17th: Acapella
James walked back to walk with their dog and daughter after a fun day at the park. They tried to pull Thomas from his bed since he had been in it most part of the week.
James knew what was going on. Every year around that specific time, Thomas felt incredible depressive. He couldn't blame him, it was around that week when everything that involved his ex-wife hit him particularly hard. Her death's anniversary and her birthday had two days difference.
It has been five years since that, but Thomas always had a hard time since she loved her a lot. James made sure to be there for him and for Lucy, who always saw him as her second dad. Not that James was bothered, he loved the little girl with his whole heart. She loved them and always worried when her daddy was feeling down like that.
She always tried to cheer him up, usually drawing him something pretty, bringing Dolley with her to cuddle with him, or preparing him some Mac N' Cheese with James' help.
James always made sure he was fine, well hydrated, that he was taking his meds and regular showers, as well that he ate something before bringing Lucy to the school and picked her up after it.
It wasn't a lie that James loved Thomas a lot. Lucy sometimes pointed out at that when she was walking back from the park. James tried to explain that it was just a good friendly relationship with him even though he knew that deep inside that he was in love with him.
James opened the door and walked in with Lucy grabbing his hand and Dolley ready to launch to her spot on the sofa. After taking off the vest and drinking water, she went to lay down on the couch as Lucy went to the bathroom.
James went to put his coat off and went to check on Thomas, surprised to not find him on the bed. He went to find him and find Lucy instead, sitting down next to the doorframe smiling softly.
Then he noticed something else. Thomas was singing. He spied a little and he was making cookies as he sang the same song he would sing to Lucy when she was still unborn and when she had nightmares as a baby so she could fall asleep again.
He was singing alone, no headphones, just him believing he was alone.
After finishing singing, he started to sing one of the sings from his favorite Disney movie, the Aristocats. Lucy couldn't help but sing along as he started to sing "Everybody wants to be a cat", surprising his father.
"Lucy! James! I didn't know that you were home already," he said smiling softly.
"We arrived not so long daddy! I heard you singing and I didn't want to interrupt!" The seven-year-old girl said as she hugged him.
"It's been a while since I heard you singing. Can you continue for us?" James asked sitting down.
Thomas looked at both and nodded continuing singing from memory all the Disney songs he could remember, James and Lucy, listening happily.
//Fluffy Jeffmads family because I was in the mood of something like it. And I was listening to Disney songs tbh.
