1. One Short Day from Wicked

______________________________________

Omega and her friends all rushed down the stairs, only to run into a group of guards and more flying monkeys!

"Oh no!" Omega exclaimed.

"Don't worry, Princess!" Crosshair raised his axe. "We got these beasts!"

Omega and her friends started to fight the guards, and they all tried to get out, but there were too many guards. Unfortunately, Omega's power still wasn't working, so she had to use what she'd learned in karate class to fight the guards, but there were still a lot of them. Throughout the fight though, Omega couldn't stop thinking about Diamond. Even if she managed to get out, what was the point of going home if Diamond was gone? How would she explain it to Kara or Sapphire?

That was when the drawbridge was suddenly broken down! And everyone heard the sound of a horse whinnying.

When Omega looked at the door, she couldn't believe her eyes when she saw what looked like Queen Reigna, and on her back was...

"Hunter?!" Omega gasped.

Not only was Hunter riding Queen Reigna, but he was also dressed like a handsome prince like in a fairy tale. And he wasn't alone either. Another brace knight was with him, one Omega recognized as...

"Echo?"

"Someone call for Prince Charming?" Hunter said.

The two knights drew their swords and rode in on the fight against the guards. Guards came from all directions and continued to fight Omega and her friends. And then something silver swooped in and knocked a few down.

"Paws of my princess!" Diamond exclaimed.

"Diamond, you're okay!" Omega said.

"I wasn't given my name just for having a diamond on my head, you know." Diamond smiled, kicking another guard in the face.

Everyone kept fighting in their own special way.

One guard just kept punching Tech-Crow, who didn't even flinch.

"Knock yourself out," said Tech-Crow. "It's all straw."

Crosshair, however, threw his axe in the direction of a group of guards, only for them to duck.

"Ha! You missed!" one taunted.

"Who said I was aiming for you?" smirked the tin man.

The axe hit a metal object and flung until it hit a chandelier, and fell onto the very guards Crosshair threw his axe past.

Wrecker, on the other paw, bit the guards and punched them, and he really pounced on another when he dared to yank his tail.

The batch managed to knock out all the guards. Many were out cold or too tired to fight anymore. Crosshair quickly picked Omega up and placed him on Reigna's back with Hunter so they could get out of there.

"Let's get out of here before the warlock catches us!" Crosshair said.

But before the group could escape through the door, the drawbridge rose up very quickly, metal bars falling over it, and the sound of evil laughter echoed through the room.

"You really thought you could escape me?" Sidious sneered as he entered the room.
Crosshair got Omega behind him and had his axe at the ready.

"Mess with Omega, you're messing with me!" he said angrily.

"Mess with them, you're messing with me." Wrecker growled.

"It's over, warlock." Tech-Crow said. "We took down your guards, and you are currently outnumbered."

"None of you have any power over me," said Sidious.

Sidious threw out his hand and pulled Omega back to him.

"As long as I have the girl, I will have the power I so deserve." Sidious said.

"What did I ever do to you?" Omega said. "All you've done is cause problems for everyone."

"I sense a great deal of anger in you, Princess." Sidious said. "You may show some potential if you join me."

"Join you?!" Omega said, sounding disgusted. "I would never support someone like you!"

"Then perhaps your friends can persuade you."

Sidious then made all Omega's friends float and trapped them in big red energy bubbles. Omega gasped and tried to escape Sidious' grasp, only for him to have her trapped by clouds of red smoke wrapping around her wrists and holding her up in the air.

"You will remain in this castle, where I shall eliminate your friends one by one, and end with you. If you will not be my apprentice, I shall end your day with death."

Omega struggled. Why her magic suddenly wasn't working, she didn't know. But she could really use it now. Her friends were trapped, she didn't know what to do, and her family didn't know she was in literally another world. This was not shaping to be the best day of her life.

Omega felt a tear come from her eye as she thought of her family. The tear dropped and fell onto the japor snippet around her neck. Omega looked down and saw her necklace glowing. She remembered her parents told her how the first one Anakin made was for Padme to bring good fortune, and eventually he made another for their daughter Gabriella, and then they even made one for Boba. It became pretty much a Skywalker tradition, so it only made sense that the family made one for Omega when she was adopted.

