Thomas sighed as he looked at the cloudy sky through the window. He smiled as he saw the empty area where the clients used to hang when they had time. "Not today though..." Thomas mumbled to himself as he slowly pulled his hair into a bun and put the hair net to continue working after his 30 minutes break. 

Thomas smiled at his coworker, Maria as she waved at him. She was a sweet girl, kinda shy that got the job at first to gain some money for her and her small daughter, but now she was the owner's fiancee. She made some delicious pastries and other goodies that helped the bakery to win more customers. 

"Hey, Thomas?" Maria asked as she took off her apron. "I finished with the baking and since it's Eliza and I's anniversary I was hoping if you..." 

"Want to close instead of you? I'll do it, you go and enjoy your date. I have nothing better to do." Thomas said smiling at her.

"Thank you, Tom! I owe you one!" She said smiling and kissing his cheek before walking to pick up her stuff and walked out of the store.

Since Thomas was now alone, he grabbed one of his books and started reading. When he looked up from it he noticed that the sky was now fully covered in dark gray clouds with some thunders sounding in the distance. He went to pull up the umbrellas so the wind wouldn't take them and took the plants outside. 

He finished just in time before it started to rain hard. He played with his bracelet to calm himself during the storm and continued reading until he heard the little bell in the door ringing, meaning he had a client.

A man wearing a gray jacket and a yellow sweatshirt walked in with an umbrella. he was partially wet and looked outside. Thomas recognized as one of the regular costumers. He usually bought a strawberry cheesecake and a black coffee on his way to work.

"Hi, Thomas!" James said smiling at him. "Hey, mind if I stay here until the rain passes?" 

"Yeah, I guess. Would you want anything to drink or eat?" Thomas asked as he walked to the coffee machine.

"Yeah. Black coffee and a hot chocolate" James said walking to the small area where he could sit. 

Thomas smiled and handed James his drinks. James grabbed his wrist and offered to sit next to him. Thomas blushed and said he has to work to do.

"We're the only ones here. Besides, I would like to have some company as I drink my coffee" James said with a smile. 

Thomas smiled and sat down. James handed him the hot chocolate and sipped his coffee. Thomas smiled and sipped the sweet drink looking at the rain falling outside. That's when James started a small conversation with him that continued for a couple of hours. The time flow like water.

It was almost time to close when Thomas checked the hour again. He smiled and James and looked sadly since he had a great time with James. 

"Would you want me to drop you at your home?" James offered handing him the empty cup.

"Oh, no! I-I can walk home or pick the bus" He said not wanting to be the reason why James would be home later than usual.

"I have no problem. Besides, the city must be chaos after the rain. Besides, I really enjoyed your company today" 

Thomas blushed and accepted the offer.
