Sirius talks Remus

¤ ¤ ¤

The unforgiving month of February was premiered with a gelid morning that Janna awoke to, she had sprung up  from the bed, dazed from when she witnessed the birdlike creature again in her head... The heart beating below its makeshift body... The squelching of the poor creatures body as it shrank into itself... Janna had tried to summon it with the boys as overseers to make sure she didn't pass out while creating the bird again.

This time the bird had snow white feathers, a sharp beak and glowing yellow eyes, Juno noted the cylindrical shape of the eyes stating the bird was in fact an owl, Juno added that this owl was a snowy owl. The four of them concluded that this owl must have been Hedwig, an owl that had actually been Harry Potter's... Janna stopped bringing the bird back, bringing the bird back to such a gruesome state caused her to refuse to bring the owl back.

For the nights following after Janna was haunted by the bird's sad eyes, blank and missing a light, the blank stare haunted her as though the bird was looking into her soul pleading to be put out of the misery of being alive after having such a peaceful rest in death.

Janna trembled in the bed, shivering violently, her hands clasped over her ears with Ash attempting to push her shoulder to catch her attention but to no avail. Snuffles trotted into the picture frame by Janna's bedside, the room was still dark since the curtains were still drawn and the sun hasn't risen yet. Only a faint mass was seen under the  covers as a silhouette in the curtain's dim light.

"Janna" Sirius yapped lowly, thinking Janna must have still been asleep still having the vision of the owl "Janna!" The whimpering increased, the shivering under the duvet was intensifying... Janna was possibly getting lost in her own thoughts, her mind inverting itself to shut the light in to protect the brightness from the shadows "Janna! Wake up!"

There was a squeak, soon the white ferret appeared pointing a claw to the shivering mass before putting his paws over his ears "She's put her hands over her ears?" Snuffles asked the ferret, it nodded "JANNA! Get out of that place!" Snuffles barked, knowing that Janna would have to hear him "get that thought out of your head, I'll help you"

"The poor bird... I made her go through all that pain..." A hoarse mumble came from under the duvet, a couple of sniffs and coughs showed that Janna was crying "just leave me alone, Sirius"

"No" Snuffles said soon morphing into a human "Janna, come on, get out from under there, I can help you with this"

The cries echoed in the cold room, Ash looked at Janna's mass again as it shrank.

"I'm not leaving, I also know people struggle to ignore me so I will have to pester you until you come out" Sirius smirked, leaning on the frame.

Janna sighed "Fine" the mass lifted and soon Janna's head appeared, her corkscrew hair strewn to one side as she wrapped the duvet around herself, her face was red with tears and swollen with blood, her scars far more prominent on her shoulders as blood rushed to her skin. While lifting up the frame Sirius saw Janna had scratched at the scar on her face, her left hand that held the duvet around her had blood on the fingers "you shouldn't harm yourself, you have done no wrong, you're working yourself up"

"It was mangled, Sirius" Janna's eyes swelled with red "I can still see it—"

"Stop it" Sirius said firmly, he soon changed his voice "I can't see you like this... You're good, Janna, this is proof, you're falling apart over hurting a creature. I'm here to tell you you can't blame yourself for this botched resurrection.. You didn't understand the limits of your power, this is you're learning opportunity, to not make the same mistake again"

"You sound like a teacher, you know" Janna mumbled as she wiped the dampness from her eyes.

"I have my moments" Sirius smirked, leaning back on the wooden wall behind him to look at Janna "probably got this from Remus..." He ran his hand through his hair "You know, Remus is growing rather  fond of you, Janna, the old furry little problem coming back to him and all"

"Does it scare him? Even if he doesn't transform?" Janna asked, cradling the frame of the small portrait.

Sirius looked past Janna, sliding his hands into his robe pockets "The transformations Moony had endured, the...the pain—I think you understand what I'm talking about"

"Yeah" Janna said lowly, remembering when she was younger how awful the transformations would be without the aid of Wolfsbane or any potions to keep the pain at bay.

