Chapter 1: Rey's POV

Less than a week had passed since we had arrived on Tatooine. And yet, with Ben by my side, I already felt at home. We decided to stay in Luke's old moisture farm until we could find or build a place big enough to be turned into a jedi academy. Ben agreed with me that the academy could be our calling. But before we could take in any children, we would need a real home.

"Good morning my little Rey of sunshine." Ben said, coming up to me from behind and wrapping his arms around me. I was still getting used to being in a relationship, and so was Ben. But I didn't stiffen up like I usually do, this time I relaxed into his arms. I smiled at his joke, the one he had been greeting me with every morning.

I turned around to look at his face. I admired his eyes, his hair, and even his scar. The scar I had given him in what seemed like years ago. He smiled right down at me, cupping my cheek with his hand. At first, I thought he was going to kiss me, but he removed his hand from my cheek and patted my head instead. I was disappointed, but I couldn't help but laugh.

I turned back around to the moisture silo I was trying to fix. God, this thing was in terrible shape. Though, I guess that could be expected from something that hadn't been used in probably 50 years. If I found a scrapyard, I was pretty sure I could fix it, but I didn't know where to find the parts.

"What do you want me to do to help you today?" Ben asked. Some days, I couldn't believe that this man used to be the man who wanted to kill my friends and me.  This man used to be Kylo Ren, the man who killed Han Solo. But now that man is gone, Kylo Ren is gone. And Ben Solo, the man who saved my life, stands by my side, helping me.

"Well, I could use some help in finding some scrap pieces. Basically, I need to find a junkyard of some sort." I turned around to him, my mind still thinking of the pieces I would probably need to fix it. I used to be a scavenger, so I took stuff apart. But when you deal with machines in that way, you also learn a thing or two about how they were made. I knew where certain pieces were supposed to go, and what she probably should do. It wasn't much, but it was enough to get us started.

"That might be a little hard, this planet is basically empty." Ben muttered to himself. I kept from laughing at the look on his face, so serious, but still lovable. "We could always ask the lady who comes by every once and a while. Bet she would know where to find those pieces." He suggested.

The lady he was talking about was the first person we met on Tatooine. She was older, but very sweet. I had introduced myself as Rey Skywalker, and to me, that was freeing. It freed me from my past of being alone, and of my real family, the Palpatines, who had done terrible things. I was a separate person, but a Skywalker, like Luke and Leia, two people I would forever remember as people who loved me like family.

"That's a great idea Ben! She should be stopping by tomorrow. I've noticed that she comes by every other day." I said. "Until then, all we can do is wait."

I began to take apart the silo, looking inside to see just how much I can salvage. Ben sat down in the sand next to me, and watched. He seemed content. Soon, he was helping me, though it was obvious he didn't know what he was doing exactly. Together, we laughed and worked. Smiling and happy, together in our own little world.

A/N: Thank you so much for reading this! When someone suggested a sequel to my Rise of Skywalker ending, I knew that I had to do it. I'm not 100% sure how long it's going to be, or exactly what I want to happen. I will write what I feel in my heart will make a good story. For the first chapter, I didn't want to do too much. Hopefully, chapter 2 can out withing the next week or two.

I know that my TRoS ending was written in 3rd person, and I totally planned to write this one the same way. But I prefer to write in 1st person and that's what I ended up doing here. I hope that isn't problem!
