Jaydes: Young man...

Dimentio tensed up upon hearing her cold voice and immediately hunched his shoulders to make himself appear smaller. Meanwhile, Luigi straightened himself up and stood in front of Dimentio as if he was shielding him while the Queen approached them, seeming to glare into Luigi's very soul.

Jaydes: I don't think we've met before
You're not from around here, son
Don't know who the hell you are but I can tell you don't belong
These are workin' people, son
Law-abiding citizens
Go back to where you came from
You're on the wrong side of the fence

Luvbi suddenly came rushing after her mother.

Luvbi: Mother, we know this boy

Jaydes: One of the unemployed

Luvbi: Don't you remember? His name is Luigi!

Jaydes: You stay out of this

Death: Luigi was a poor boy

Jaydes: You hear me, son?

Death: You might say he was naive

Jaydes: You better run!

Death: But this poor boy raised up his voice with his heart out on his sleeve

Dimentio: No!
Luigi, you should go!

Luigi immediately shook his head and spoke up to the Queen.

Luigi: I'm not goin' back alone
I came to take him home.

To this, Jaydes just broke into a fit of loud laughter as if this was the funniest thing she had ever heard. Luigi furrowed his eyebrows in confusion as she continued laughing hysterically.

Jaydes: Who the hell do you think you are?
Who the hell you think you're talkin' to?
He couldn't go anywhere,
Even if he wanted to
You're not from around here, son
If you were, then you would know
That everything and everyone in Jaydestown I own!

Luigi paused, confused. What did she mean by that? What was she saying?

Jaydes: But I
Only buy
What others choose to sell

The queen then smirked and pointed at Dimentio, who was making himself smaller and smaller.

Jaydes: Oh, you didn't know?
He signed the deal himself.

Luigi felt his eyes go wide. That couldn't be true.

Jaydes: And now he,

Luigi: It isn't true.

Jaydes: Belongs to me.

Luigi: It isn't true!
What he said!
Dimentio!

Dimentio: I did.
I do.

Luigi turned and looked at Dimentio, looking utterly shocked.

No...

He couldn't have...

Jaydes: As for you...

She clapped her hands, making a large squad of D-Men suddenly come running from all over.

Jaydes: Everybody gather 'round!
Everybody look and see
What becomes of trespassers with no respect for property!

Jaydes snapped her fingers, and as if on cue, all the D-Men suddenly grabbed ahold of Luigi and pulled him away. Dimentio gasped and tried reaching forward for him, only for two D-Men to rush to him and grab his arms, holding him back so he couldn't go help the man in green.

Luigi tried kicking and squirming as the D-Men dragged him a few feet away, then shoved him to the ground, earning a short yelp from poor Luigi as his head hit the surface. He immediately tried standing back up, only for one of the D-Men to swiftly punch him in the stomach.

"NO!" Dimentio shouted, feeling tears peak in the corners of his eyes as he struggled against the D-Men's grip. He didn't even know that he was capable of still crying. He was completely helpless to what was going on. Meanwhile, the other D-Men kept beating Luigi down, kicking and punching him, making sure HE KNEW that he was no longer welcome here.

"S-STOP! PLEASE!" Dimentio begged, allowing the tears to stream down his face. "YOU'RE HURTING HIM!"

Luvbi quickly covered her eyes and looked down as a D-Man took his spear and pressed it into Luigi's lower left leg, earning a pain-filled scream from him. Tears were falling down the man in green's face as well. The physical pain was unbearable. It stung and it burned. He was afraid and he was hurting.

He could feel his nose begin to bleed and he tasted blood in his mouth. But at least he still bled. It showed that he was at least still alive. Hearing Dimentio's screams showed that he could at least still hear. The feeling of pain showed him that he could at least still feel.

"H-Help..." Luigi whispered as the D-Men continued to kick him in the stomach and punch him in the face. He squeezed his eyes shut and curled up in an attempt to protect himself, but it didn't work. And there was hardly anyone around to hear his cries for help. Those who could hear him couldn't even help him.

And Dimentio felt guilty. Guilty because this was his fault. Luigi was down here because of him. He was the one who couldn't get Luigi to leave in time. Luigi was being hurt because of HIM! Why did he ALWAYS ruin everything that was beautiful?!

Was that all there was to the world? Beauty, then destruction. Love, and then loss. Healing, and then pain. Summer, and then winter. Why could good never just stay good?!

After what felt like lifetimes, Jaydes finally held up her hand, signifying for the D-Men to stop. The D-Men all slowly drew back, bowing their heads to her, then leaving without another word.

The two D-Men holding Dimentio let him go, allowing Dimentio to rush forward and kneel down by Luigi, who was curled up on the ground, trembling.

"If you know what's good for him," Jaydes stated, turning to leave. "You'd make him leave."

Dimentio didn't look up at her. He just lay down on the ground next to Luigi and hugged him tightly from behind, sobbing into the man in green's back as the Queen of the Underwhere left.

"Luigi..." He whispered, sobbing. "Luigi, I'm so sorry. Please-"

"No..." Luigi hiccuped, curling in on himself more. "Don't... don't be sorry."

The man in green winced, then slowly forced himself to sit up, brushing Dimentio off of him. His face was cut and bruised. His hat and clothes were torn in multiple spots. This was actually one of the first times Dimentio had seen him in his original outfit, the classic green shirt and overalls instead of the black jumpsuit and bandana. He thought that the overalls suited him better, but not like this. He didn't like seeing them all torn up and broken.

"L-Luigi?" Dimentio asked. "Y-Your face. It's-"

"I'll be okay..." Luigi sighed, shaking his head and looking down at the ground. "I'll be okay..."

Dimentio wasn't sure who Luigi was trying to convince by saying that. He clearly wasn't okay. He had come all this way just to be beaten and sent back. There was NOTHING okay about this!

And yet, there was also nothing that could be done about this either. They really were between a rock and a hard place.

"You..." Dimentio breathed, biting his lip and looking down. "You should go. Please... Luigi, Please go. I can bear watching that happen to you again. Please go."

Luigi just paused, staying silent as the waves of pain didn't cease.

Was there really nothing he could do? Had Dimentio really signed his life away?

Was it really true?

If it was... then there was nothing to be done. There was nothing left to do but give up.

"Okay..." Luigi breathed, feeling more tears well up in his eyes. He had never taken failure well, but this stung worse than anything ever had before.

"Okay," Dimentio repeated, helping Luigi to his feet and wiping the man in green's tears away.
