If Only I Could Make You Mine

This is a continuation of the last part.

This was it. Today was the day that Jay and Nya would tell the others that they would be stepping back from being ninja. They need this. They've spent so much time doing what's best for Ninjago that they haven't been able to think much about what they want. Now, they're doing something they both want to do.

Nya remembers how shortly after she met Jay, she was walking past his room and heard him say, "If only I could make you mine." She took a peek into his room since the door was slightly open and saw that he was looking at a picture of her while saying that. At that point, Nya suspected that Jay had a crush on her, but hearing him say that just confirmed it. Nya didn't really think it was creepy like a normal person might. Nya thought it was cute and that might have been the first time Nya thought about what it would be like to date Jay. That's why she agreed the first time Jay asked her out. She was already thinking about the two of them potentially in a relationship. Yes, she made some stupid mistakes that almost jeopardized her relationship with Jay, but she thinks that maybe those mistakes made their relationship stronger.

Now, Jay accomplished what he wanted in that sentence Nya had overheard such a long time ago.  There is no doubt that Jay is the love of her life.  There is nobody she would rather be with.  She was meant to be with Jay.   She wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.  That's why they need to step away.  To try to have their life together.  Without bad guys threatening their happiness.  It won't be like they'll be completely unreachable.  They'll come back if the others need them.  They will, but they don't want being ninja to take up all of their lives anymore.  It's time.

The two already found an apartment to rent.  They just signed the rental agreement yesterday and they're going to start to move in tomorrow.  That's why they have to tell the others today.  Of course, they do need money to be able to rent the apartment.  Nya actually was offered a job by Cyrus Borg.  He's one of the only people who knows of Jay and Nya stepping back and he was more than willing to offer her a job.  Jay actually had recently started contacting some of his old friends that he went to school with before becoming a ninja and they said they were creating a start-up tech company and said they would love to have Jay's expertise to help them.  He accepted.  With an apartment and jobs set in place, all that was left was to tell the others.

Nya was currently packing up her room.  She knew Jay had been packing also.  The others haven't noticed.  They've been happy about that.  They wanted to explain to the others when they were ready.  As Nya taped up the box she was working on, she looked around her room.  There were piles of boxes of her stuff.  She still had more to pack.  It felt weird after all the time she spent in the monastery.  She was leaving it all behind for a life with Jay.  What they were doing felt right, but she also couldn't help but feel sentimental.  Being ninja had taken over their lives for so long.  They're closing one chapter of their lives and opening another.

She stepped out of her bedroom and saw Jay standing in the hall.  "I was just coming to get you," Jay said to her.  "The others are all in the training yard.  I figured now would be a good time to tell them."  Nya nodded.  It was time.

The two of them waled out to the training yard hand in hand.  There, they saw Lloyd, Cole, Kai, and Zane training with Wu watching over them.  "Nice of you two to finally join us," Kai said as he saw the two come out of the monastery.

"We actually have something to tell you guys," Nya said.

"Nya and I have been talking and..." Jay trailed off for a minute to try to decide the best way to word it.  "We decided to step back from being ninja."

Immediately, the others stopped what they were doing and stared at the two.  None of them were expecting that.

"What?  Why?" Cole spoke first.

"After everything that's happened, we want to be able to settle down," Nya said.  "We already got an apartment in Ninjago City and jobs lined up to start next week.  We'll come back if you ever need us to, but we feel like we need to do this."

"It won't be the same around here without you two," Lloyd said as he walked over and gave them both a hug.

"You guys will manage," Jay said as Cole, Kai, and Zane joined in the group hug.

1 year later

Jay and Nya had been doing well for themselves.  They have been enjoying having a bit more of a quiet life.  No fighting.  No worrying all the time.  It was just the two of them and neither was in danger due to the next threat.  It looked like Skylor and PIXAL have been playing a major role in helping the others since they left.  They saw it on the news.  It looked like they also got Seliel to help.  Nya hasn't been able to talk to Kai much as he's always busy, but he fills her in on what's going on when he's able to.  The others have joined in on Kai's phone call to Nya a couple times.  Jay and Nya have spent a lot of time with their parents who visit almost every weekend now.  It does get a little annoying sometimes, but they did miss their parents when they was saving Ninjago so it was nice to see them so much.

Then, they got a call from Lloyd.  There was something going on that worried even Wu.  They needed Jay and Nya to suit up again.  The two quickly hurried over and what happened next was a bit of a blur.  Nya remembers them being on the Bounty.  She remembers how worried Wu was about what was happening and then darkness.  She woke up and didn't see anybody.  "Jay!" she shouted, but he was nowhere to be seen.  She also called out to the others, but they weren't there either.  She didn't know what happened and now, she was alone.  She really wishes she didn't answer Lloyd's call.

A/N: I hope you enjoyed!