"Remus was terrified of himself for years even after when James and I found out, though the Moony we knew was still Moony, just with some monthly zest" Sirius shrugged, breathing in deeply "he would also open up his wounds at some points, paranoid more people found out, only four of us did." Sirius smirked softly, his face brightening "when Lily was told by Remus himself in fourth year she took it to hell or high water to take care of him after every full... Mothering all four of us, James was usually left to lick his own wounds after trying to woo Lily." On the round ebony table at his side Sirius summoned a bottle of honey coloured liquor with a swish of his hand, soon uncapping the bottle "After leaving school, Remus became... more reclusive, at times we'd not see him for months on end—stupid of me thinking he was untrustworthy at this time"

Sirius swung his head back taking a long swig of the liquor, he sighed as he took the ellipses  of the bottle from his mouth looking at it with a strange expression "I did do some damage to him with that decision, when I saw him after twelves years I saw one of my family who I caused to suffer because I didn't... I didn't trust him—" Sirius shook his head, lowering his gaze to the floor in his portrait "—Remus was a man who had lost everything, all of which I took..." Sirius stared up at Janna "Still, Moony trusted me, like a brother would, Remus trusts very specific people, he observes everyone before even learning their names, a wolfish thing he has that you have too, you both watch people's body language, carefully." Sirius moved to the frame now, leaving the bottle on the table.

"Remus knows what you are going through, though, Greyback wasn't as vicious but was still prevalent enough to actually stay in the dorm once" he leaned on the frame looking at Janna with a brighter face "—don't try that, awful idea—" Sirius soon looked over his shoulder then back at Janna, breathing deeply he continued  "anyways, Remus is always ready to talk to you, so ready he might be standing next to me"

"Thanks, Sirius" Janna smiled, seeing her uncle smile back at her "I need to get to class, even though I do want to talk more"

"What do you have after breakfast?" Sirius asked, standing up straight from the frame.

"First Transfiguration, afterwards I have Defence Against the Dark Arts, then Potions... You know, Slughorn sent an invitation for the Slug Club dinner at the end of spring"

Sirius laughed, a slight barking present  "Lily and Remus would go to those dinners, the agony James and I dodged." Sirius recovered from his state of amusement "Now, you better get going, I'll be at Harry's office, I want to ask him something"

"See you later then Sirius" Janna said, placing the small portrait on the bedside table, soon moving to get changed.

As soon as Janna was walking Sirius turned to move out of the frame next to him was Remus, his lanky frame leaning against the wooden wall "see, this needs to happen sooner, we need to question Harry on where the Cite is, soon"

As Remus responded he  didn't look at Sirius, he just stared at his wrist that stuck out above his hands as they rested in his pockets "Dumbledore—"

"No, I am not procrastinating! You know Janna is in need of us, why are you stalling?" Sirius stood in front of Remus, far shorter than the tired man.

   "Teddy... You know—"

"Moony, I know you like to do this to yourself, but you have to stop hiding, Teddy won't hate you for not being there," Sirius shook Remus' shoulders. "Tonks is there to back you up if things do get hairy" Remus quickly looked up at Sirius.

"That's not the only worry I have! What if I can't help Janna, I'm not a werewolf now, if I come back will I be one again? Really, I don't want to go through that again—"

With an explosion of rage Sirius raised his voice "Moony—!"

"Let me finish, Sirius!" Remus stood up from the wall "I feel that I need to be there for Janna, I know she needs me to show her how to deal with all of the stigmas and baggage as a nanny wolf of some sort but I'm not sure I can—Padfoot, you can't be finding something funny in this"

"Nanny wolf," Sirius grinned "all I see is Moony wearing a frilly pink bonnet ushering Janna about... She must be tiny compared to how big you were, she still has those little hairs are still on her tail, you still had those until you were fifteen" Sirius laughed merrily, possibly from the liquor.

"You think you are funny, Padfoot?"—Sirius snorted "I'm not funny, Moony, I'm hilarious" Remus couldn't help up but smirk—"You know, Padfoot, you had the uncanny  resemblance of a puppy until you were seventeen" Remus said as he and Sirius began to walk down the shadowy unknown between portraits.

"Prongs must have had a laugh, seeing two pygmypuffys chasing each other" Sirius ran his hand through his hair, smirking at the thought while Remus laughed with his companion.
