James looked at his phone checking the hour. He sighed as he looked at the beautiful cafe he was waiting for his date to arrive. 

In retrospective, it was all his friend's fault. Dolley convinced him to get a new dating app because why not? James was a little against it at first since he wasn't used to getting so many notifications on his phone, but slowly accepted the compliments, chatting, sometimes video chatting, but never went to a real date. 

He met this man on the app a few months ago. He was a really good looking man with a bright smile and as smart as James. He was concerned why a man such as him would pay him attention, James didn't consider himself handsome nor cute, but Thomas did.

Following the same steps that he did with the other men and woman, that usually only wanted a quick fuck or to rant about their last relationship. James usually declined any kind of dates involving doing that, and just stayed home with a piece of cherry pie and some Netflix.

 But after months, and a lot of convincing, James accepted having a date with Thomas on a small coffee shop and just met in person, no sex and James could end the date if he wanted it. Thomas reassured him over and over again that he didn't have any problem. 

Now James was waiting for Thomas, hoping that he would not get kidnapped or something. His mind was kind of a dick when it comes to thinking in the worst case scenario.

James sighed and heard someone walking in.  

He sighed in relief as he saw it was just another customer. He checked his phone again before reaching for his tea and sipped it as he checked Thomas' profile. Another bell announcing someone walked in but he didn't notice it.  

"Sorry for coming late, I got kinda lost." A man said looking at him. James soon recognized him as Thomas. He looked up and blushed. Thomas was hella high. During their messages the discussed almost anything, and maybe once they brought how high they were, but if it was the case, James forgot about it.

Thomas was also surprised about how different James looked in person. Shorter, a little more shy, cuter. Thomas swears that he felt his cheeks going redder.

"It's not a problem. Uh... do you want to sit?" James asked smiling softly, making Thomas' heart skip a beat.

"Uh, sure! I-I brought you some flowers." Thomas said handing him the small bouquet of daisies to James who blushed softly and looked at him with a warm smile. 

As Thomas asked for a coffee, they started talking to each other like they usually did via chat. James was amazed by Thomas' smoothness and knowledge with words, and Thomas was surprised by James' sarcasm and dark humor. 

For the rest of the date, they felt like the time didn't exist and they were the only ones in the places they visited that day. When they finally noticed, the moon had already risen and it was time for both to return home.

"So... what did you think?" Thomas asked hiding his hands in his pockets smiling at him.

"I enjoyed it a lot. It was an amazing day", James responded smiling back.

"So... uh... would you like to have another date with me? It doesn't have to be a date, maybe just the two of us, hanging and chilling...? Or you can say no if you want, I don't have any problem, but I would really like to have another and-" James shushed him by putting his finger on his lips. That little action made Thomas blush bright.

"I would love to. Maybe next weekend?" James asked

Thomas smiled and nodded. "That sounds good to me..." 

"And that's how I met your father, Lucy", Thomas said as the five years old looked at him amazed.
