Jax And AFI in Grand Gaia-land

Jax POV
Today was.... Strange to say the least. Sure it started off pretty normal, getting up, getting dressed in my neat school uniform, white shirt and black blazer with black pants and a tie, brushing my teeth, walking to school, you know, normal things. When I got to school I checked up on my homework, played a game or two on my school iPad, as you do, waved hi to AFI when he walked in, chatted with the sports kids, had a nerd chat with Sainter and then the bell sounded. Me and AFI walked to class together, nerding out about his favourite game, Brave Frontier. It's a game where you play the role of a summoner, a human who can call upon the spirits of those who died in a war against gods, later against demons. AFI was specifically obsessed with the unit "Alyut", a light guardian who worked for the gods, although I knew that Mifune was way better with his giant sword and spirit dragons. We always argued about which was better, but never reached a conclusion. It was actually quite the vicious cycle.
We walked into Maths, nervous of failing today's test even though we had rechecked our textbooks a thousand times. We both sat in the back of the classroom, huddled up against the wall as the teacher walks in. He set up his books and laptop, telling us to get ready for the test. Just as we started to unzip our pencil cases, we can hear a loud crack echo throughout the classroom. Both of our heads shot up, shocked by the sound, but not a single other person had looked up or even acknowledged the sound. We looked around, confused, when suddenly a hole appeared in the wall next to me, swirling black and red. I reached up to my wireless headphones, switching them off as I look at this new hole in the wall. We couldn't see anyone or anything on the other side of the hole, not even the symmetrical building that you could easily see through the window just above the hole. We look at each other, silently communicating with our eyes and bodies. He nods at the hole, telling me to do something. So I do the brave thing and I poke it. Instead of stopping on it, since it seems to be pretty solid, my hand sinks into it, as if it was jelly or goo. I try to remove my hand, but it seems to be stuck in there firmly.
I look at AFI, beginning to panic. "Dude, I can't move my hand." I whisper, clutching my pencil case in my other hand as hard as possible as a defensive mechanism. Suddenly, I feel a huge gust of wind pulling me in, catching me by surprise. I screamed, admittedly like a girl, as I feel myself getting sucked through up to my waist. I can feel AFI grabbing my leg, keeping me in the classroom somewhat. Unfortunately, it was not enough, as the suction increases, dragging both of us fully into the hole. It closes behind us, leaving the 'room' entirely black. We just drift through space, not quite uncomfortably, but not exactly enjoying our time either.
Suddenly, a bright white light appears, dragging us towards it, engulfing us as we come too close. The next thing I know, we are falling down towards a grassy clearing in a forest, not falling very far, but we are not falling a distance to laugh at either. Unfortunately, I'm falling faster, meaning AFI fell on top of me. Luckily though, he's not very heavy compared to me. He's 30cm shorter than me and has much less of a solid build, causing a significant drop in weight. If it was the other way around, AFI would likely be a red puddle. I slide out from under him, letting him stand up in his own time rather than picking him up. He rubbed his head, likely because of the fact that he had bonked his head against my bony chest.
"Where are we?" He asked, rubbing his head. "I'm not quite sure, but I believe that they called it a 'forest' back home AFI. You'll have to give me some time to check back with you though." I say, rolling my eyes. "Oh yeah, no shit Sherlock. Either way, I'm pretty sure we aren't in the classroom anymore. Wait a minute. What is that?" He says, pointing at a small moving tree. I tap the ground a couple of times, thinking about what we have spoken about lately. "I think it's a Mandragora." I say, in disbelief at my own words. "Dude. That means we're in Brave Frontier! Presumably before the war. Wow. I mean..." AFI says, drifting off into mumbling. I look at the Mandragora, realising that it was staring straight at us. I look over at AFI again, who is still mumbling to himself, before I step in front of AFI. I don't plan on becoming a martyr today, but I've gotta protect my little friend. The Mandragora starts opening its mouth, and something in me clicks, reminding me how they attack in the game. "MOVE AFI" I say, slapping him in the face and diving to the side as a flurry of razor sharp leaves attack the space that I was only just occupying. He comes to just as a leaf rushes at him, dodging to the side awkwardly and falling on his face.
