Chapter Six, Liars Oh My!
Chapter Six, Liars Oh My!
In Austin, Texas Peter and Char were sitting cuddling as they watched a romantic comedy together (it was Char's turn to pick) when Peter suddenly got flashes surging urgently across his brain, causing him to suddenly sit forward with a gasp dislodging Char from where she rested against his chest.
"Peter? What is it?" Char asked concerned.
"They're working against Major and Aiyana!" Peter growled.
"Who!?" Char demanded a growl building in her throat in anger but there was a note of confusion in her scarlet eyes.
"Edweirdo and that Alice!" Peter growled, flitting over to the shoe rack by the front door and slipping his feet into his dark brown combat boots. "They're jealous and suspicious of Aiyana, even going as far as Edward informing Aro of Aiyana!"
"But from his jealous one-sided point of view, I take it!" Char growled, slipping her small sock-covered feet into her own shoes.
"Exactly!" Peter pointed out.
"Well then, we best go and visit these Cullens then!" Char smirked maliciously.
"You read my mind, love." Peter smirked, kissing his mate passionately before they left heading towards the Cullens' latest home in Ithaca, New York, following Peter's gift (not gift).

"Can I help you?" Carlisle asked cautiously, upon opening the door to see a tall blonde haired man with red eyes, short cropped hair and dressed as the literal definition of a cowboy (minus the hat and cowboy boots), with his arm around the waist of a short black-haired woman who had her hair in a pixie style, red eyes and dressed in jeans, combat boots, a denim jacket and a green and black plaid shirt underneath.
"Yes, indeed you can, Carlisle Cullen, as it would seem that two of your members have caused unnecessary trouble for my brother and sister-in-law." Peter spoke firmly, leaving no room for argument. "I'm Peter Whitlock and this is my mate Char." He added pointedly, when Carlisle went to deny any such transgressions.
"You better come in." Carlisle sighed, he had been fearing something like this would happen ever since Alice had told them what she and Edward had done. Not knowing it was now so much worse than he'd originally thought.
After introducing the couple to the rest of the family - not that it was needed, (what with their enhanced hearing) - causing Alice to become a nervous wreck.
Which is something Gwen noticed as she scoffed and moved away from her mate, sitting besides Rosalie who was glaring at said woman.
"What has she and the idiotic, selfish prick done now!" Rosalie demanded, stressing the word 'she' as she pointed at Alice.
"After Edward was taught a lesson he went to the Volturi and informed Aro of his one sided and jealous views. Therefore, endangering my brother and sister!" Peter growled.
"And how do you know this!" Alice demanded. "You can't see the future; only I can!" She whined, stomping her foot a little.
"Correction!" Char interrupted her petty whining.
"Your gift is subjective as it's based on what people decide at that particular moment. Meaning it's not to be based on as people change their minds multiple times a day." She interjected sharply, glaring at Alice. "Whereas, Peter's gift is more advanced; as he can actually see what's going to happen AND what has happened! Even if he likes to claim it's not a gift and - to quote my idiotic husband - 'he just knows shit'." Char informed them with a fond eye roll as Emmett burst out laughing, clapping Peter on the back.
"Oh, I think this is the start of a beautiful bromance!" Emmett boomed, chortling still as Peter joined him with a wicked grin.
"Oh, it definitely is!" Peter grinned wickedly.
"Just great!" Rosalie and Char moaned simultaneously. "Just what I need; two of you."
They shared a look before a grin spread across their faces, happy they could make another friend, even with the current circumstances.
"What do you want us to do?" Esme sighed, she was incredibly disappointed in her two children.
"I didn't know he was going to the Volturi!!" Alice suddenly burst out as Peter opened his mouth, however, there was a way in which Alice had suddenly burst out in exclamation and the way she shifted around agitatedly on the sofa that pointed in the opposite direction. That she both knew what Edward had planned and had neither persuaded him this course or done anything to stop him and had neither told anyone either.
"Oh, my Liar Liar." Char sing-songed, getting sniggers from Emmett and Peter and a smirk from Rosalie, while Carlisle and Esme looked thoroughly disappointed and Gwen looked heartbroken.
"How could you Alice!" Gwen shouted, her hands glowing a luminescent blue signalling she was struggling to control her powers. "You told me you'd leave them alone! That you didn't love Jasper! You promised me!" As she shouted flames sprung from her clenched fists and would have burned the house down with them inside it if it hadn't of been for Charlotte and her quick reflexes as she used her gift of Glacier Manipulation to summon water and put out the fire before it became fully airborne; soaking Gwen in the process.
"Sorry." Char apologised sheepishly. "I have the ability to control water and ice." She informed the others at their curious glances.
"It's fine." Gwen waved off. "Well?" She demanded of Alice, her tone hard and sharp.
"I don't love him and that's the truth but I don't trust her. I've never heard of a Hybrid before. We don't know what she's like. We don't know anything about her! Yet, only Edward and I seem to be concerned with this! She's dangerous!" Alice shouted, only to scream in pain as she suddenly had an ice spear through her leg. Everyone was confused on where it came from until they saw Char had another one in her hands and put two-and-two together.
"You speak about my sister that way again and I'll separate your head from your body so fast you won't see it coming!" Char growled.
