Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?
This story begins in the mountains, where lots of cold ice has frozen over. Where there was ice, there were ice cutters who came to cut the ice for all kinds of things. Some of that ice would be used for ice cubes, or ice sculpting.
Born of cold and winter air
And mountain rain combining
This icy force both foul and fair
Has a frozen heart worth mining
So cut through the heart, cold and clear
Strike for love and strike for fear
See the beauty, sharp and sheer
Split the ice apart
And break the frozen heart
Of course, not everyone who came to the mountain was an ice cutter.
Hup! Ho!
Watch your step!
Let it go!
Hup! Ho!
Watch your step!
Let it go!
Beautiful! Powerful! Dangerous! Cold!
Ice has a magic, can't be controlled
Stronger than one, stronger than ten
Stronger than a hundred men! Ho!
At another part of the mountain were two little girls, one with dark hair and the other with lighter hair. Together they were sledding down the snowy slopes on the mountains.
Born of cold and winter air
And mountain rain combining
This icy force both foul and fair
Has a frozen heart worth mining
Cut through the heart, cold and clear
Strike for love and strike for fear
There's beauty and there's danger here
Split the ice apart
Beware the frozen heart
But after a while, one of the ice cutters called for one of the girls.
"Padme, time to head home."
"Coming, Daddy!" said one of the little girls.

Meanwhile, in a castle far away, there was a five-year-old boy in blue pajamas fast asleep in his bed. It was really early in the morning, and that little boy was about to have a rather rude awakening.
From the side of the bed popped another little boy who looked identical to the sleeping boy. Except, his pajamas were green and he wore black rectangular glasses.
"Anakin!" the other boy whisper-yelled. He shook the boy's shoulder. "Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!"
"Ugh... Carmine, go back to sleep." Anakin groaned, not opening his eyes.
Carmine plopped onto his brother.
"I just can't. The sky's awake, so I'm awake, so we have to play."
"Go play by yourself." Anakin nudged his brother, sending him to the floor.
"Oof!" Carmine thought for a moment and then he gasped when an idea came to mind. He jumped back onto his brother's bed and said, "Do you wanna build a snowman?"
That had Anakin waking up.

The two little boys quietly ran downstairs, sneaking past their parents' and their big sister's rooms until they made it to the ballroom.
"Do the magic! Do the magic!" Carmine said, excitedly jumping up and down.
Anakin began circling his hands until they started to sparkle blue and white, which fascinated young Carmine as a snowball began to form in Anakin's hands.
"You ready?" Anakin smiled.
Carmine smiled too, eager to play.
Anakin threw his hands up into the air, the snowball bursting into lots of beautiful snowflakes that fell all across the ballroom.
"This is amazing!" Carmine cheered, trying to catch snowflakes on his tongue.
"Watch this!" Anakin placed his foot on the floor, and the whole ballroom became a big ice rink. But it wasn't just ice that appeared. Snow and lots of little frost flowers appeared too.
Together, the twins built a snowman, but they didn't stop with one. They built a snow pony with two blue buttons for eyes.
"Let's call her Winter!" Carmine said.
"Winter... I like that name for her." Anakin smiled.
Then, the two boys slid down some hills of snow Anakin made. Carmine flew into another pile, and he threw some snow in the air like confetti. Carmine started jumping and he leaped onto a bigger hill of snow, and Anakin made another for Carmine to jump on.
"Catch me!" Carmine called.
Anakin made another hill, and then another, and then another. But then Carmine started to go too fast!
"Wait! Carmine, slow down!" Anakin called.
But Carmine didn't hear his brother. And that was when a girl a little older than the two boys entered the room.
"Boys! What are you-?"
But the girl distracted Anakin to the point where he didn't watch where he'd thrown the snow, and he hit Carmine in the head.
"Carmine!" Anakin and the girl both exclaimed.
The girl super sped over to Carmine and Anakin ran as quickly as he could. Carmine was unconscious, and a white streak appeared in his hair.
"Mommy! Daddy!" Anakin screamed.
Anain started to cry as he hugged his brother, and as he cried, the ice and snow in the ballroom started to get colder and thicker.
"You're okay, Carmine. I got you." Anakin said.
Kara wrapped a scarf she was wearing around Carmine to try and warm him up, when a man and a woman entered the room. Qui-Gon and Shmi.
"Anakin, what have you done?" Qui-Gon gasped when he saw the state of the room. "This is getting out of hand."
"It was an accident. I'm sorry, Carmine." Anakin cried, hugging his twin again.
Shmi picked up Carmine in her arms.
"He's ice cold!" Shmi panicked.
"I know where we have to go."

