(AN: ANOTHER One of my favorite songs XD. This one's my favorite in the whole soundtrack)

Luigi and Dimentio nervously waited in front of the palace gates, hand in hand. Jaydes had returned earlier, but she didn't speak with them. She seemed to just walk past them and up to her balcony, to be with Grambi and Luvbi. She had still yet to tell the pair if they could leave or not.

It seemed the entire Underwhere was awaiting her answer. All the shaydes waited with Luigi and Dimentio, nervous for their fate. After all, it was in her hands. She was the one who would decide if they could be free or not. It was all up to her.

"What if she doesn't let us go...?" Timpani asked Blumiere, still holding his hand. She turned and looked at him with an almost worried expression on her darkened face. She didn't like this feeling.

But at least she was feeling something.

"She'll say yes..." Blumiere said though he himself was not so sure.

"And if she doesn't?" Timpani pressed. "What if I can't remember you? What if I can't remember our lives from before. I don't want to forget again!"

"Hey... shh, you won't forget again," Blumiere assured, smiling at her and giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. "I promise. I won't let that happen. And if she doesn't let us go, then we'll make new memories. All that matters is that we're together."

This seemed to put her at a little ease. Even though they both knew that it was a flat-out lie. If Luigi were to go away, if that living soul were to be gone, the Underwhere would go back to being the lonely place it was. There would be nothing to stop them from forgetting again. Memories are chained to life, and without any life nearby, those memories fade. But even so, it was easier to believe that things would be okay. It was easier to just be happy now instead of worrying about what the future may or may not hold.

She sighed and leaned her head on his shoulder. She really didn't want to go back to forgetting. Even if these memories she had just made were the only ones she had, she didn't want to let them go. She didn't want to go back to being empty. Empty was not happy. It was just the absence of bad. People should never confuse the absence of bad for happiness. That's not what happiness was.

"I promise, we'll be okay," Blumiere assured, seeing her unease. "We'll remember."

~ Music Start ~

Luigi and Dimentio were still sitting hand in hand when they finally saw someone approaching them.

But instead of Jaydes walking in, they saw Death. And instead of wearing his usual smile, his face actually had expressed a more serious tone.

Uh oh... seeing a serious look on his face was NEVER a good sign.

Luigi: What is it?

Death: Well, the good news is she said that you can go...

Luigi and Dimentio: She did?

Shaydes: She did?

Death: She did,
There's bad news though

Dimentio: What is it?

Death: You can walk,
But it won't be like you planned

Luigi: What do you mean?

Dimentio: Why not?

Death sighed, then turned to Luigi, moving his hands and gesturing as he explained.

Death: Well, you won't be hand in hand
You won't be arm in arm, side by side, and all of that
She said you have to walk in front
And he has to walk in back

Luigi: Why!?

Death: And if you turn around to make sure he's coming too
Then he goes back to Jaydestown
And ain't nothin' you can do

Dimentio: But why?

Death: Why build walls, make folks walk single file?
Divide and conquer is what it's called

Luigi: It's a trap!

Death: It's a trial
Do you trust each other?
Do you trust yourselves?

Luigi and Dimentio: We do

Death: Well, listen, brother
If you wanna walk out of hell
You're gonna have to prove it before gods and men
Can you do that?

Luigi and Dimentio both stood up and nodded.

Luigi and Dimentio: We can

So Death shrugged and readjusted his hat.

Death: A'ight,
Time to go

Luigi: Mr. Death?

Death: Yes...?

Luigi: ...It's not a trick?

Death: No.
It's a test...

The god then placed a hand on the man in green's shoulder, pulling him a few feet away and explaining in a low, honest tone.

Death: The meanest dog you'll ever meet
He ain't the hound dog in the street
He bares some teeth and tears some skin
But brother, that's the worst of him
The dog you really got to dread
Is the one that howls inside your head
It's him who's howling drives men mad
And a mind to its undoing

Luigi nervously looked down as Dimentio walked up behind him and grabbed his shoulder, offering a reassuring smile.

Luigi and Dimentio: Wait for me, I'm coming
Wait, I'm coming with you

They both then turned to see the crowd of shaydes forming behind them.

Shaydes: Show the way so we can see
Show the way the world could be
If you can do it, so can he

Blumiere and Timpani: Show the way!

Shaydes: Show the way the world could be

We will follow where you lead
We will follow with you
Show the way

Luigi hugged Dimentio one last time.

Grambi: Think they'll make it?

Jaydes: I don't know

The man in green then grabbed the shayde's hands.

Shaydes: Show the way

Grambi: Jaydes, you let them go

Shaydes: Show the way

Luigi shakily nodded, then turned around, adjusting his guitar strap so it was tightly on his back.

Jaydes: I let them try

Grambi: And how about you and I?

Luigi then began walking, no longer allowed to look back.

Shaydes: Show the way

Grambi: Are we gonna try again?

The entire Underwhere following in his footsteps.

Shaydes: Show the way

Jaydes: It's time for spring
We'll try again next fall

Grambi: Wait for me?

Jaydes: I will

Dimentio and Shaydes: Wait for me, I'm coming

As he walked, looking forward, he could see the lights of the lanterns the hags were holding as they scowled at him.

Hags: Who are you?
Who do you think you are?
Who are you?
Who are you to lead him?
Who are you to lead them?
Who are you to think that you can hold your head up higher than your fellow man?

Death: You got a lonesome road to walk!
And it ain't along the railroad track,
And it ain't along the black-top tar

Dimentio and Shaydes: Wait for me, I'm coming
