Chapter Twelve, First Day Woes

Chapter Twelve, First Day Woes

Previously on Jasper's Sunshine:

No matter what Charlie said, that is what her sister was: a FREAK!!!
"So, does that mean you love me more because I got a car, and she didn't?" Bella asked smugly.

Billy shook his head, pulling Imogen into a tight hug which Jacob joined in as he played with her hair to soothe her. No matter what she said both father and son knew that Isabella's words and attitude did in fact affect her. Imogen, their ray of Sunshine, was simply too good for this world.
"No of course not!" Charlie exclaimed, appalled by her behaviour and her words. He didn't recognise the girl before him. "I love you both equally and I got you a car from Billy," Charlie gestured to his friend, "so you could get to school and eventually work.

Imogen isn't able to drive due to her migraines. So she either gets lifts from her friends or boyfriend or she and her best friend walk to school as they have always done. That is another thing, do not take her injections out of the mini fridge in some petty revenge attempt otherwise the replacement ones will be coming out of your pocket!" Charlie warned her, Isabella let out another angry screech as she stomped upstairs, screeching like a banshee that this was all Imogen's fault and she had ruined her life, as she slammed her bedroom door shut. "We're having fish fry for dinner!" He shouted upstairs.

"I DON'T WANT IT!!!" Isabella screamed.
"Go hungry then." Charlie sighed, dragging a hand down his face tiredly. "She's definitely been spoiled by Renee and Phil, her new husband. Allowed to get away with whatever she wants and do whatever she wants, well she is in for a rude and quick awakening. I'm sorry Sunshine, Billy, Jake." Charlie apologised, hugging his daughter and kissing her forehead before he hugged Billy and Jacob.

"It's not your fault, Charlie." Billy assured his longtime friend, patting him on the arm as he wheeled himself into the living room and heaved himself into an armchair where he was shortly joined by a ball of orange and white fluff otherwise known as Patch as he jumped up on his lap asking for strokes.
"How was your day, Sunshine?" Charlie and Billy asked as Imogen and Jacob set the fish fry and some chips on four plates.

"It was really good. I got myself and Paul some new easels and some art sets, crystal bracelets for everyone to protect from negative energy, some other crystals – topaz, rose quartz, clear quartz and amethyst – toys, treats and food for Patch and Shadow," everyone laughed when Patch and Shadow ran into the kitchen at the mention of food.
"Here you go." Imogen laughed, putting some food into their bowls and giving them a couple of treats each before she carried her Dad's food and drink into the living room, while Jacob gave his Dad his, before they went back for their own.

"Let's see then." Jacob requested, eager to see what Imogen had brought. All three men thanked her for their crystal bracelets as they slipped them on to their wrists. They were eager to see what she would create with these new art supplies which were amazing as both Billy and her Dad had a painting of hers hanging up in their home above the mantelpiece.

For the following half, an hour before the baseball game would start they each spoke of how their day was and watched as Imogen showed them her purchases feeling more relaxed than they had done half hour ago. Although it each made them wonder whether this was a one off or was Bella's arrival the bringer of a storm of drama and despair?

Chapter Twelve, First Day Woes

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, FREAK!!!" A screech of a banshee or otherwise known as Isabella Swan made Imogen jump and nearly dislodge the AJovy EpiPen from her left thigh but thankfully she had been sat at the kitchen table and heard her stomping down the stairs, plus Ella, who had come over last night (with permission) due to what happened, steadied her.
"That's another week you're grounded, Isabella." Charlie stated sharply from behind her as he entered the kitchen.

"Your coffee is over there, Daddy." Imogen nodded to the world's best Dad mug beside the kettle as she took the pen from her leg and put it in the sharps pin before she pressed a gauze to her thigh for ten seconds before putting that in the sharps bin too.
"Thank you sweetie." Charlie smiled, kissing Imogen's head as he rounded the table to collect his coffee and place Imogen's tablets in front of her seat. "Good morning Sunshine. Good morning Ella."

"Good morning Charlie." Ella smiled tiredly at the man who was like a second father to her. She was so happy when both her own father, Charlie and Harry Clearwater supported her when both she and Leah came out and started dating. The first one they told was of course Imogen who practically beamed happiness.
"Thanks Dad." Imogen smiled, getting up to get herself some porridge and banana for breakfast; unfortunately, it revealed her outfit to Bella which just so happened to be her cheerleading outfit as she had practiced first thing.

"You're a cheerleader too!" Bella screeched. "And you're one too!" She screeched at Ella who just scoffed and rolled her eyes at her too tired to answer as she sipped her coffee. Plus she couldn't be bothered to answer Bella.
"Can you not speak in a normal volume?" Imogen asked incredulously. "We do have neighbours who work nights you know! And sometimes Daddy works nights, he just so happens to have the day off."
"So basically, you're both sluts!" Bella stated victoriously, grinning as if she had just revealed a tightly held secret as Charlie choked on his coffee.
"ISABELLA!!" Charlie shouted, his throat raspy from burning his throat on hot coffee and from his coughing fit.

