Memories

Speckles ran through the forest, absorbing all of the familiar sights. Then something caught his eye. He saw an incredibly familiar cave. This was his very first home. The cave he was born in. He sniffed around, no one has been in this cave since they left. The smell was still there. He smelled his mother and his papa. He smelled his three siblings. It had been a long time since he had seen them and he could barely remember their voices. Tears of joy, anger and sadness had all gathered in his eyes slowly falling down his face. He then saw something drawn in the dirt in one of the corners of the cave. He slowly walked towards it and saw a drawing of his family. He and Rory had worked on it. They had drawn the entire family and then drew a hart around it. He stared at it getting lost in his thoughts when suddenly a tear dropped from his face and on the drawing which caused him to flinch.
"Speckles?" Cora asked worriedly, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I just really miss them," Speckles replied.
"Oh,"
Speckles then walked out of the cave and looked up towards a high cliff. He then smiled and ran towards it. He began climbing the cliff, digging his claws into the rock. He slipped and fell, landing on Lava's nose. She chuckled and helped him back up. He then began climbing again, this time digging his claws further into the rock. As he climbed, a few pieces of the rock fell nearly hitting Lava and Cora. They dodged them even though there was no need. The rocks were to small to do any damage except for a small bruise. Speckles finally climbed his way up looking at the familiar ledge. The pond was still there, the greenery around the pond and cave was still there. Everything was just as he left it. He loved this place and wanted to stay here forever but he knew that he would have to leave soon. Cora climbed up easily, followed by Lava,m. However, she was much to big to fit in the cave. Lava sat on the ledge looking out into the distance. The sun was setting, decorating the sky with beautiful yellows, oranges, and pinks. Cora and Speckles sat down next to the huge giginotosaurus and watched the sunset together.
Speckles woke up in the middle of the night inside the cave. He saw Cora, sleeping against him as her brown feathers met with his blue ones. She curled up against him sleeping peacefully. He looked out to see Lava curled up outside, sleeping. Beyond her, he could see the stars dotting the night sky. The stars surrounded the gibbous moon that stood out against them. Tiredness began to take over as he rested his head against Cora's brown feathers. He fell asleep feeling her body heat, radiating into his body.
"Wake up you two," A familiar female voice called. Speckles moaned and reluctantly opened his eyes seeing Lava's dark form. He sighed and closed his eyes. Lava instantly noticed and nudged them with her nose, waking both of them. Slowly, Speckles got up, giving Cora room to stretch.
"We have hunting to do," Lava said as she backed up out of the cave.
"Ugh," sighed Speckles as he slowly walked out of the cave. He had a headache but couldn't remember why. All he remembered was watching the sunset and waking up in the middle of the night.
"What's wrong Speckles," Cora asked.
"I have a headache but I don't remember why."
"Oh yeeeeaaah," Cora said remembering, "Well last night, before we went to bed we chased each other around the cave until you bumped your head. You said it was nothing and I said that we should stop for now. So we did and we curled up next to each other. Then your head began to hurt so I licked the spot where you numbed your head and then you said you felt better and then we dozed off,"
"Oh," Speckles said rubbing his head.
"Come on you two," Lava said slightly annoyed, "I have found something that smells delicious and we better go kill it or else we're gonna lose it,"
Cora and Speckles looked up at Lava as she turned around and crouched down. Speckles and Cora followed her and soon found themselves chasing an adolescent Iguanadon.
Speckles ran ahead and jumped, landing on top of it. He then began ripping the flesh off of the iguanadon as it called out in pain. It threw Speckles off, knocking him into a tree. Lava then bit down on the iguanadon and threw it up in the air. It landed with such force, shattering it's spin. It winced in pain trying to get up, but its entire body went limp. It was paralyzed. A dinosaur's worse fear. Speckles got up and stretched then walked over towards their meal. Cora but into it ripping up the flesh. Then the other two dug in, not caring that the iguanadon was still alive. Speckles dug into its stomach, ripping out all of its organs as it slowly began to bleed out.