Qui-Gon found a map and got his family to their horses immediately.
Meanwhile, Padme was riding her sled through the forest, the sled being pulled by a red pegasus filly named Ruby, when she saw a pair of horses speed by and saw a trail of ice forming.
"Ice?"
Curious, Padme decided to follow them and see where they were going.
The royal family went deep within the forest. It was dark and there were lots of bushes all around.
"Please, help!" Qui-Gon begged. "It's my son."
The bushes started to rustle, and out from the bushes came a bunch of wolves! Padme gasped, and so did Anakin and Kara. The kids all thought the wolves were going to eat the royal family alive, but they didn't. The wolves all stood up and turned into humans.
"It's King Qui-Gon." said one of the wolves.
The wolves weren't the only strange thing the royals or Padme saw. There soon came a group of bipeds dressed in brown robes, all of them carrying some sort of metal object on their belts. And among them was a woman with moonlight silver hair and a crown of primrose. The queen of the werewolves.
"Why have you come?" asked Queen Ashina.
"My son needs help... from the Jedi." Qui-Gon said.
Padme gasped when she looked and saw the Jedi approach. She'd heard stories of Jedi living among werewolves in the forest before, but she thought they were just that.
Queen Ashina sniffed Carmine's head and confirmed he needed to be seen by Master Yoda.
A little green man approached and bowed to the royal family.
"Born with powers or cursed, was he?" Yoda asked.
"Born. Both he and Kara." Qui-Gon confirmed.
As you might've guessed, Anakin wasn't the only one with powers, but you see, Carmine didn't have any powers like his siblings or his father. But his family didn't worry because they figured he got it from his mom. The reason Anakin's was cause for concern was that ice magic was extremely rare in these parts, and thus unpredictable.
"And they're getting stronger," said Shmi.
"Here, bring little Carmine." Yoda said. Shmi knelt down and held her son to Yoda. "Fortunate you are, his heart it was not. Easily changed, the heart is not. But the head, persuaded it can be."
"Do what you must," said Qui-Gon.
Yoda carefully placed the end of his wooden staff on Carmine's head and reached into his mind to perform a special ritual where he removed all memories of magic from Carmine's mind.
"But worry not. The fun I will leave." Yoda said. "He will be okay."
"But, he won't remember either of us have powers?" Kara gasped.
"It's for the best." Qui-Gon said gently.
"Listen to me, young Anakin. Your power, only grow, it will."
Yoda showed Anakin a vision of what his power would become later in life.
"Beauty in your power, there is. But also great danger!"
Anakin got scared when he saw the magic turn red.
"Learn to control it, you must. Fear, your enemy it will be."
Anakin hid his face in Kara's chest, the latter hugging her brother.
"He can learn to control it. I'm sure." Qui-Gon said. "Until then, we'll lock the gates. We'll reduce the staff. We will limit his contact with people, and keep his and our powers hidden from everyone, including Carmine."

True to the king's word, the palace gates of Coruscant were locked, various castle staff members were sent to work elsewhere, except for guards, and rules changed drastically in the palace.
Anakin and Carmine no longer shared a room. Kara, Anakin, and Carmine weren't even going to attend school anymore. Now, they were going to have separate tutors so Anakin wouldn't be tempted to use his powers.

Two weeks passed since the incident. Carmine looked out the window and saw it was snowing outside. Happily, Carmine decided to go see if Anakin wanted to go outside and play in the snow.
Carmine:
Anakin?
Carmine knocked on the door.
Do you wanna build a snowman?
Come on let's go and play
I never see you any more
Come out the door
It's like you've gone away!
Carmine sat in the ballroom and played with a stuffed rabbit and a bear, two of his only friends around here since his twin went into isolation.
We used to be best buddies
And now we're not
I wish you would tell me why
Carmine tried around his brother's door again
Do you wanna build a snowman?
It doesn't have to be a snowman
(Anakin: Go away, Carmine!)
Okay, bye
Sadly, Carmine left the door and decided to see if maybe his sister would play with him. But Kara was too busy studying to play with Carmine at the moment.

