4th: Ballroom
James stared at the crowd bored of his mind. He was brought there by Aaron, who was now somewheres in that place, possibly being charming with someone using the excuse of being in a masquerade to have a boost of confidence that he didn't usually have.
James sipped his champagne as he saw Aaron dancing with a girl with a baby blue dress and a white dove mask. She was smiling before moving to dance with another man with a green suit and a lion mask.
Then, from the crowd, a man with a wolf mask walked to him. He had this magenta-pinkish suit, with a ram mask. He smiled at him and grabbed a glass of champagne before sipping it and starting talking.
"Wonderful night, don't you think?" He said. He had this thick accent that James recognized as from his state. He lost his a few years ago when he moved to do some jobs in another state.
"I suppose. I'm not really into partying if I'm honest but I came here because a friend invited me. He's in the middle of the action while I'm here" James responded as he sipped his drink.
The other man looked at him and set his glass down before looking at him. "Would you want to dance with me?"
James almost choked in his drink before looking at him with wide eyes. "But we're two men. That won't be allowed." He said looking at him.
"Yeah, and ladies cannot dance with each other either, but look at the crowd" he said pointing to two couples in particular, one of them being two woman, one with a pink dress and a falcon mask, the other one had a red dress with a raven mask. The other couple were two men, the same man with the green suit and the other one with a soldier's uniform with a wolf mask. James kept quiet and looked at him. "See? It won't be a problem"
James sighed and set his glass down. He stood up and walked to the dance floor grabbing the stranger's hand.
Later that night, he was quite tipsy and admitted to the man that the night turned to one of the most amazing nights in his life.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. I did enjoy it as well." He responded as they were in the balcony talking after dance for a couple of hours.
James leaned his head on Thomas' chest and smiled as he slowly took off his owl mask, reaching for the stranger's mask to take it off.
"You're really handsome..." he mumbled caressing his cheek and smiling with a soft blush.
The stranger blushed lightly and smiled back. "Now I remember, I haven't told you who am I." He said.
"Me either. I'm James... James Madison" he said in a really low tone.
"Thomas Jefferson." He said looking at the stars and sighed before looking at him and leaned on.
James decided to go ahead and he kissed him back.
Whatever happened between them that night, only James and Thomas knew.