Omega looked at the sparkling tear on the charm and remembered what her aunt Kara had said the day she gave her the necklace.

"It will serve as a symbol of this family's everlasting love for you and our acceptance of you as part of our family... Princess Omega."

But it wasn't just Kara's words she remembered.

"Family isn't about blood. It's about love." Boba had said.

"Family is the true greatest gift of them all." That was Gabby.

"When you're with the ones you love, they're all the music you need." Carmine said.

"You're our little princess because you are part of this family." Padme had told her.

"They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger," said Anakin once. "And love will make you strongest of all."

"One thing that is the same in many princess stories that you can learn from," said Qui-Gon after telling the children yet another fairy tale story. "Is to let your heart be your guide."

And then she remembered something Mariposa told her when she was struggling with some new spells Garrett assigned her to practice.

"Magic works in mysterious ways, Omega. There are things that can stop it from working as it ordinarily would. But even in your darkest moment, there is a type of magic that not even magic proof elements like adracium could stop. And that is the magic of true love. Your memories of the ones you truly love, near or apart, they will give you power that not even the greatest sorcerers or scientists of all time together can truly explain."

Omega took all these words to heart, and though it was a long shot, she had to do something. Ignoring all that Sidious was saying in whatever long villain speech he was giving to the other prisoners, Omega concentrated not just her mind, but deep within her heart, every memory she could muster of her family from the day she met her twin brother to every laugh she had with each member of her family, every fun time they had, and even a moment when she was having a bad time and at least one member of her family was there to kiss it and make it better.

Suddenly, Omega could see her hands beginning to glow. So, she kept going. She brought every one of her happiest memories she had, and even thought back to her dreams that she could recall. The more she remembered, the brighter the glow.

Sidious thought he had Omega and was prepared to eliminate each of her friends, starting with Diamond, when he suddenly heard the sound of someone crying out, and a bright light filled the room.

"Not today, warlock!" Omega said as she spread her wings and gained back her powers.
Sidious couldn't believe what he'd just seen.

"Impossible! Your power shouldn't work here!"

"There's a reason your power didn't work in Munch-Clone Land, Sidious." Omega said, looking determined. "And it's the same reason I was able to regain my own power. Its a power you can't wield because you know nothing of it. This magic is the power of true love. And I will use it here and now to save my friends!"

Omega cast a spell on the bubbles, popping them and freeing her friends, but the warlock brought out his broomstick and attempted to cast another spell on her, but Omega shielded herself and cast a stronger spell. Soon, she wasn't even alone in casting it, as Diamond swooped in, her head gem glowing and unleashing magic of its own. Together, the two of them were even stronger against Sidious' dark magic.

The wicked warlock tried to overpower the two girls, but he found himself getting weaker as Omega's bright light of sunshine glowed brighter and brighter, and suddenly screaming.

"I'm melting! Melting! How could a little girl destroy my beautiful darkness?!" Sidious screaming. "Curse the light of day!"

Everyone else had to cover their eyes as the light flashed, and by the time the light went down enough for everyone to look again, all that was left of the wicked warlock were his black robes and his broomstick. Even the guards couldn't believe what they were seeing, and something magical happened to them and the flying monkeys too.

Omega and her friends couldn't believe their eyes. All the guards' armor disappeared, and all of them transformed into what appeared to be more of the munch-clones, and a bunch of children too. All of them were cheering when they saw they were no longer prisoners of the wicked warlock's evil spell.

"Thank you, Princess Omega! You've done it!" praised one munch-clone.

"The wicked warlock had us imprisoned for years," said another. "and none were able to save us, only to get captured and imprisoned themselves."

Omega was hailed as a hero by all of the munch-clones, and was sure to be hailed as such by the rest of Oz for defeating the wicked warlock of the west.

"How can we ever repay you, Princess?" asked one of the clones.

"Do any of you know the quickest way back to the Yellow Brick Road?" Omega asked. "We really need to get to the Emerald City to see the wizard."

