, I don't want to make a mistake, I also want to make our parents proud" she said.

" I'll miss you so much too" I replied " I'll always pray for both of us okay" I added.

She loosened the hug with her hands on my arms and mine  wrapped around her.

"And be careful with our crush oo" she said giggling.

"Arggh" I sighed "Anne! There is nothing like a crush here oo, we have not even had a normal conversation" I said almost in a scream.

" Hmm, motigbo oo, we sah know he has cute eyes" she said as she dashed away.

I couldn't help but yell at her with everyone around staring at us.

"Bye! I love you!!!" She hollered as she scurried off with Eniola.

I stood there for another minute before entering the car.

I was at the entrance when I started hearing my parents yelling at each other. My heart skipped a beat as I wondered what was happening.

"I suspected it, Ah, toriolorun (for God's sake). Dele kileleyi(what is this)" I heard my mum scream.

" Woman!!! Watch your words, I don't know what you are talking about" My Dad yelled too.

" After four children Oladele, you are now acting like a fo.... " I heard a loud thud and I had to dash inside.

My mum was on the floor, I couldn't understand what my eyes were seeing. It wasn't possible. I looked at my Dad and I saw fear and remorse mixed together on his face.

No words could come out of my mouth, all I could do was stare in utter disbelief. It definitely wasn't possible.

I must be in a dream, and I don't like this dream