"Ana is no more dangerous than any of us!" Peter input firmly, glaring at the rest of the Cullens as if daring them to contradict him and Char. "Major is happy. Beyond happy in fact. His gift no longer controls him and he is the most relaxed I've ever seen him. He adores his new wife and she adores him -"
"Wait," Esme interrupted softly, a heart broken look upon hers, Emmett's, Rosalie's and Carlisle's face. "Jasper and Aiyana are married? When?"
"They married a week ago and are on their extended honeymoon now. Wouldn't be surprised if they come back and nine months later there'll be tiny pitter patter of new Whitlocks." Peter smirked.
"I missed my brother's wedding? And I might be an auntie and not even know." Rosalie whispered, a small genuine smile upon her face before it faded as she rounded on Alice, Esme and Carlisle.
"This is all your fault!" She screamed at them, pointing to each of them in turn.
"Babe -" Emmett tried to calm her down even though he agreed with her fully.
"No Emmett!" Rosalie snapped, but not meaning to direct it at him - which Emmett knew and brushed off. "If they didn't pander to Edward and Alice's every whim none of this would be happening right now! Ever since he came back from that decade bender he went on, you've allowed him to call all the shots and you rolled over to whatever decision he comes up with, and we - meaning Emmett, Gwen and I - are sick of it!!! Alice agrees to whatever Edward says and you think it's law just because she has visions which are SUBJECTIVE!!!" Rosalie screams.
"I'm sorry but she's right." Gwen put in softly. "I've known you for a long time, Carlisle, longer than anyone else here and you used to listen and take my thoughts and views into account but ever since Edward you do neither. The only thoughts and views you listen to beside Alice and Edward's are Esme's. I've held my tongue long enough but no more!! Sort this out or I'm out of here!!" Gwen promised, and Carlisle having known the young woman long enough knew it to be a promise rather than a threat and he knew Gwen always kept her promises.
"You're right I'm sorry. I just didn't -" Carlisle sighed wearily only to be cut off by Peter.
"Let me stop you right there!" Peter stated firmly, his Texan accent thickening with his building anger.
"There is nothing wrong with the other diet; some vamps like myself, Char, Jasper, Aiyana and her aunt Zafrina - just to name a few- have abilities too strong to be controlled on the animal diet and are prone to overwhelming us due to this. Since changing diets Jasper has thrived instead of wasting away. I bet Emmett with his double gift struggles." Peter pointed out the flaw in Carlisle's ideals.
"It's true and you know this, and yet I've tried for you Carlisle, but it's got to the point where I'm having to swipe blood bags from the blood bank just to stay in control of my Advanced Tracking and Advanced Strength. I nearly crushed Gwen when I hugged her the other day, and if it's not nearly crushing someone, it's feeling weak as a newborn kitten." Emmett revealed, no longer feeling shamefaced over it. Rosalie had lost her shit when he revealed he felt ashamed of himself.
"And your plan doesn't work anymore as Edward is back on human blood before he even joined the Volturi." Peter added.
"I'll phone Aro and see if he will speak to me." Carlisle sighed, dialling the number. He had never felt like such a failure as he did then. It was worse than when he was human and had led his father's men into that trap which caused them all to lose their lives and he to become a vampire in retaliation to his father's crimes.
"Why hello Carlisle." Aro purred. "We were just discussing with young Edward over what to do about your wayward son and that abomination he has for a mate." Aro revealed, smug in the fact he was right and was feared by all.
"Aro." Carlisle returned cordially. "What Edward revealed was biassed. It is full of jealousy, hatred and not to mention his one-sided views." He hurriedly revealed. The life of his son's mate hung in the balance and would no doubt be decided with this phone call.
"Oh really?" Aro asked intrigued but not quite believing his old friend either.
"Yes. He is jealous that Jasper found a mate before him and has been egged on by Alice who hates that Jasper left to join another coven. I have not met the young lady in question but I'm with Peter and Charlotte Whitlock, the Captain and Lieutenant to Jasper's alter ego Major. They have met her and Peter has an evolved gift of Alice's ability." Carlisle revealed, reading Peter's lips as he mouthed what to add to further grab Aro's attention and halt any plans he'd made. It was silent on the other line and Carlisle feared Aro had hung up, but in fact they were silent with shock and fear as everyone in the vampiric world knew you do not mess with Major aka Jasper Whitlock and live to tell the tale. And if his Captain and Lieutenant were involved you best set your affairs in order and say your goodbyes.
"Very well Carlisle. We shall be with you in three days. And we will judge the thoughts of all of you, including the Captain and Lieutenant. If what you say is true and I'm not lied to for a second time then I will see no need to move against Major and his mate. I am not suicidal you know, especially with their gifts combined." He muttered the last part quietly to himself but everyone still heard.
"Thank you Aro." Carlisle said relieved but he was now thoroughly concerned for Edward despite the fact he was the one to cause this mess. Well, him and Alice.
"Yes, well you better not lie to me like your son has, Carlisle for you will not like the consequences." Aro warned before he hung up.
"Are we gonna let Jasper know what's going on?" Emmett queried, knowing how mad he would get if no one told him if he was in Jasper's shoes.
"I'll do it." Peter sighed, leaving for the garden to make the call. He was certainly not going to like this conversation.
