16th: Treasure map

"Sweet dreams, kids!" Mrs. Washington said smiling as she turned the lights off as she walked out of the room.

Mrs. Washington was a kindergarten teacher with a bunch of kids to take care off. She most part of the times worked alone, sometimes her husband would help him when he wasn't busy being a cop.

Right now, she finished setting all the toddlers and the little baby so they could take their nap after being playing for the last 2 and a half hours. Or well, she believed that all the little kids were sleeping.

"Jemmy, c' mon!" Thomas said standing up and shaking his friend softly.

James brushed his eyes and tugged on his blanket before sitting down and yawned. "Whaaat...?"

"I have a treasure map! I've been hiding it from Hamilton so we can find the treasure first!" Thomas said smiling.

"Tom... we're supposed to sleep...! James whimpered looking at his friend.

Thomas and James were friends all their life. Thomas was full of energy kid, usually ended up with both of his knees scrapped, and constantly got distracted during the classes. James, on the other side, was a shy and sickly kid that shared the table with Thomas. He was a smart kid, usually whispering the answer for himself before the teacher said it and liked to read as he was looking at Thomas play football.

"We can skip it for today! Let's go!" Thomas said pulling harder on James' blanket.

James sighed and stood up pulling his blanket with him.

James smiled and grabbed James by the hand as James walked behind him, snickering out of the room to the garden.

Thomas pulled the map from his jacket and started to follow the steps to find the treasure. James helped him to read the instructions and to count the steps. They walked in silence with a small gardening spade to dig to find the treasure.

An hour later, Martha walked to the room to check on the kids and after hearing the smaller of the kids, a small two-year-old girl, crying. She pulled the small baby to her arms and looked at the other kids, then realized that were two spots empty. She immediately walked out, still holding the baby who was now smiling at the poor woman's worried state.

"Thomas? James? Where are you, sweeties?!" She yelled trying to find the two five years old boys inside the building. The small girl giggled and started to imitate her. Martha was about to call her husband to help her when Peggy looked at the window and smiled and yelled "Tun tun! Tun tun!"

Martha looked up and saw the two boys outside, in the garden, James sitting down in the ground as Thomas was digging in a big hole and half-waist deep in it. Both of them were full of dirk and had some grass stains in their clothes.

She dashed with Peggy to the garden, who smiled as she saw the two boys again. "Tun tun! Ames!"

The two boys looked at her and then the woman. "Hi, Mrs. Washington!" Thomas said oblivious as James was playing with his blanket a little anxious.

"What are you doing, boys? I thought you were sleeping an hour ago," she asked them.

"Uh..." James said. "Well..."

"I got a map! And I wanted to find it with James!" Thomas responded

Mrs. Washington looked at her clock and sighed. It was almost time for the kids to wake up, and she couldn't leave them unattended. "Let's go, kids. It's almost lunchtime. I'll help you to find the treasure later."

Both kids smiled and Mrs. Washington helped Thomas to get out of the hole. Then she noticed the dirt on their hair and face more closely. She walked with them to the bathroom after texting their parents what they have done and asking permission to clean their clothes and wash the dirt outta them. After accepting, she pulled both to the bathroom and started a quick bath for both.

James' blankie was a little dirty, so she pulled it along their clothes to the washing machine and went to wash the two boys. She left them for a couple of minutes to put a movie for the other kids and went to finish with the two boys.

After they got dry clothes and his blankie back, Thomas and James went to see the movie with the other kids.
