Come now Potter, Black needs rest

¤ ¤ ¤

Pacing Potter riled up all his energy into this one charm, he needed to save Janna in anyway he could and this was a way, desperately he gathered his happy memories to save this young girl in front of him "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" The Profesosr cried, a blast of the brilliant blue, misty light that Janna had seen on the Knight Bus erupted into a proud stag which  leapt from Potter's wand then landing on the floor.

Strangely Janna felt relief as the glowing stag approached her, it's ears front facing  when it's nose sniffed her, possibly not knowing where the darkness was in her. Janna lifted her hand to the stag but her fingers fell through the mist causing a swirling in the smokey blue, on her fingers she felt warm again... this was like a flame that kept her warm.

Pomfrey watched as the flakes in the beaker fell away into a swirling smoke that had waves like a disturbed ocean, the flakes and black streak on Janna's skin soon evaporated in the presence of the stag who she drew closer to. Soon the stag dissipated, Potter fell forward and leaned on the frame at the foot of Janna's bed, she looked at him, she now had a colour in her cheeks and her eyes were  lively  again.

"Tut-tut, using so much energy  for such a strange Dark Magic you should be out for the count, Professor Potter" Pomfrey sat Potter on the bed that Janna was facing, she stared at her arm to see her wand on the mattress next to her, her skin was clear of black crystals but was still marked with pink scars.

"Janna" Potter said hoarsely as Pomfrey went to fetch a potion "just put a lid on the beaker, I'll need to see what that was" Potter pointed to the beaker that still had the heavy black smoke churning at the floor of the glass. Janna sat up using her left arm which felt the whole thing had nothing wrong with it, she reached for a pink rubber cap and slid it over the lip of the beaker.

"D-Do you know what that was?" Janna shivered, pulling the covers closer to her shoulders as she sat up looking at the Professor.

"Yes, I do... That is the black magic from Dementors you absorbed...I'm not sure how much you have but it seems you have no ways of using it properly" Professor Potter explained as Pomfery pushed a potion into his hands before the nurse rushed to Janna.

"Come now, lie down, I don't want any broken bones when you fall" Pomfery fretted as she clapped the pillows under Janna's  head to plumpen them, Janna was forced to sink into the bed. She explained the event at the Black lake to Potter so he could better understand the way her dark magic acted, Potter nodded and Janna could see the cogs in his eyes working as he attempted to figure out what Janna was explaining.

Potter watched Janna as she finished, her hands were shaking with jitter and fear of herself "Janna... May I just cast a spell—it won't hurt you—but this magic will show Dark magic presence, the intentional use is exposed with this spell only" Potter reassured her.

Janna nodded her head, sitting up to hug her knees as Potter stood from his recovery of the prior spell he had cast, lifting his wand he swayed from foot to foot seeing Janna's fear as she shrank in his shadow "Carmen Horribiblis" Potter waved his wand slenderly, nothing appeared no black crystals nor dark shadowy clouds of dark magic.

"Didn't you say it correctly?" Janna questioned as she rested her chin on her knees, a furrow formed between her eyebrows.

Potter turned to her with a mocking smile on his face "I did say it correctly, the lack of cloudy black patches in the air just means you have done no dark magic intentionally, this reaction was most likely caused by your wand, specifically the Thunderbird bone..." Potter stroked his chin where he had five o' clock shadow sprouting, his glasses reflected the pearly light of the midday.

"How am I going to control this? What... What if this dark magic stops the Wolfsbane from working..?" Janna buried her head in her knees "I can't go through that again" she mumbled into her knees where a stocking leg had been torn on her knees, possibly from her near fall onto the pebbles.

"That won't happen Janna" Potter put a hand on her shoulder, the skin shivered under his hand's weight, her curls bounced as she took in a deep breathe. Potter hugged Janna, lifting her under her shoulders so she would not be alone, she clenched his purple robes in desperation of receiving sympathy. Potter hugged Janna knowing she was so similar to Lupin and Sirius...in some way or another he would help her the way they help him, Harry Potter will not give up on this young girl.

"Sir...You were an Auror, am I right?" Janna asked sitting up again when Pomfrey came back with the sleeping draught, Potter leaned back on the bed next to hers for some more rest, his arms resting in his pockets, he nodded to her question "You understand dark magic, then?"

   "Yes," Potter then frowned "Why?"

Janna pursed her lip before recoiling back into her pillow "Can you teach me how to control this? Juno said you're one of the best in the Dark Arts, you must know something if you are an Auror!"

"I'll need to do some research on this, I don't think you're not in control of it, I think you may have potential to use this magic for good" Potter nodded, Janna pursed her lips again.

"I don't know what I would use it for... maybe creating a cure for lycanthropy" Janna shrugged putting her hand on her right shoulder where the scar that moved across her body ended, feeling the small grooves and dented skin, she shook her head laughing at herself "it's so stupid... Mr. Winslow's sister would tell me one day I would do so, I don't think I should"

   "Why not?"

"Because... I read in the history book that wizards and witches would use a cure to get desperate werewolves to join their armies," Janna played with her fingers by crossing them and weaving them tightly "I don't want that to happen... I don't think people should be forced to do something they don't want to"

"I'll help if you attempt this one day, Slughorn told me you're quite skilled in his class"

"Orion is better, he does most of the mixing and making, I just cut everything and measure" Janna shrugged her shoulders as Pomfrey returned, the young girl leaned back into the pillows.

"Come now Potter, Black needs to rest" Pomfery sighed "oh I wish I wouldn't need to say that again, I remember your uncle coming in with broken bones from Quidditch matches after picking fights with other beaters..." Pomfrey gestured to Potter who watched the nurse "Professor Potter was no different, breaking bones left, right and centre, creatures nearly clipping his limbs off"

Janna remembered some gossip she had heard from the third years "Sir. Is it true you flew around the castle being chased by a Hungarian Horntail when the dragon got loose in those Triwizard Tournaments?"

Potter laughed lowly before shaking his head "no, I didn't—"

"Pip-pip" Pomfrey interrupted, the nurse handed Janna the Sleeping Draught "come now Professor let Miss Black rest" Janna was already drinking the potion, she knew how these worked and Pomfrey seemed quite impressed by her experience of drinking a potion correctly.

"See you later, sir!" Janna called before yawning widely, then  sinking into the soft white pillows.

"Sleep well Janna" Potter answered as Pomfrey ushered him out.