"What!?" Bella asked, annoyed. This conversation wasn't going the way she wanted it to. "They are! Mum says all cheerleaders sleep their way through the football team which means Imogen is sleeping with them behind her so-called boyfriend's back. Probably the boy who was here last night, it's why she warned me off him so she can have him. Don't know why anyone could possibly want her. I mean look at her!"

"That's it! I've had enough!" Charlie snapped, banging his hands on the kitchen table making Imogen and Ella jump. He sends them an apologetic look before he turns angrily back to his eldest. "I'm signing you up to work at the diner so you can learn some social skills, understanding and empathy as apparently your mother never taught you any. You are to meet me there after school where you will eat with me before you start work. End of discussion, get to school!"

"I'm so sorry girls." Charlie apologised, sighing tiredly as the front door slammed behind his eldest daughter. He knew it was far too early at the moment, but it was the only thing he could think of to stop her tirade.
"It's okay, Charlie. It's not your fault, obviously that's her mother." Ella scoffed, shaking her head. Thanking Imogen for the bowl of cereal that was passed to her.
"Daddy, is it okay if I go to the Rez with Ella after school? We were all planning to go surfing and Paul wanted to do some painting with me. It's not going too well with his Dad at the moment." Imogen asked.

"Of course baby." Charlie agreed, reaching over to squeeze her hand reassuringly. "What are you both painting this time? Tell Paul I will speak to Tenoch Lahote if he needs me too."
"I will thank you Daddy, and it's a surprise." Imogen smiled at her Dad with a mischievous glint in her bright blue eyes. "Patch and Shadow have been fed and they are asleep on my bed now."

"Now Bella's gone they'll most likely come back down to have cuddles before we leave." Ella stated, making Imogen giggle while Charlie tried to hide his laughter; tried being the keyword as the next moment Patch and Shadow came running downstairs chasing each other around the kitchen, living room and then back upstairs. The three of them shared a look before they delved into laughter again. Once she had calmed down Imogen pulled her phone out of her bag that sat at her feet to text Paul while Ella text Leah in the group chat the three of them had.

Immy: Surfing and Painting is a go!
Immy: Daddy said if you need him to talk to HIM then he will.

Paulie: I know and thank Charlie for me please Immy.
Paulie: Can't wait to surf and paint later. Need to relax. Painting with you is the only thing that calms me since I phased.

Paulie: OH! I know you and Ell like to go hiking in the woods but stay out of them for now there's been some rouges roaming around. Don't want anything to happen to you. Either of you. I bet Jasper will tell you the same.

Immy: I'm glad I can help my big brother Paulie! And we will do. I'll let Daddy know, too.

{Black Cat Coven group chat: Immy, Ell, Lee-Lee}

Ell: Well Sunshine and I have been slut shamed.

Lee-Lee: WHAT!!!

Lee-Lee: THAT BITCH!!! BITCHELLA NEEDS TO WATCH HERSELF!!

Ell: Calm down love. Just think I'm all yours and we get to go surfing with Sunshine after school and put all those boys to shame.

Immy: They won't know what happened!

Lee-Lee: Sunshine, are you okay?

Lee-Lee: Love, are you okay?

Immy: I'm okay Lee-Lee. I'm just sorry Ell got dragged into it. Apparently my so-called mother told her that all cheerleaders are sluts cause they sleep with the entire football team and that I must be doing that and cheating on Jazz.

Ell: HEY! It's not your fault, Immy.

"I mean it, Immy." Ella insisted out loud.
"What?" Charlie asked, confused, looking up from the newspaper he had been reading. He did enjoy his quiet mornings with Imogen and sometimes with Ella as well, she was like a second daughter to him after all. It was just a pity that his actual eldest daughter acted like a spoiled brat.
"She's blaming herself for Bella calling me a slut." Ella told him.
"Ella's right, Sunshine." Charlie insisted firmly.

"It's no one's fault but Bella's and your mother's. Okay?" He asked, a smile creeping across his face when Imogen nodded. "Good." At that moment, a car horn beeps outside. Looking at the clock on the wall, Imogen guessed who it was.
"That must be Savannah. Bye Daddy, have a good day. Make sure you relax." Imogen said, kissing his cheek and hugging him quickly.
"Okay girls have a good day, and I'll see you later." Charlie said, seeing them out of the front door, nodding to Savannah Smith, the Head Cheerleader.

Charlie stood at the door until the car drove off before he headed back inside to change the cat litters before he relaxed in front of the TV for a change. He had well and truly earned this day off and he was going to make good use of it before he had to go and speak to Cora who owned the diner about Bella having a job there. He really didn't know what he was going to do with her.

