Silly Hooligans

"A glass cap!" Janna yelled at the frame, the wall didn't budge. She slammed her fists onto it and only dust was spat from the corners of the door, possibly locking it for good.

"I don't think we should go there again" Jake murmured, dusting Janna's robes off, she sighed, crestfallen and upset when she turned to him.

"Yeah, you're right..." Janna then shook her hair out, "I think it might be time for supper"

As the four of them walked away from the long dark stone corridor, around a corner Orion noted Janna's disappointment, she has been watching her feet as they moved under her  "Are you alright?"

"Hopefully. I just wish..." Janna held in the truth about seeing Snuffles in the corridor  "I-I wish that I could maybe see if Snuffles was real..." The three boys looked at Janna as they passed through a winding staircase going upwards "I'm certain he was because when I last saw him he disappeared and dust bits fell off the wall"

"I'm sure you'll find Snuffles again, then you can prove, that wingnut Yann wrong" Jake shook Janna's shoulders. The four of them trotted to supper, they passed many paintings, many whom Janna had asked if they had seen the black shaggy dog. One painting they passed near the Great Hall had the shaggy black dog watching them. Snuffles had stayed invisible from Janna's eyes, Snuffles questioned his own confidence in the strange girl. Was it right to leave her? What if she was in real danger...

Snuffles shook his snout, feeling lonely, he watched the Great Hall, remembering when he ran through those paths between the tables with his best friends... The black dog then lifted his tired frame and hobbled away with his straggly tail slightly erected towards a small cave not too far away, to keep a continuous eye on Janna, just in case.

The next week was rough for Janna, throughout the days she felt a bit weaker, everything smelled strongly, she was far more aware and skittish in groups of people and she began to eat more raw meats. The end of the month was arriving with the full moon on the first day of the new month, Janna dreaded drinking Wolfsbane, it was like drinking slimy algae and some sort of oily grease scrapings from a weed cutter, when Janna had arrived in the Hospital Wing she was handed a goblet of more black potion, which had swirling greyish smoke that she twirled her fingers through.

Gulping it down was a strange experience, Janna knew she had to drink it straight down in one go but sometimes she just wanted to cough it right back up. Poor Madam Pomfrey had to hold Janna's head back to get the last spoonfuls down. For the day after her arrival at the Hospital Wing Janna slept, snoring loudly, usually Pomfrey had to put a charm on Janna so she wouldn't snore so loudly, which sometimes wore off after two minutes.

The boys visited Janna, bringing Ash to stay with her, doing their homework with her and explaining the new spells they had to learn, but they were banned for a while when Orion's Wingardium Levioser charm backfired, causing a cabinet to blast through a tall window. Albus then brought Janna's homework, sitting with her and getting to know her far better than he always did.

The first of the month came, so Janna had to leave the comfort of the hospital wing, McGonagall took Janna to her classroom—since there were no classes that day for the Headmistress—Janna quite enjoyed looking at the strange birds and animals McGonagall had in her classroom. Ash came across a bird with a large curving beak which it used to click and snap at him, it was a shimmery green, its throat was a rosy pink colour.

"Come sit down, Miss Black" McGonagall said sternly, but not angrily, Janna pulled Ash and herself away from the horn-billed bird which chattered his beak at Ash who raised his tail and lower back while lowering his upper body while hissing at the bird like an angry cat.

Janna sat on a stool by McGonagall's arm, she stared at the draws, wondering what hid within them. McGonagall prepared notes, Janna snuck a few glances at the parchments "What am I doing here, ma'am?"

"Since you are missing a few classes every month—" McGonagall explained as she leafed through the pages "—we can use some of your sick leave to take advantage of this free time and advance your skills. I expect you have inherited your mother and father's skill set" McGonagall turned her face to a framed letter Janna was looking at "Your uncle, Professor Potter's father, Remus Lupin and...er... Another student wrote that to me in their seventh year when they passed, silly hooligans. I do wish I would not outlive my students"

"But aren't the wars over? I'm sure nobody will ever outlive you... Maybe not if the boys if they carry on fooling around in the dorms" Janna explained, McGonagall turned to Janna who was reading the parchment at her arm.

"The boys?" Asked McGonagall, looking at Janna curiously through her spectacles.

"My friends, Jake, Juno and Orion" Janna nodded, McGonagall stared at Janna who looked at the letter, seeing her own messy writing on it.

"Mister Siglavy's parents have been assigned the jobs at The Ministry of Magic to appoint new laws regarding werewolves" McGonagall said calmly, Janna's jaw tightened and she turned pale, nearly as blue as Orion.

"I don't think of it... Jake isn't like his parents... He's actually gentle," Janna smiled softly, even though her mouth ached a small bit "Orion is very brotherly, Juno is really smart, he's quicker than Rose at times"

McGonagall purred letting out a small chuckle "now Miss Black, if we do not complete this practice we might be here for naught."

"Yes ma'am" Janna said, while Ash leaned over her shoulder, staring at the wand gestures, McGonagall passed through the pages quite quickly, Janna thought this teacher must have had a super power if she could read this fast.

McGonagall stopped at a page where a wizard was frozen in place while a different wizard did a wand gesture at the spells name "Here we go," Janna read the spells' name Immobulus "I'm not sure how quickly you'll be able to learn this but I will need you to practise the spell frequently"

"I can try... But what must I use this for?" Janna asked, McGonagall took out her wand, her eyes wondered on Janna's hands fir a moment.

"To stop objects or your opponent from moving," McGonagall paused and turned to the door, she swung her wand in an arch, with that hand swipe the doors closed "I will have to go with you tonight... I sense Professor Potter didn't explain the whole plan for your full moons"

"I did catch myself wondering where I was going for tonight" Janna shrugged, McGonagall straightened up and faced Janna again.

"Now, this spell I am going to teach you is one you will only use in self defence, understand?" McGonagall asked, Janna nodded awkwardly holding her wand up straight like it was a fork.
