"Hey, Y/N, what are you doing here?" Sam asks in surprise.
You stand at his and Dean's front door. "Dean told me that I can come to the house while I wait for him to get home." You answer.
Sam leans up against the door. "Did he say when he's going to be home?" He questions with interest.
"Uh, not for another half hour or so, I'd imagine. He's getting things for dinner." You answer.
"Great!" He exclaims, grinning. He pulls the door open wider. "Here, here, come in." He says, beckoning you inside. You walk inside the house and Sam closes the door behind you.
"Can I get you anything?" He asks as you sit down on the couch.
You smile at him. "No, I'm good. Thank you though." You reply.
Sam sits next to you and smiles at you. "So, how have you been doing? I feel like we barely talk anymore now that you're dating Dean. We used to be best friends." He says.
You wince. "Yeah, I know, I'm sorry about that, Sam. I still consider you one of the best friends. I didn't mean for things to change between us when Dean and I started dating." You respond.
Sam's hand covers yours. "We should hang out sometime, just you and I. Like old times." He suggests, his voice soft.
You glance down at his hand on yours and then your eyes flick back up to his. "Yeah, that would be nice." You reply unsurely.
"Just because you're dating Dean doesn't mean we can't hang out, right? Unless Dean's a little possessive of you..." Sam trails off, looking away.
"Dean is not possessive of me. He lets me do what I want." You defend your boyfriend.
Sam immediately looks back at you. "Then there shouldn't be a problem if you and I hang out." He states.
"Well, no. But don't you think it'd be a little weird if you and I hang out while we just leave Dean?" You ask.
"We did it before, why would it be any different?" He asks.
"Because Dean and I weren't dating before. It wasn't awkward for me to hang out with you and not feel guilty." You say.
Sam pegs you with a look. "But why should you feel guilty? It's not like you have feelings for me or anything." He murmurs, almost smirking.
Your eyes widen. "No! No, no, no, no, no, of course not!" You exclaim hurriedly. The smirk drops off of Sam's lips and he sighs. You see the hurt swimming in his eyes and realization dawns on you.
"Oh... OH." You say in shock. "You have feelings for me, don't you?" You ask. Sam looks away and nods slowly.
"Oh, Sam, I'm so sorry." You whisper. Sam shakes his head, squeezing his eyes shut to close out the tears.
"I-I had no idea." You murmur.
"It's not your fault." He mutters, his voice cracking. "You're in love with Dean and he's in love with you. I just have to accept that."
You grimace at the sadness on his face. You rub his shoulder. "I'm so sorry, Sam. I feel really bad." You say.
He looks at you and you frown at the tears pooling in his eyes. "Don't feel bad, Y/N, it's not your fault. You didn't know. Your heart belongs to another man and I'm happy for you. I'm really, really happy for you." He says, forcing a smile.
"Come here." You whisper, pulling him into a hug. Once his arms are around you, he lets out a sob and start to silently cry. You pat his back and close your eyes.
[THE END] I hope you liked it!