"That is where Echo and I came from." Hunter said. "Follow us. We'll show you the way."
Omega rode with Wrecker and Diamond followed in flight.

______________________________________

Very soon, Omega, Diamond, and their friends came upon a very large, very golden gate.
Hunter knocked on the door, and was greeted by a guard.

"Who goes there?" said the guard.

"Prince Hunter and Sir Echo. I come bearing guests to see the wizard." Hunter said. "Among our guests, we hold the girls responsible for defeating the wicked warlock of the west."

The guard shut the window and nothing seemed to happen, until everyone heard a loud rumble.
Then, the gates slowly opened to reveal a gorgeous sight for everyone to see. The Emerald City.
It was so beautiful! The whole city was all green and covered with emeralds. The buildings were green, the streets were green, and everyone there was dressed in green too! Omega and her friends were all so amazed by how beautiful the whole place was.

"Wow!" Omega gasped. "The Emerald City is so... wow!"

"It's the greatest part of Oz." Echo said. "There's so much here, one day never feels like enough to see it all."

"So before we go see the wizard," said Hunter. "Let's take a look around the Emerald City."

Chorus:

One short day
In the Emerald City

Tech-Crow:

I've always wanted to see the Emerald City
Chorus:
One short day
In the Emerald City

So, the seven friends went through the Emerald City to see all the great things there were to do.

One short day
In the Emerald City
One short day
Full of so much to do
Every way
That you look in this city
There's something exquisite
You'll want to visit
Before the day's through!

There was so much fun stuff to do, and everywhere Omega and Diamond went, they were instantly recognized as the heroes of Oz, and they were gifted all kinds of great stuff.
An ice cream cart gave them green apple ice cream cones, the tailors gave Diamond a lovely emerald saddle and emerald green hair ribbon and a lovely green gingham dress and matching ribbons for Omega, but that wasn't all.

Hunter:

There are buildings tall as quoxwood trees

Diamond:

Dress salons

Omega:

And libraries

Diamond:

Palaces!

Omega:

Museums!

Together:

A hundred strong

Omega:

There are wonders like I've never seen

It's all grand

Diamond:

And it's all green

Both:

I think we've found the place for better days!
I wanna be in this hoi polloi

Omega:

Soon we'll be home to end the day

Diamond:

Later we'll be on our way

Both:

But for today, we'll wander and enjoy

Chorus:

One short day
In the Emerald City
One short day
To have a lifetime of fun
One short day

Wrecker, Crosshair, and Tech-Crow were all happy to be there too, especially when they got to a special care center where they were cleaned and prepped to meet with the wizard. Wrecker seemed to start purring as he was brushed and had a green bow tied around his tail for a finishing touch.

And we're warning the city
Now that we're in here
You'll know we've been here
Before we are done!

Tech-Crow:

Omega, we don't want to miss Wizomania!

Chorus:

Who's the mage
Whose major itinerary
Is making all Oz merrier?
Who's the sage
Who sagely sailed in to save our posteriors?
Whose enthuse for hot air ballooning
Has all of Oz honeymooning?
Woo
Wiz-n't he wonderful? (Our wonderful wizard!)

Everyone:

One short day
In the Emerald City
One short day
To have a lifetime of fun
What a way
To be seeing the city

Very soon, the group at last arrived at the palace, where they were escorted into a waiting room, where even there was lots of fun stuff to play with. Chairs that spun around like a merry go round, balloons that carried people around like a ride, even carousel horses that went all around and upside down.

Omega & Diamond:

Where so many roam to
We'll call it home too
And then, just like now
We can say
We're just two friends
Two good friends
Two best friends
Sharing one wonderful
One short
Just then, a woman dressed like a receptionist came in.

Receptionist:

The wizard will see you now!

Everyone:

Day!

Omega and her first three friends approached the door, all of them nervous. Though, not quite as nervous as Wrecker, who was playing with his tail.

"Don't be nervous," said Hunter. "as powerful as he is, they say the wizard's got a heart of gold."
Omega knocked on the door, and they slowly opened.

"Come in, visitors." said a voice that sounded strangely familiar to Omega and Diamond.

