Mace sat alone in his cave, contemplating everything that happened as he made carvings out of pieces of wood he found, trying to distract himself from his thoughts. Key word: trying.

Mace found himself carving a little wooden statue. A beautiful little statue made to look like... Brenda.

The minotaur sighed and found himself filling with so many regrets. He thought he'd had it all, but now he knew what he'd been missing all his life, and he chased it away.

Mace:

I was the one who had it all

I was the master of my fate

I never needed anybody in my life

I learned the truth too late

I'll never shake away the pain

I close my eyes but she's still there

I let her steal into my melancholy heart

It's more than I can bear

Mace stepped outside and took in the view of the mountain; he could swear, somewhere in the distance, he could see Naboo when he reached the other side of his home

Now I know she'll never leave me

Even as she runs away

She will still torment me

Calm me, hurt me

Move me, come what may

Wasting in my lonely mountain

I'll fool myself, she'll walk right in

Mace thought again how he'd felt before. How Brenda unlocked a side of him he'd never realized was within him.

I rage against the trials of love

I curse the fading of the light

Though she's already flown so far beyond my reach

She's never out of sight

Now I know she'll never leave me

Even as she fades from view

Be a part of everything I do

Wasting in my lonely mountain

Mace could only dream now what might've been had he not chased Brenda away. He couldn't deny it anymore. He loved her. And now, she was gone, and so was his noble steed. Or so he thought.

Suddenly, Mace heard the sound of someone shouting out directions.

"The best ones are at the top. Good." said a familiar voice.

Mace froze for a moment. Could it be?

Quickly, Mace followed where he heard the voice to where there were apple trees, and Strawberry was on the ground with a basket, catching falling apples someone was shaking from the branches.

"Strawberry? You came back!" Mace said.

"Oh. It's you." Strawberry said, not sounding happy. "Don't worry, I won't bother your cave. But I did half the work rescuing Brenda, so I get a share of food here from this mountain."

"Strawberry, I understand you're mad at me."

"You think? You're so wrapped up in layers, Onion Boy! I give you friendship and ask nothing in return, and what do you do? You accuse me of gossiping behind your back, and you did the same to Brenda. And all she ever did was like you. Maybe even love you."

"Love me? She said I was dangerous! A threat to the innocent." Mace said, getting upset again. "I heard the two of you talking."

"Then you must've only heard part of the conversation, because Brenda wasn't even talking about you. She was talking about-Ow!" Strawberry was interrupted as an apple fell on her head. "Kelly!"

"Sorry! Thought you were open." Kelly said, flying in his pegasus form, the green leaves and hsi seaweed green body making him hard to see.

Though Mace was shocked to see the kelpie he'd fought before, he was more interested in Strawberry's explanation.

"She wasn't talking about me?" Mace said, sounding hopeful. "Well, then who was she talking about?"

"She made me promise not to tell, if you want to know who, then-"

Suddenly, Strawberry was interrupted when a bunch of people she and Mace recognized suddenly ran from the bushes, but then fell when Carmine tripped on a log and caused the others to fall down.

"Carmine!" Anakin whined. "Get off me!"

"I'd love to, but Obi-Wan's on top of me!" Carmine said.

"What are you guys doing here?" Strawberry said.

"I thought Palpatine said he cleared all the Magics." Mace said.

"Oh, he cleared them all right." Anakin said. "By putting everyone in cages!"

"What?"

Mace couldn't believe that.

"It's true." Padme said. "He captured everyone with new plans for them."

"What kind of plans?" Strawberry asked.

Padme explained to Mace and Strawberry that she and her friends came to learn about Palpatine's upcoming marriage to Princess Brenda, and that he had plans for all the Magics he captured once he married her and became king. Something Padme never shared was that she and her family were the true leaders of Naboo, but Palpatine was a dark wizard who forced them out of power and then erased all non-magic citizens' memory of Naboo's true royal family so he could spread lies about all Magics and take over the kingdom. Many Magics were able to escape when he nearly destroyed the entire land, but he was on the prowl for them. And now that he was officially going to make himself king, he was planning to enslave every Magic and then spread his ways to the other lands too.

Mace couldn't believe this. Not only had he given Brenda to a man who was a tyrannical king-to-be, but he may have put the entire world in danger too!

"What have I done?!" Mace gasped. "The wedding! We'll never make it in time!"

With Strawberry's wing still hurt, there was no way she could fly Mace there. And it was too far to run.

"Maybe not on Strawberry." Kelly said. "But maybe on a dragon."

And Kelly shapeshifted into a large green dragon.