***

As lunch time rolled around Imogen and Ella walked in with Jasper, Alice, Storm, Emmett and Rosalie telling them all about this morning and what happened with Bella before telling them how practice went. They were all impressed and excited for the girls when they told them that they are nearly ready for the cheer competitions; ever since Imogen's suggestion two years ago they have won the local competition for the last two years running. However, they were not impressed with Bella and all that she said to the girls this morning. Not one bit.
"I take it he's still not going to sit with us." Ella scoffed, noticing that Edward was sitting at a table all on his own. He has done for the past two years ever since Imogen and Ella started sitting with them.

"He can get on with it." Rosalie scoffed, sending a sneer over to her so-called brother who chose to cut his own nose off to spite his face. No one forced him out, he chose to sit by himself, just like how he chose to be ungrateful and not wear the bracelet that Immy, Ell and Leah had made for him. So he was the only one that still resembled his vampiric appearance while the rest of them, including Carlisle and Esme, could eat and drink and go out in the sunlight with no issue. They even had their own eye colour once again – thankfully, everyone just thought Edward was wearing coloured contacts – Rosalie honestly thought he was being pathetic.

"Who are my fre-sister and her friend sitting with?" They heard Bella ask which made Jasper, Rosalie, Emmett, Storm and Alice growl.
"Those are the Cullens." Jessica Stanely whispered in a staged whisper. "They're all like together-together. The big one is Emmett and he's with Rosalie who is the elder sister of Jasper the curly honey-blonde one who has his arms wrapped around Imogen. Rosalie and Emmett are both Seniors. Imogen and Jasper are together and have been for two years. Ella is with a girl from the reservation, Leah I think her name is. The little brunette is Alice and she's with Storm. The one with sunglasses perched on her head."

"I still don't even know how your sister got with Jasper." Lauren Mallory scoffed cruelly. "It was like the minute they were here or something. Plus all the Cullens are adopted by Mrs Cullen and Dr. Cullen, so I don't even think it's legal."
"Lauren, they aren't actually related." Angela Weber sighed, as if they had this conversation regularly. "Plus, Imogen is really nice. Both of you just chose to not like her without actually getting to know her."
"Well Bella doesn't like her and she's her own sister!" Jessica stated victoriously as if she had won the argument. Instead of answering Angela just got up and headed for the library sending an apologetic smile to Imogen, Ella and the Cullens as she left.

"Who's that?" Bella asked, nodding to Edward who was sitting alone and staring at her.
"Oh for god's sake!" Storm groaned, noticing the obsessed look on Edward's face that was directed towards Bella.
"That's not going to go well." Emmett muttered with a frown, his happy-go-lucky nature nowhere to be seen but instead a seriousness had gripped him within its tight constraints.
"No it's not." Jasper and Rosalie agreed, glaring over at Edward. Jasper got up for a moment and sat backwards on his chair behind Imogen so he could pull her closer.
"Maybe, this will shock some sense into him." Storm muttered so quietly so only those at their table could hear.

They will all deny later but they watched eagerly as Storm shot a mild bolt of electricity at Edward's arse with her gift making him yelp painfully, leaping from his chair causing everyone in the cafeteria to pause what they were doing to stare at him. It was silent for only a fleeting moment before Emmett's booming laughter filled the cafeteria, the only thing was his laughter was so infectious that the entire cafeteria was laughing at him. Edward scowled and glared at them muttering under his breath with his fists clenched as he stormed out of the cafeteria heading towards biology early.

~First Beach, La Push~

The second Imogen stepped on to First Beach in her wet suit, holding the board she shared with Leah, a wide smile lifted up her lips and lit up at her eyes as she could almost FEEL the tension fall off of her. She knew Jasper, Alice, Storm, Rosalie and Emmett would be speaking to Edward about what happened with Bella in biology as he had almost lost control of himself as she was his Blood Singer, but he didn't seem to care. They were also there to make sure that Esme and Carlisle didn't give in to Edward like they always did. They were hoping to talk sense into him but personally, Imogen didn't hold out much hope for that.

But she wasn't going to worry about her so-called sister or Edward. All she was going to worry about was beating Jared at surfing, having fun with her friends and painting the sunset over the sea with Paul later on. This was all she needed. Her friends here on the Rez were her balm, much like Jasper and the others were but as she had known everyone here and Ella since they were babies they had a deeper and more profound bond. Not that she didn't treasure her boyfriend and his siblings as her friends as she did, but these here were her soul-siblings; that's all there was to it.

"Ready?" Jared asked, a teasing smile on his lips.
"Ready!" Imogen agreed, giggling as she ran for the sea to the cheers of Ella, Jake, Leah, Seth and Paul cheered for her. They – minus Seth – were on her team while Sam, Embry and Quil were on Jared's team and were cheering for the wolf. It was the perfect end to a day that had started with such woe.