Omega and her friends walked into the room where at first there was a bunch of green mist and sparkles in the air, and the group was met by surprise by who they met in the room. For in the room, there was a throne, where sat a man in emerald green robes Omega recognized from home.

"Garrett?! You're the wizard?" Omega was shocked, and so was Diamond.

"Garrett is my name, don't wear it out." said the wizard. "You seem surprised, young one."

"Uh... you just remind me of my teacher. His name is Garrett too."

"I hear word that you are the young girl responsible for defeating the wicked warlock. Is this so?"

"Um... yes. But it was actually a team effort. You see, Diamond and our new friends were all trapped. At first, my powers didn't work, but a wise person I know once said that the power of true love is stronger than even a magic proof object's shield against ordinary magic."

"Why have you and your friends come before me?"

Omega motioned for her friends to go first.

Tech-Crow removed his hat as he stood first.

"I came hoping you could grant me creativity. I was created with brains and focusing on logic, but never to use imagination."

Crosshair stepped up next.

"I came because I wish to have a heart."

Wrecker seemed scared though, so Omega had to give him a little push.

"I wanna have courage... please?" Wrecker said nervously.

Garrett stood from his throne and summoned a crystal ball.

"You all have different wishes, each unique like each of you. But it seems to me, none of you realized that these wishes can only be granted from within."

"Huh?" everyone said.

"You don't need a magic spell to grant your wishes, boys. You already granted them yourselves without realizing it."

"We have?" Tech-Crow asked.

"Tech-Crow. You say only logic can enter your brain."

"It is what I was programmed for. I was not programmed for creativity."

"Creativity is not something that can be programmed. It comes from within. And only those with truly skilled minds can unlock it if they only let themselves."

Garrett then showed Tech-Crow a vision of moments when he was creative throughout their journey to see the wizard. The time with the music-corns to open the gate, the quilts he made for Omega and Diamond to keep them warm at night, and the plan he created to rescue Omega from the warlock.

"I have been creative all this time?" Tech-Crow gasped.

"Indeed, you have." Garrett said, reaching into a bag for something. "But, you obviously need more practice in that area. Therefore, I can give you something to aid in that process."

Garrett presented Tech-Crow with a sketch pad and some colored pencils, which he could use to draw new ideas, create visual aids, and anything else he could think of with paper and colors. The only limit would be his imagination if he only took the time to let his mind wander and not overthink everything.

"Thank you, Your Majesty." Tech-Crow bowed.

Garrett then called Crosshair up next.

"Crosshair, your wish is for a heart, is it not? Why is that?"

"I don't know." Crosshair shrugged. "People say following one is a good thing, it makes you feel good? Haven't really known emotion lately."

"Well, a thing about matters of the heart, there are many a time people say they do have a heart, yet they choose not to show it, some because they are selfish, others because they worry how others will see them for what is within. Yet, you showed great heart when you showed concern for young Omega."

Garrett showed yet another vision in his crystal ball, and explained to Crosshair that only one with a true heart would willingly choose to rescue a child he hardly even knew, more to listen to her as she poured her own heart and emotions out, and even more to risk life and limb to rescue her when she was taken by the most feared figure in all of Oz.

"But if you want more of a feeling in a heart," said Garrett, pulling out something else. A heart that looked like a clock, which he placed into Crosshair's chest. "This shall give you the feeling of a beating heart."

It felt so strange to Crosshair feeling the tick tock that felt like the beat of a real beating heart.

"Wow! It... really works. Thank you, great wizard."

"And Wrecker, you have been deemed a coward for some time despite being this large and strong lion." Garrett said.

"I can't help if I'm scared of everything! Can ya cast a spell to make me not scared anymore?"

"Courage isn't the absence of fear," said Garrett. "It's going forward despite being terrified. Believe me, it took a lot of courage to ask my lady on our first date. Just see for yourself how brave you truly are."

Wrecker looked into the crystal ball, and he was shown moments he was brave too. Rescuing his friends from the stampede in Runner's Gorge, roaring to make it easier to save them, running in to save Omega, and even stepping up to meet the wizard just now. All of those things too courage.