"That's my Kelly." Strawberry said, jumping onto her boyfriend's back. "Well, you coming, Mace?"

Mace already lost Brenda once. He wasn't going to lose her again.

"Let's go save the princess!" Mace said, getting on with Strawberry, and the others too.

Kelly spread his large wings and began the flight as the minotaur and his friends set out to rescue the princess again, but this time, from Palpatine.

Kelly flew a safe distance from Naboo to avoid being spotted. People were starting to gather at the church. It looked like the wedding hadn't started yet.

"The castle is too heavily guarded." Mace said. "Our best bet will be to infiltrate the wedding."

"Even without his guards, Lord Palpatine is very powerful." Padme said. "We'll need more help to fight him."

"But where are we gonna get more help?" Strawberry said. "Everyone sees us as freak shows they'd be glad to be rid of."

"Not everyone." Mace said. "Padme, do you know where Palpatine is keeping the other Magics?"

"In the prison castle on the other side of the kingdom." Padme said.

"Then that's where we're headed."

Magics young and old were crying as they sat in their cells. Wrecker was playing a harmonica, unable to think of anything else.

"Do you really have to play that now?" Crosshair said, getting annoyed.

"Just trying to lighten things up."

"It's no use." Hunter said. "We're never getting out."

Qui-Gon and Shmi were hugging, both of them crying as they feared they'd never see their sons again, not knowing if they survived or if Palpatine's guards took their lives for trying to escape.

But then, the prisoners were all shocked by the sound of loud roars and whinnies, as in, fighting the guards came Mace and Strawberry, as well as Obi-Wan, the twins, and Padme. Mace wrestled the guards like he'd done with the knights, and Strawberry kicked the one with the keys unconscious, giving Padme time to grab them and unlock the cells.

"Don't worry, everyone." Mace said. "We're here to get you out."

Quickly, Strawberry and the others freed everyone from their cells and chains. But even though everyone was happy to be free, Mace has something else to say.

"Everyone, please listen. First of all, I want to say I'm very sorry. I had no clue Palpatine would do this to all of you. Had I known, I might've done differently. Like all of you, I've been treated poorly because of my appearance alone, for being different. I've been selfish, and I thought I was better off alone, and was willing to make others pay the price to get what I thought I wanted. But, I was wrong. And now, I need your help. Princess Brenda is about to wed Palpatine and become a prisoner for the rest of her life just after being rescued from a tower. She needs to be rescued by her true love, and I've come to realize that unlike Palpatine, I do love her."

Strawberry smiled; she knew Mace had feelings for her.

"It's true." Strawberry said. "And Palpatine has taken more than Brenda. He took our families, our friends, our homes, our freedom! He dethroned Padme's family and turned the non-magics against us."

"And he's still holding my husband in that magic mirror." Mariposa said.

"Exactly! But we can break the spell, and take back what's ours!"

"Strawberry and Mace are right." Padme said. "My family once ruled and made Naboo a home for everyone, and then Palpatine swooped in and took it, turning it all around. But if we work together, we can restore the peaceful land Naboo once was! Who's with me?"

The Magics were silent at first. But then, Anakin stepped forward.

"I am." said the boy.

"Me too." Carmine said.

"I as well." Obi-Wan said.

And then, every Magic was stepping up in support of the team.

"I won't sugarcoat this," said Strawberry. "This is gonna be the biggest threat any of us have ever faced combined. But we can do it!"

Strawberry:

Time now to fight

Let's turn our losing streak around

Rise and unite

Let's do what we must do

If we're to win

We can't turn back or sneak around

Once we begin

The only way is through

Padme:

Through the fire, through the rain

We'll face whatever the fates may bring

And tear through every wall

Through the fear, through the pain

Strawberry:

It's not gonna be easy

But it's our only option

Strawberry let Mace onto her back to ride toward the quest.

Strawberry:

We're at your side

Together we'll come through

Everyone grabbed whatever weapons they could find to use against Palpatine. Their magic would work again the moment they left the dungeon, but they would need time to power up.

Everyone:

Through the strife, through the fray

We can't hold back in this time of need

We all must heed the call

Through the dark, to the day

And as one, we will rise

And so, all the Magics young and old, big or small, marched right out of the castle as a group to go and fight Lord Palpatine, save the princess, and free all of Naboo from a tyrant.

Marching tall

Through it all (time now to fight to face whatever fate may bring)

Through it all (right over might 'till victory and freedom ring)

Through it all (stand and unite for home and hearth and land and king)

Yeah

Soon, the royal wedding commenced. Brenda walked sadly down the aisle in her wedding dress, the veil hiding the fact that she was frowning when this should've been the happiest day of her life. She looked up at the altar and realized that she wished Mace would be up there instead of Palpatine.

