CHAPTER EIGHT

ATHENA SET HER TRAY DOWN sitting next to Archie , in front of Jughead.

"Hey Athena" The gang greet her before going back to their conversations.

"The Sisters of Quiet Mercy. " Jughead asked out of the blue after Betty whispered to him.

" What is that? Like a church? Or a charity? " He added , his eyebrows frowning that make him look adorable.

"No. It's a "Home for troubled youths. Where disenfranchised teens will learn such virtues as discipline and respect, enjoying lives of quiet reflection and servitude" Betty explained as Athena tried to understand what was going on.

" Poor Polly. It's been months. There's gotta be a reason my mom and dad don't want me to see Polly. But I don't care anymore. " Betty added.

Archie nudged Athena cocking his head to Betty asking her what they were talking about with body language.

When Athena shrugged he spoke up.

"What are you guys talking about? Anything I can help with?"

" What we're attempting is a stealth operation, Archie. If we go in there with the entire Scooby Gang, forget it, we're compromised."

Jughead replied to Archie as if saying 'don't get in it'

" Well, don't you have to practice for the Variety Show anyways?" Betty added sweetly trying to not be rude.

" Uh, no, I don't." He responsed.

" Except that yes, you do. Thanks to a certain Veronica-ex-machina." Veronica explained sitting next to Athena with a grin.

" Excuse me. What do you mean?" Archie asked confused.

"Oh, nothing. Just that I had a few words with our director/host, and reminded him that he's heard you sing on numerous occasions." V added with a smirk looking at Kevin who was sitting down next to Juggie.

" Even though it compromises my artistic integrity. Cutting to the chase, you have a slot if you want it." Kevin scowled at Veronica making Athena laugh.

" Veronica, thank you, but you saw what happened."

" We all did. " Kevin interrupted .

"Playing my songs in front of you guys is one thing, but getting back up on that stage by myself I'm not sure if I'm ready for that." Archie tried to convince her.

Athena tried to ignore the fact that Jughead was eating from Betty's food but it was impossible not to see.

" If it's a partner you're looking for, Veronica Lodge is more than willing and able."

" Veronica, I didn't know you could sing." Betty entered the conversation.

" Like a nightingale. What do you say, Archiekins? Be the Jay to my Bey?" Veronica breath out with a smile. 

Archie let's out a chuckle nodding. "Well if you put it that way , yeah sure"

Athena smiled at them getting up slowly. "Well since everyone has something to do tonight I'll just go home and have a date with Netflix."

Betty instantly got up ."Actually can we talk?"

Athena looked confused but nodded following her.

"Um Athena could you come with me and Jughead to see my sister?"

Athena nodded taking her hands. "Of course , I didn't think you want me to come since Archie didn't come"

Betty shook her head with a scoff. "I don't need Archie , but I do need you"

Athena giggled hugging her. "Just text me and I'll be there"

Betty clapped her hands giving her a big grateful smile. "Thank you Thea"

Athena smiled nodding as she looked behind Betty where Jughead was laughing with Archie making her smile.

"Thea" Athena turned to Betty. "You still like Jug don't you"

Athena sighed nodding softly. "I can't lie to you"

Betty smiled sadly as guilt flew through her eyes but quickly looked away. "I knew it"

Athena bit her lip smiling at her but changed the subject. "So should we get going?"

ATHENA HUGGED HER WAIST standing in front of the building along Betty and Jughead.

They had met up at pops before heading here together in bus.

Athena bit her lip looking at Jughead who was already looking at her. His eyes glanced down to her lips.

She slowly releases her lip staring at him shortly before he looked away rubbing his lips walking towards the building door.

Athena follows behind Betty and Jughead , Jughead holding the door for the girls.

Athena smiles at Jughead who nods at her. Once at the front office Betty asked for her sister and successfully went to see her.

Athena and Jughead were asked to stat behind in the hallway.

"Its great to see Betty and Polly back together" Jughead spoke up making Athena smile lightly.

"We can't even see them Juggie"

Jughead shrugs lightly lending against the wall. "Now we wait"

Jughead looked lost in thought so Athena walked over to a widow and saw Betty and Polly. She gasped lightly when she saw Polly with a big belly.

