Gone with the ashes
(written for poetry contest; theme- apologies.)
Send your apologies, young men and women,
You who take the wings away of the falcons and fairies,
Bend on your knees and seek forgiveness,
Turning into ashes, those blissful prairies.
Let your tears fill the dry valleys,
Make anew the ocean you have blackened by your sins,
Start pondering; Stop walking gallantly and gaily
May the mermaids get back their tails and fins.
No more dewdrops adorn the now withered flowers,
Pure rain now a myth told with no hope.
Ashes and bodies now remain,
What will we cherish for tomorrow?
Apologize to the dead, make everything new,
Whose souls still wander with longing,
For a new home, a new beginning,
Or else we will be only a few.
******
For we all are destroying it and we need to think about it.