Brenda couldn't help gasping when she spotted the magic mirror with Garett trapped inside it.

"People of Naboo, we gather here today to bear witness to the union of our new king and queen." the preacher began.

Brenda saw the sun close to setting. Even without the spell to turn her into a siren, she felt cursed even worse. And to be honest, she gagged inside at the mere thought of kissing the groom she was marrying. She wondered, what would happen if she said no when the I do's came?

And she wasn't aware that outside, a whole army was coming to rescue her from what proved to be worse than a fire-breathing dragon.

Kelly managed to scare the guards silly with his shapeshifting abilities. A dragon made them run a hydra made them scream, but turning into a kraken had them soiling themselves. And the other Magics used their powers to fight off any more guards that came to give Mace time to get to the church.

"Hurry, Mace! Hurry!" Padme said.

Strawberry ran quickly toward the church doors with Mace on her back, and she prepared to kick the doors open.

"If anyone objects to this union," said the preacher. "Speak now or forever hold your peace."

All was silent for a moment, until... BANG!

"I OBJECT!" Mace shouted as he rode Strawberry down the aisle, shocking everyone, including the bride and groom.

"Mace?" Brenda gasped happily.

"Oh, now what does he want?" Palpatine groaned.

"Hello, everyone." Mace greeted as people stood up. "Sorry to interrupt. But there is a little something you all need to know about Palpatine before you accept him as your king."

"Actually, a very big something." Strawberry said, letting Mace off her back.

Mace strode up to the couple. But Palpatine attacked verbally.

"Oh, it is bad alive to be present when no one wants you, but to show up uninvited to a wedding-"

"That's totally uncalled for!" Strawberry said angrily, referring to the first half of that last sentence.

"Brenda, I need to talk to you." Mace said.

"Oh, now you want to talk?" Brenda said. "Took you long enough."

"I know, and you can't marry this man. He's only marrying you so he can be king."

"That, I already told her." Strawberry said.

"He's not your true love!' Mace continued.

"And what do you know about true love?" Brenda asked.

"I.... uh..." Mace knew what he wanted to say, but found himself unable to say it.

Strawberry face-hoofed. Men really needed a course on how to express their feelings, she thought.

"Oh, this is precious!" Palpatine laughed. "The minotaur has fallen in love with the princess."

Many others laughed too that a beast like a minotaur could fall in love with a human princess and even think for a moment that she would love him back. But Brenda wasn't laughing. She looked intently at Mace.

"Mace... Is this true?" she asked, hoping he would say yes.

"Who cares?" Palpatine said. "It's preposterous! Brenda, my love. Shall we wed now?"

But this time, Brenda had an answer.

"No." Brenda tossed her bouquet to the floor, making everyone gasp. "We shall not wed. I know now you are not my true love. I would never marry a monster who kicks out an entire population of people for being even the slightest bit different. And clearly, you never even realized I'm not too different from them."

Palaptine was confused. And then, Brenda saw the sun about to set.

"By night one way. By day another." Brenda said, then she looked at Mace. "I wanted to show you before."

And as the sun set, Brenda was quickly surrounded by magic and transformed into a beautiful siren like before.

"Wow..." Mace said, unable to believe Brenda would hide this. The spell just enhanced her natural beauty, at least in his eyes. "That explains a lot."

"You are a monster like all of the others!" Palpatine exclaimed.

"You're the real monster, Palpatine." Strawberry said as the guard started to come. "And before your guards try to arrest us, there's something all the people of Naboo need to know. Boys?"

Anakin and Carmine flew in, grabbed Garrett and held him high.

"Mirror, mirror, high above, who's Naboo's true leader, the real villain of this story, and Princess Brenda's one true love?"

"The answers you seek, I shall show in order." Garrett said.

And sure enough, Garrett's mirror images revealed the true leader of Naboo was Padme, the real villain was Palpatine, and Princess Brenda's one true love, he described was someone who was by her side from the beginning, who came to realize she was the one he needed all along.

But even though Garrett didn't give a straight answer for the last one, everyone in Naboo was in total shock to hear that Palpatine was the real villain.

"Take a good look, everyone." Mace said as Garrett showed Palpatine's doings in the mirror. "This is how Lord Palpatine treats innocent, defenseless children. He may look normal and fine on the outside, but inside he's a bigger monster than most of you believe me to be just by looking at me!"

"He's kicked us all out of our homes for the last time!" Qui-Gon said, marching in with all the Magics.

"YEAH!" the other Magics cheered.