"She's pregnant Jug" Athena called out making Jughead walked behind her quickly.

He looked surprised but didn't say anything.

He rubbed his face sighing lending on the wall again. "This all is so messed up" He whispered lightly.

Athena placed her hand on his arm smiling sadly at him. "I know"

Jughead suddenly stood up straight tugging Athena's waist so she was behind him.

She grabbed his shoulders from behind him as security guards appeared in front of them.

"Please come with us" The man announced .

Athena shivered at the mans voice gripping Jughead's jacket.

"Why would we?" Jughead replied not standing down.

"Don't make this any harder please"

When Jughead open his mouth to say no Athena nodded "We will go"

Jughead looked at her with hard eyes but soften when he saw pleading eyes.

He groaned following the men.

JUGHEAD PACED AROUND THE room making Athena become nervous.

"Juggie calm down , you're making me nervous"

Jughead sighed "Sorry I'm just worried about Betty"

Her heart sunk but she shrugged it off .

"Me too but everything's going to be okay you'll see" Athena tried to convinced him.

Then the door opened Betty and Mrs. Copper entering. "Let's go kids." Mrs. Copper said shortly before leaving.

Athena and Jughead looked at each other following behind 

They tried talking to Betty but Mrs. Copper had her in front of her gripping her arm.

Athena gulped as Polly appeared in front of them.

"Mom?" Polly started.

"Polly-"

" Jason's dead? And you didn't tell me? And you kept me in here?" Polly screamed

" Baby, it's for your own good. " Alice replied desperately as security guards came from behind them.

"Ugh! You always say that. And it's not true! " A man grabs Polly harshly as she screams.  " No! Betty!"

Betty tries to grab Polly but a man grabs her. Athena felt someone roughly pull her to the wall making her let out a loud gasp.

Suddenly the force is off her and Jughead appears beside her hovering over her as the man who was holding Athena glared at them holding his hands out.

" I'm gonna get you out of here, I swear to God. I love you, Polly." Betty swore as Alice pulls Betty and the kids out of the building.

Jughead grabs Athena's waist pulling her with him so no man had to touch her.

They got in the car of Alice as they zoomed off.

THEY GET TO BETTY'S HOUSE as Betty runs inside crying.

Athena wanted to go after them but Mrs. Cooper speaks up. "You two , better stop giving my daughter ideas or you're regret it"

"Mrs. Cooper with all due rep-" Jughead started but she interrupted him.

"Leave , you have nothing to do here."

Athena grabs Jughead's hand pulling him with her but Mrs.Copper stops her.

"Athena" She turns to her. "I really like you but if you keep this up you will not be welcome here no more. Trust me don't get on my had side"

Athena says nothing but walk away catching up to Jughead.

"Um I need to do something but I'll see you later?" Jughead asked Athena .

Athena nodded slowly feeling sad , she wanted to be with him but she understood.

"I'll see you jug"

She walked off to the street , she kept thinking about how Polly was pregnant.

It had to be Jason's.

Her eyes filled with tears as that thought hit her like a train .

A baby had to be raised without its dad.

She shook her head and kept thinking in her thoughts.

She found herself back at Betty's house after a short walk. She was about to walk to the door when she saw a familiar dark haired boy climbing up a ladder .

She releases a gasp of disbelief.

Athena watched as Jughead enters Betty's room. Her eyes frown as she watches Jughead touch her cheeks.

She bit her lip shaking her head turning back around feeling heartbroken.

She knew what was about to happen.

Athena sighed reading the message Veronica had sent her.

Athena looked up out of her room as the skt darken. It had been a few hours since she saw Polly.

Since she saw Jughead sneaking into Betty's room.

Since she's been locked in her room .

Athena groaned getting up from her bed heading to her closet. She looked through her closest looking for something to wear to sleep.

She decided to wear a simple long shirt that  Jughead let her have.

She changed heading to her bed laying down. She grabbed her album of pictures looking at them.

She giggled at some pictures while tearing on others.

Her phone beeped making her groan  "V I swear" Athena muttered to herself .

She gasped holding her breath as she read the message Jughead had sent her.

Polly ran away - Jughead

She released her breath.