Anakin looked sadly out the window and watched other kids playing, when ice suddenly formed on his windowsill. He quickly took his hands off with a gasp.
When he showed his father what happened, he had someone who could help. In order to help Anakin gain control of his abilities, the royal family called for the Jedi to allow one of their own to move into the palace and be a mentor to Anakin. They chose a young Jedi named Obi-Wan Kenobi. He was only eighteen, but very intelligent.
Obi-Wan placed some gloves on Anakin's hands.
"These gloves will help. See? Conceal it, don't feel it." Obi-Wan said.
"Don't let it show." Anakin said with Obi-Wan.

A few years went by. A now ten-year-old Carmine knocked on Anakin's door.
Carmine:
Do you wanna build a snowman?
Or ride our bike around the halls?
Carmine jumped off the bike and landed on a pillow.
I think some company is overdue
I've started talking to the pictures on the walls!
Hang in there, Joan!
With Anakin being forbidden to fraternize with his twin and Kara busy with crown princess stuff, Carmine was alone all the time.
It gets a little lonely
All these empty rooms
Just watching the hours tick by
Carmine was left to look for a hobby to entertain himself. Most of the time, he just practiced playing music on the piano or any other instrument, writing music, or practicing ballet with his tutor Miss Susy.

Meanwhile, Anakin's parents did everything they could to help Anakin gain control of his magic. Obi-Wan meditated with him, they tried distracting him with joke books to get him laughing instead of worrying, they even got Anakin a puppy, hoping an emotional support animal would help. But Anakin's power continued to grow and grow stronger.
"I'm scared. It's getting stronger!" Thirteen-year-old Anakin panicked, his voice cracking, which had him covering his mouth. As if puberty weren't embarrassing enough without the added ice magic.
"Getting upset only makes it worse," said Qui-Gon. "Calm down."
Qui-Gon tried to hug his son, but Anakin quickly backed away.
"No! Don't touch me!" Anakin toned it down a bit. "Please, I don't want to hurt you."

Even more time passed. When the twins turned sixteen, the king and queen tried something a little more drastic. Since meditation, a puppy, and a therapist didn't work, they searched among the young women of the kingdom, and found a beautiful young girl named Padme Naberrie, the youngest daughter of Ruwee Naberrie, and they brought her into the palace to meet Anakin.
Anakin became instantly smitten by the beautiful girl, but he was scared again of hurting her. To his great surprise though, she helped him keep his powers in check. That should've been the end of it, but Anakin still didn't feel safe showing his power around anyone else.

One day, King Qui-Gon and Queen Shmi were going on a trip.
Carmine passed by Anakin's door and thought about knocking, but he shook his head and just continued on to his parents' room, where he gave them a big hug.
"See you in two weeks." Carmine said, getting a kiss from his mom.
It was time for the king and queen to leave. Kara, Anakin and his betrothed bowed before them as they began to head out.
"Do you have to go?" Anakin asked sadly.
"You'll be fine, Ani." Qui-Gon said.
Shmi gave Anakin a big kiss and said to Padme, "Take good care of my Ani."
"I will." Padme said.

King Qui-Gon and Queen Shmi boarded their ship and headed out to sea for their trip.
They never came back.
A black curtain was hung over a portrait of the king and queen.
The whole kingdom gathered at a beautiful field where two big stones were placed in honor of the late king and queen's memories. The only one absent from the funeral was Anakin. He couldn't even bring himself to leave isolation to attend his own parents' funeral.

After the funeral, Carmine went to Anakin's door and knocked three times. This time, he wasn't alone. Kara accompanied him He had tears in his eyes as he looked at the door.
Carmine:
Anakin?
Please, I know you're in there
People are asking where you've been
They say, "Have courage", and I'm trying to
I'm right out here for you
Just let me in
Carmine got no response. He placed his hand on the door and sat down with his back against the door.
Kara:
We only have each other
It's just you and us
What are we gonna do?
Kara sat beside Carmine and hugged him as he started to cry again.
Carmine:
Do you wanna build a snowman?
Kara gently patted Carmine on the back as he cried into his sister's shoulder.
Anakin, on the other side of his door, had tears coming to his eyes as well. His back against the other side of the door, the entire room covered with frost and no one but his husky Artoo to keep him company, he hugged himself and cried. Blue flowers started to grow around his room as tears filled his eyes.