"We're here to take back our home!"

"YEAH!"

Palpatine didn't appear scared though. He decided if these people wanted to fight, he'd give them a fight. Palpatine raised a wand, and thundering clouds filled the air outside. All of Palpatine's guards were quickly under his control even more, now that he cast a spell so they couldn't refuse even if they wanted to.

"I do not need to wed a princess to be king!" Palpatine declared. "Accept me as your king now, or die!"

"If that's how you want to play it." Mace roared and started to fight the guards, as did all the other Magics.

The unicorns and pegasi kicked or used magic horns, merfolk brought waves of water or whacked the enemy with their fish tails, and the fairies and wizards cast several spells. Meanwhile, Mariposa made her way to Garrett and tried to use a spell to get him out of the mirror, but nothing she did worked.

"It's no good, Mari. Only a loving truth can free me." Garrett said.

"But I've said many loving truths to you." Mariposa said with tears in her eyes. "Why hasn't it freed you?"

"It's because this spell was cast specifically for a stranger to have to speak the truth, rather than my own true love. The one who cast this spell knew you would easily be able to break it." Garrett said, his wife placing her hand on the mirror where he'd placed his. How they wished they could kiss each other right then and there. But that would have to wait, as Mariposa had to spread her wings to blind another guard.

All the Magics fought hard, but Palpatine was a lot stronger than they thought; none of them were sure how much longer they could keep fighting.

Strawberry kicked another guard away when she noticed Brenda was the only one not using her powers. She had an idea.

"Brenda, we need you! You have to power up!" Strawberry said.

"Power up? But if I sing, I could endanger people." Brenda said.

"Not if you use your voice the way you want to. Siren or not, your voice is your power! You can do anything you want with it. You just gotta let it out!"

Brenda thought for a moment. The whole world seemed to slow down as she quickly realized where she stood now. As a princess, she was expected to just wait in the tower for someone else to rescue her. Now, lots of people were here to rescue her, but they were having trouble. She knew especially now that she was free, she didn't have to just sit and watch. She could make a difference here and now, showing that princesses were as strong as they were beautiful. And even though she'd been afraid to sing since her curse was first placed, Brenda decided now was as good a time as any to face her fear.

Brenda:

I wanna scream, top of my lungs

Not sitting back, won't hold my tongue

Some things are different than we thought

There's more to life than what we're taught

I'm speaking up

Brenda knew it was unfair for all these people to be forced out of their home simply for characteristics beyond their control. She had a voice with more power than ever, and this was her chance to use it.

'Cause I can't go on this way

But I know I'll face the fire if I say

Brenda decided she was done living life as a traditional princess. She could fight for herself and find her own true love. She couldn't deny it any longer. She loved Mace and wasn't going to care if anyone told her she was crazy for it.

Done living life inside the lines

Following the rules and playing nice

Yeah, I'm stepping up with all my strength

Even if they think it's a mistake

Won't turn my back, I won't close my eyes

On the edge, I'll risk it all

It's worth the chance that I might fall

In his mind, Mace could only think of how crazy things had turned. All this trouble just because he was in love? He'd heard love stories were hard, but now that he was living one, he had to give it to the people who fought so hard. These guys must've been insanely strong to face all odds that tried to stop them from being with their ladies. As a minotaur, he should've been intimidating beautiful women, but instead he fell in love with one. And he was determined to keep fighting for her and marry her.

Mace:

How can I just forget

All the things in my head?

Brenda

Just stand

You just stand

Mace:

And if I stand, will I fall

Mace & Brenda:

Trying to knock down these walls?

Mace:

What if I don't know where I stand?

Brenda:

And as the world came back to reality again, Brenda knew exactly what to do. She took a big breath and vocalized a song (The song Ariel sings when she gives up her voice).

The blue streaks in Brenda's hair glowed as she began to sing, and she sang louder, catching people's attention, but it didn't put anyone into a trance. And when she stopped singing, Palpatine laughed at her saying, "Your siren song cannot affect me, Princess."

"Who said my song was meant for you?" Brenda said, pointing to the window where a large dragon-shaped shadow appeared out the windows, and in popped Kelly as a dragon.

And before Palpatine could make a move, Kelly opened his large mouth and... CHOMP! Kelly ate Palpatine in one bite and one swallow, but he was also grunting in disgust.

"And yet people wonder why they've never actually seen me eat a human." Kelly spat and scraped his tongue.

And with Palpatine eaten, suddenly all the guards were out of their trances.

"No one try any funny business!" Strawberry said. "We got a kelpie here and we're not afraid to use it!"