Fuelled by adrenalin and not properly thinking, I rush at the small sapling, raising my hand and balling into a fist. I punch it as hard as I can, pushing it back slightly and shaking my hand like crazy. At that moment, I realise that it hadn't hurt my hand to smash it into solid wood. Okay. I ran backwards to avoid another rush of leaves, finding myself in the exact same position I had been in before. AFI lunged out at the creature next, punching it with a solid thud before kicking it and losing his balance, falling backwards. I took in a deep intake of breath, trying to focus, but instead of nice, cool air, I found myself feeling all tingly and excited. I don't know what is in the air here, but I like it! "Hey AFI, take a deep breath. You feel anything?" I yelled, seeing him shudder at the intake of air. "Yep!" He called back.
The Mandragora opened its mouth again, readying another barrage of leaves, but suddenly I felt myself at a peak, if you will, a goofy grin plastered to my face as I stared down my opponent. The tingly feeling spread throughout me, going everywhere from my toes to my hair until suddenly, I felt a small warm sensation in my hand. When I looked down at them, I saw a crackling red ball of flame engulfing my fists. I tried to shake it off, eventually doing the good old stop, drop and roll while the Mandragora looked at me, something resembling confusion on its face, but nothing put the fire out. "Wait a second. This should hurt, shouldn't it?" I said, thinking out loud. The flames still hadn't harmed a single nerve on my hand and from where I was, it looked like my hand was neither singed nor burning. It was at that point that I got a probably stupid idea. I looked at the small tree monster with a wolfish grin as I walked slowly over to it, hands balled into fists. It opened its mouth to try to spit more leaves at me, but I threw my pencil case at it, ramming it firm in its mouth and preventing it from using its magic. Cracking my knuckles, I look at it, using my eyes to survey it's body for any weak points. Finding none, I decide to go with simplicity. I grab the small tree with my hand, proving to me just how small it is, and I throw it against a tree, letting it make a nice thump sound before I run over and punch it twice, shaking the tree each time, the flames somehow not setting anything alight. However, once the two punches are done, the fire extinguishes and I feel tired and sluggish. Not enough to discourage or stop fighting, but just enough to prove to me the absence of the tingly feeling, like when we had first fell into the clearing. I look at my hands again, which are, as I suspected, unburnt and unscathed, as if nothing had happened. When I look at the Mandragora again, it looks like it's a decomposing flower, dead and wilting. Before my very eyes, it turns into nothing, it's body presumably being made into energy for the trees or something.
The adrenalin wearing off, I walk quickly to AFI, a smile on my face and a spring in my step. "Why are you so happy all of a sudden?" He asks me. Usually I was grumpy and annoyed, but now I was happier than him and he was looking scared and confused, which was very rare indeed. "I'm a fire type, that's what" I say, laughing. He knows me. Fire is my one true love. He looks at me, confused and then he asks me another question. "What am I then?" He says, checking his hands incase they burst into flames or suddenly started crackling with lightning. "Guess we'll find out, huh?" I say, ruffling his hair, which easing me a murderous look from my shorter companion.
"Let's check what we have then!" I said, sitting down near where I had dropped my pencil case upon landing here. Unzipping it, I dug out my two pairs of scissors and my pens, pencils, my small red notebook and my eraser. The scissors might be useful for carving something up, especially with Grand Gaia's physics. The other stuff was just for when I get bored. AFI came over with just his own pencil case, digging out his own pair of scissors and pens. We both turn out our pockets, trying to find something of use, but all we find is my Myki and my phone, which of course, has no signal. I kept it with me anyways, just to keep the few memories I have on it so I can't forget them if we end up being stuck here. So, we have three scissors, various stationary, my Myki, my phone and my headphones. Great... "We are so screwed..." He muttered, looking at the ground. "Nah, we'll do fine!" I tell him, messing his hair up even more before springing up and looking around the clearing. "If we are in Grand Gaia, I guess this'll have to be our village for now, huh AFI?" I yell, slapping an oak tree to get his attention.

Done. That was what we concocted on Day one of working on this. I finished this in bed and can't be bothered remembering the next chapter, so you'll have to wait until me and AFI meet again tomorrow for it :P
