Failed Escape
Speckles looked out into the distance as he stood on the ledge while Cora was messing with Lava. Cora ran around Lava's legs laughing while Lava tried to catch her. When she finally caught her, she took Cora over to the ledge and dangled her like she was going to drop her. Of coarse Cora knew that Lava's firm grip wouldn't drop her, but it was still quite frightening. She laughed and squealed as Lava swayed Cora in her mouth, still dangling her over the edge. She then loosened her grip a little to scare her and she chuckled as she heard Cora scream and kick her legs.
"I'm gonna let go if you keep kicking," Lava chuckled as Cora stopped and stared at Lava's red eyes with her hazel ones. Lava then turned around and set her down next to Speckles who had that glint in his eye like he was about to go on another adventure.
"Where are we going next Speckles?" Cora asked.
"How did you know?" Speckles asked surprised.
"Because I lo..." she paused for a second, "I know you,"
Speckles raised an eyebrow as he smirked, knowing what she was about to say, "Alright Cora. You have been hiding this ever since you met me. Just say it."
"Shuddup," she said in embarrassment, "Just tell me where you are going. Well, planning to go."
"I don't know exactly, but i know which way I'm going," he said looking down at his feet, "W-will you go with me,"
"Of coarse Speckles," Cora said as she looked at him with a beautiful light in her eyes, "You're my best friend,"
"Oh it's more than that," Speckles smirked.
"What do you mean?" Cora asked confused.
"You know you want me," Speckles said as his smirk turned into a grin.
"You want me back," she laughed as she turned away.
"Shut up!" Speckles said following Cora.
"Then why do you follow me?" Cora asked as Speckles looked down at his feet not knowing what to say next, "Got ya!"
Speckles frowned, but couldn't contain his laughter and they laughed together. Lava rolled her eyes after listening to every word they said, "You know if you go any where, I'm coming with you."
"Awww," Speckles and Cora whined, "Why?"
"I don't want things to get, well too serious," Lava said as she stalked down the mountain.
"Y-you were, "Speckles began, "You heard everything?"
"Yeah! Now come on lovebirds," Lava teased, "I'm hungry and we are going hunting."
"Yeah come on perv," Cora said as she followed Lava.
"I'm not a perv," Speckles growled.
"Oh come on. I see you lookin at me," Cora chuckled continuing to follow Lava.
Speckles let a low growl escape his snout as he followed the two females, stalking behind them. He continued to walk behind them for a few hours until he caught something familiar. He looked as there was a clearing in the forest and he realized that this was the way to go to get to the place he has been longing to go to. He looked back at Cora as she continued to follow Lava. He nudged her and she looked back at him. He gestured towards the area where they needed to go and the snuck over there without Lava noticing. When they were sure that they were out of Lava's sight, they frolecked into the medow and tackled each other for half an hour until sun down. That's when they heard Lava's calls for them.
"Speckles! Cora!"
"Uh oh" Cora whispered as they hid in the meadow. Cora and Speckles huddled together hoping not to make a sound. Then they heard Lava sigh and walk off. Cora and Speckles sighed in relief but were too tired to wrestle each other again for they had an unfinished match. Instead they found a decent cave and fell asleep next to each other. What they didn't know was that Lava was waiting for them nearby.
The next morning Cora woke up cuddled next to Speckles, wondering what went on last night. She shrugged it off and nudged Speckles and saw as he opened his bright amber eyes. She then smirked at him and he looked back at her with confusion.
"I told you," Cora said with a grin.
"Told me what?" Speckles yawned as he snuggled closer to her hoping to go back to sleep,
"That you want me."
"I know," he said shocking Cora as she cocked her head in surprise, "That's why you love me,"
"Oh you sly little raptor," Cora said as she nestled her head on his feathered body.
"Ahem," Lava snorted as Speckles and Cora looked in her direction, slightly embarrassed, "Now don't you two know that I told you that if you were planning on going anywhere, I have to come with."
"Umm," Speckles said as he looked at Lava with guilt.
"Don't worry. I will not tell Cora's mother about what went on last night but you two have to stay with me. I don't wanna anger anybody for letting you guys get yourselves killed."
"We won't get ourselves killed," Cora stated.
"Yeah because you'll have me," Lava said as she picked the two raptors up as the began to complain. They both gave up and just dangled in Lava's jaws as she stalked away from the meadow. From a distance they heard the sound of a huge dinosaur rampage through the forest and kill a herd of edmontosauruses. They all cringed at the sound of the herbivores crying out in pain as they were ripped apart and some even eaten alive. They were glad to not have seen it but even hearing it was horrifying.
"No," Speckles said remembering the horrible sights of that Spinosaurus and the death of his family, "No! NO! I CANNOT LIVE THROUGH THIS AGAIN!" he shouted as he ran underneath Lava as the two females looked at each other in confusion.