Kelly looked ready to throw up though, which scared everyone a bit.

"But, you might wanna steer clear when he's nauseous like that."

Kelly just burped in response.

"Excuse me. Better out than in, right?" said the kelpie, making his girlfriend laugh.

With the battle over, Mace walked over to Brenda.

"Brenda...?" Mace said, taking Brenda's hands.

"Yes, Mace?" Brenda said.

Seeing what was about to happen, Mariposa got Garret's mirror closer to the two.

Mace was nervous again; there was so much he wanted to say, but he decided to stick with the three most important words.

"I love you." Mace confessed.

Brenda couldn't believe her ears. She smiled as she saw the sincerity in Mace's eyes.

"Really?" she gasped.

"Really really." Mace blushed.

Brenda giggled. "I love you too."

The two leaned forward, and at long last, their lips finally touched as they shared true love's first kiss. It was such a romantic sight. And as they kissed, sparkles began to appear on Brenda, as well as on the mirror.

No one could believe what was happening. The magic got brighter and brighter with each second, the kind of bright magic that happened when a dark curse was being broken!

Brenda slowly dropped to the floor, and the mirror transformed Garrett from a mirror back into a man!

Garrett looked at himself; he had a whole body again for the first time in what felt like forever.

"I... I'm free! I'm finally free!" Garrett gasped.

"Garrett!" Mariposa exclaimed, running to her husband and kissing him as he embraced her lovingly and tightly in his arms.

Meanwhile, Mace helped Brenda up.

"Brenda... are you okay?" Mace asked.

"I think so." Brenda said, but she looked at herself to find she still had scaly skin. "But I don't understand. I'm supposed to be beautiful."

Mace smiled at her and said, "But you are beautiful."

Brenda smiled again. Now she really knew Mace was her true love, because he thought she was beautiful no matter what she looked like.

"I always love happy endings." Strawberry said with happy tears.

Sometime later...

"I now pronounce you husband and wife, minotaur and siren."

Mace, decked out in a fine brown suit, embracing the beautiful Princess Brenda, was happier than he'd ever been, especially when he and his beautiful new wife finally kissed as a married couple in front of all their friends in attendance. Now there was only one thing left to do: Celebrate!

No wedding or love story was complete without the couple having a dance together.

And the newlyweds weren't the only happy couple celebrating. As odd as it seemed, Strawberry and Kelly were officially a couple now too.

I thought love was only true in fairy tales

Meant for someone else but not for me

That's the way it seemed

Disappointment haunted all my dreams

Dreams were coming true all over the place. With Palpatine gone, Padme was able to take her rightful place as queen of Naboo, and she restored peace to the kingdom and brought back the Magics so they could rebuild their home. And young Anakin decided to ask her to dance, and she accepted.

And then I saw her face

Now I'm a believer

Of doubt in my mind

I couldn't leave her if I tried

And the newlyweds weren't the only happy couple at this wedding. Kelly and Strawberry shared a dance together too.

I thought love was more or less a given thing

More I gave, the less I got, oh yeah

When I wanted sunshine, I got rain

Everyone was dancing and having a good time, especially the couple. No longer were either of them all alone, with Mount Gaia as their new home, and they couldn't wait to build their future together.

And then I saw her face

And soon came the time for the newlyweds to board their carriage to ride away on their honeymoon. But of course, Brenda wouldn't forget to first toss her bouquet.

Naturally, all the single girls tried to go for it, but now that her wing was healed, Strawberry flew up and caught the bouquet in her mouth. And she fluttered her lashes as she got up beside Kelly, who started blushing. He looked at the couple, and Mace's face clearly was telling the kelpie he'd better do Strawberry good.

Looks like another wedding might be happening soon.

"And as you can imagine," said Strawberry. "Like the traditional fairytales, they lived happily ever after."

"Aww!" Myra said, finding that story romantic.

"That was a great story, Strawberry!" Kade said. "Tell another!"

"Maybe tomorrow, Kade." Strawberry said, as everyone had finished dinner and their dessert by the time she finished the story. "Because you know what usually happens after a fairy tale story ends, right? Bedtime."

"Aww!" Kade groaned.

The grownups laughed at Kade's response.

"Don't worry, Kade. There are plenty of stories waiting to be told, and they can definitely wait until you've rested." Brenda said.

So, after bidding goodnight and goodbye to his grandparents Kade was put to bed, and Myra went to bed too.

Kade was so cute when he was asleep, and his parents wouldn't forget to give him goodnight kisses. And Mace and Brenda gave each other a passionate kiss.

"Think our story is living Happily Ever After?" Mace asked his wife.