"It takes practice to grow courage. You just need a special friend to help you not feel scared when you are alone." Garrett reached into his bag and pulled out a stuffed tooka doll. "Many hold a stuffed toy to fight fears of the dark. A big hug is the simplest form of comfort there is."

Wrecker took the doll and cuddled it, suddenly not feeling so nervous anymore.
So, it seemed everyone got their wishes granted... except Omega and Diamond.

"Do you think you could help us?" Omega asked.

"I've heard a lot about you, Omega. I hear tell you've been saying a lot about having a bad day."

"Pft! Don't get me started. All kinds of things went wrong today. I got mud on my shoes, had to wear a rashy sweater to school, got lost, and got captured by a mean warlock too." Omega said.

"A day is never truly bad, Omega. A day is what you make of it. Oftentimes, the bad memories feel easier to remember than the good ones. Did not anything fun happen today that you can recall?"

Omega started to think about good things that happened that day.

"Well, I did meet a few new friends."

Garrett's crystal ball glowed and showed a memory of Omega when she met and got to know each of her new friends.

"What else?" Garrett said.

"Ooh!" Diamond exclaimed. "We all sang a song and danced together."

The crystal ball showed a memory of that too with Omega and her friends laughing together, and they kept coming up with more happy memories to reminisce. Helping the music-corns save their home by singing acapella, her friends rescuing her from the warlock, defeating the wicked warlock for good, and then having a fun day in the Emerald City just before they met with the wizard.

"I guess we had a pretty good day after all." Omega smiled. But, that smiled quickly disappeared.
"But, as much as I like it here, I just want to go home to my grandpa. My family."

"My auntie is back home too." Diamond said. "She and my lady are probably really worried by now."

"Not to worry girls," said a familiar voice. And in came a familiar good witch.

"Padma!" Omega and Diamond exclaimed.

"Hello again, girls. I see you've met the wizard." Padma said. "You still both want to go home?"

"Yes!" Omega said, starting to get tears in her eyes again. She looked at Garrett. "Is there anything you can do?"

"Oh, but Omega." Padma said. "You've had the way home the whole time."

"I have?"

Omega was confused.

"You are still wearing the ruby slippers." Garrett said. "They are very powerful."

"Yeah. Do you need them for a potion or something?" Omega asked. "Because I couldn't take them off, and I don't know if I can now."

"Omega, they are the key to taking you home." Padma continued.

"Why didn't you tell us that to begin with?" Diamond asked.

"Because the two of you needed to learn something before you would leave. Neither of you seemed like you were happy with where you came from. We could see you needed to learn that a good day will only come to you if you allow it. Throughout your journey, you met others who did not realize that the things they wanted most were right under their noses, and together you taught each other how to turn what felt like a bad day into a good day."

"No day is ever ordinary nor perfect," said Garrett. "Each day holds a story, and many a time, not necessarily the one you anticipated."

Omega looked at her shoes and then at the witch and wizard.

"How do we use them to get home?"

"Come with me, girls." Garrett said.

Omega and Diamond couldn't believe their eyes when they entered another room and saw... The Marauder! It was fixed good as new. Omega didn't know how they got it out to the wizard's palace and fixed so fast, but she didn't care.

"But wait. I can't fly this thing." Omega said. "I don't know how."

"Trust us, Omega." Garrett said, placing a hand on Omega's shoulder. "Just step inside and hold onto Diamond."

Before she did that though, Omega went to her friends and gave them a big hug and a heartfelt goodbye. All of them were sad to see her go, but they were very thankful to her for everything she did for them and for being their friend, whom they would never forget.

Omega then stepped into the Marauder and held Diamond in her arms. Then, Padma gave Omega some instructions. She first told Omega and Diamond to close their eyes. And they both did.

"Now, Omega. Hit your heels together three times, and both of you together say truthfully and from the heart, 'There's no place like home.'"

So, Omega hit her heels together three times, keeping her eyes shut. And together, she and Diamond said over and over again, "There's no place like home."

"There's no place like home. There's no place like home."

Omega and Diamond could swear they were hearing strange noises surrounding them. Winds blowing, voices echoing, and their own voices still saying there was no place like home.
