The Wrong Wall

¤ ¤ ¤

Teddy walked next to Janna, they had dropped off the trolley and now the trunk was rolling behind Janna. Teddy had been phoned up by Harry on a small cellular telephone, Janna had seemed very curious to what the telephone had been for but she did not say anything about it.

The walk was quiet: Teddy knew nearly everything about Janna, although he was hoping now to get to know her since she might be like his father because of the lycanthropy. Harry had told Teddy the evening before—when Teddy visited for supper (since he almost always burns down the house when he cooks by himself)—that Janna was very much like Teddy's father, the love of books was one of the pointers. But Teddy hadn't seen any sign of a chocolate infatuation.

Janna seemed to be very quiet, sometimes muttering to the ferret on her shoulder—Teddy knew she had found in the woman's shop—she would use her left hand instead of her right to do anything, even if the right could do it. She'd  ruffle her scarf or pull her pink jumper sleeves down.

Teddy was very much aware that Janna hadn't met his father, but the thought of him wanting to ask her about his father lingered, he wanted to know about his parents, Harry had always told him of all these fantastic adventures and tales of them both but he desired more. Knowing that Janna's parents were dead as well didn't make Teddy feel awkward around Janna, he felt comfortable, like he had known her for a while, although the stories he was told of her were from Harry who had been checking on Janna every so often to see if she was alright during the years Janna had been living at the Winslows.

"Teddy?" Janna interjected into Teddy's thoughts, before looking up at him from her downward look to the cobbles, Teddy looked at Janna, they made eye contact, Janna's lips lifted slightly "Um... Have you always had blue hair?"

Teddy nodded "Yeah, I got it from my mom" He then ran his hand through his hair before grinning to himself "I can change its colour, you know"

Janna gaped at him before quickly closing her mouth "Like a spell?" Janna asked, Teddy shook his head while he grin dimmed to a smile.

"No" Teddy then hooked his thumbs in his jacket pockets "I'm a metamorphigi" Teddy looked forwards to see where he was walking "it's a mouthful isn't it?" He said before they walked into the archway to The Leaky Cauldron's back door.

"I guess so... I haven't really pronounced the word myself. I've only really read about them" Janna smiled softly before Teddy opened the door to let Janna through. Teddy and Janna stayed quiet as they walked through the inn, Janna had already forgotten to be afraid, she just focused on getting to the door to talk to Teddy again.

As the door of the shabby looking inn closed Teddy lead Janna up the pavement "Janna. Have you ever read about Remus Lupin?" Teddy suddenly asked, Janna looked back at him and nodded slowly.

"Well, I have seen him in history books, he was the first werewolf to get an Order of Merlin first class and he went underground for the rebellion he was in—why do you ask?" Janna asked curiously, Teddy pursed his lips before stopping at a bright red car.

"He was my dad" Teddy nodded, Janna's eyes widened, she stared at him before he opened the passenger car door for Janna.

"You—you... You knew your parents?" Janna then leaned over onto the roof to watch teddy go around the car "what were they like?"

Teddy looked at Janna from across the car before opening the boot of the car to put Janna's trunk in, he came back to open his car door but he didn't get in "well... From how I remember, they were happy, my dad was scared he'd drop me, my mum would make faces and my baby self would laugh. I don't remember much but it's a lifetime of joy for me" Teddy smiled before getting in the car, Janna did so as well.

"Wow, I wish I knew my parents, I only learnt today what happened.. today's been a blur for me. Teddy... You've been a very nice person" Janna smiled at him, he smiled back before he ran his hand through his hair.

"Thanks Janna, I'd have to say the same for you..." Teddy laughed, Janna chuckled softly before the car revved to life, Teddy quickly closed his door, Janna followed and did so as well.

Kings Cross was like an alien destination to Janna, she had never been here, she never went this way into London. Teddy quickly parked before switching the car off, he glanced at Janna who was silently watching him turn the keys to switch off the car.

"Hullo?" Teddy asked, Janna slowly looked up, she glanced up at him before she blinked at few times.

"Yes?" Janna asked, Teddy watched as she then yawned deeply while covering her mouth her her hand "sorry, I think I must have fallen asleep."

"Wotcher Janna! It's morning" Teddy teased as she opened his door, Janna looked at her shoulder to see the ferret wasn't there, she looked around her coat to  see his furry tail sticking out of her pocket.

Janna quickly opened her door as the boot slammed shut, Teddy rolled the trunk onto the pavement as Janna came around the car. "I think we should get going, Harry's already on the platform"

Teddy and Janna weaved through the crowd, each person was walking in a different direction from the next, everything seemed to be moving. They quickly stopped to get a trolley to hold the trunk and Janna's bag. Down to the platforms they went, everything seemed to make a loud noise, nothing was quiet to Janna here, the sound of the rumbling trolley was deafened by the sounds of the trains screeching past and people talking or walking with their shoes thumping or clicking on the floor.

"Where's platform nine and three quarters?" Janna asked with a frown, this made Teddy grin before quickly glancing up to the signs which allocated which platform they were on, Teddy seemed to be looking around for someone.

"Just between platform nine and ten, you just have to run into that wall to get to platform nine and three quarters" Teddy pointed at the wall a few feet before Janna, her eyebrows pressed together as she looked at Teddy.

"Teddy, you're going to make me run into a wall?" Janna asked, Teddy nodded enthusiastically "It's a wall! And do you know what happens when you run into a wall? You crash into it"

"But not this one" Teddy grinned, he saw Janna wasn't swayed from her belief "come on," Teddy then grabbed the handles by where Janna's hands were "I'll go with you"

"What! No! I'm not running into a wall!" Janna panicked as Teddy then began pushing the trolley, Janna felt like she was going to crash as the trolley, and herself, picked up speed, no-one nearby took notice to the young man and the young  girl running straight towards the wall.

Every brick on the wall had detail now, Janna held her breathe, she clenched the bars before—CRASH! There was a tumble in front of Janna, she felt her body jerk forward then get flattened by Teddy. The trolley tipped to the side slightly as its nose tipped up to the wall, where the white ferret had caught the trolley, breathing heavily.

"I swear that should have worked" Teddy muttered to himself as he got off Janna's back, she pulled the trolley back so the front wheels landed back on the ground. Teddy walked into the wall, but he just seemed to look like an idiot because he confidently walked into the wall with his nose knocking on a brick.

"Are you sure this wall isn't an imposter?" Janna micked as she leaned on the trolley, Teddy paused, he slowly grinned at Janna then he looked up at the signs above, he slapped his hand to his face before groaning.

"Alright, it's the next wall" Teddy pointed to the next wall, Janna followed Teddy around the wall, she watched as Teddy quickly slammed his arm through the next wall, he looked at Janna, gesturing to the wall, while she just stared at him in awe.

Teddy quickly ran up to Janna before taking the bars next to her "That's how it works?" Janna questioned, Teddy nodded happily before readying himself.

"Now, all we have to do is run straight into that wall, if this wall doesn't work then I'll have to go to Saint Mungo's for drowning in my tears" Teddy said to Janna, she then steadied her grip on the bar before looking at the wall determinedly "ready?"

   "Yep..." Janna confirmed.

Teddy then pushed the bar, Janna followed, they began to speed up—the people around them still didn't take notice to the two who were running towards a wall—The ferret squeaked as he stuck his head out Janna's pocket; the ferret squealed as he saw the wall was coming towards him, he quickly dove back into the depths of Janna's pockets.
