*NOTE: I know Daniel doesn't discuss his dad at all in vlogs and I know I said I wouldn't write about it, but I felt like this would happen in the future whenever Joey and Daniel have kids. I hope you guys enjoy! Love • Bree 🖤

Daniel is helping Maria clean out her bedroom because she wants to live a minimalist life style and wants to be organized.

"Where do you want me to put this box at, Mama?" Daniel asks Maria as he holds a box full of family pictures.

"Just put it over there for now, Daniel. It has all of our family pictures in it and I don't want to get rid of them. We need to take updated pictures with the four of us." Maria says.

"Definitely! Next time Toby and Jakob come to town I'll have Hope take pictures of all of us!" Daniel says, placing the box on the floor.

Joey has Aspen, Luna, River, Haven and Everett outside playing with the dogs. Max is inside because he had to use the bathroom.

After he uses the bathroom, he walks into Maria's bedroom wondering what his Nonna and Papa are doing. He sees Maria and Daniel cleaning off a book shelf and reorganizing it.

"I can find some cute nicknacks from Marshalls or TJ Maxx for you! That's where Joey and I got all the decorations for the living room and our office." Daniel says as he cleans off the bookshelf for his mom.

"That sounds perfect. Maybe we can go tomorrow? Maybe take the kids out to do something fun too." Maria says and Daniel nods.

"Definitely. Joey and I wanna go and run a few errands today. We need to start getting Christmas things." Daniel says in a whisper just incase little kids hear him.

"I told you and Joey that I can watch the kids so you guys can go out, run errands and even do a date night. You know I am always here to help."  Maria says as he kisses Daniel's cheek.

"I know, Mama! Joey and I just don't wanna use you to baby sit all the time." Daniel says as he hugs Maria.

"I don't mind! I love spending time with my grandbabies!" Maria says with a big grin.

Max walks over to the box that Daniel just put down and begins to look at the pictures. The one picture is of Daniel, Toby, Jakob with their father outside.

The next picture is a family portrait. Maria is holding a toddler Daniel, Jakob is standing behind his father and Toby is standing on the other side of Maria.

Max recognizes his Nonna, Papa, and his uncles but, he doesn't understand who this mysterious man in the photos is. He's never met him before and he isn't even talked about.

Max then realizes that he's never seen a father figure for his Papa. He knows Poppy is Daddy's dad and he knows Grampa is Daddy's stepdad. But how come Papa doesn't have a Daddy or a stepdad?

"Papa! Who's this man?" Max asks as he holds the family portrait up. 

"Whatcha doing in here, Max? Nonna and I are cleaning." Daniel says as he plays with Max's hair. 

"I used the potty but then I saw this box of pictures!" Max says as he smiles at Daniel and Maria.

Daniel looks at Maria and then sighs, realizing Max is figuring the secret out. The elephant in the room which is - his dad.

"I am going to go outside and see what the dogs, kids and Joey are doing. I'll be right back." Maria says as she leaves the room.

Maria doesn't like talking about her ex-husband. It brings out a lot of emotions and a lot of pain. She doesn't want her five year old grandson to learn about that just yet.

"Who's this guy in the pictures, Papa?" Max asks Daniel again.

Daniel stays silent, trying to figure out what to say. Max is so young, so open minded and doesn't know how evil people can be.

"That's my dad, bud." Daniel says as he sits on Maria's bed.

Max walks over to Daniel and sits on the bed hugging Daniel.

"Your Daddy? Where is he? Is he in heaven? Like an angel?" Max asks Daniel innocently.

Daniel doesn't remember having the heaven talk with any of the kids before but Daniel just assumes Max learned it at school.

"He isn't in heaven, bud. He is living in Massachusetts. Remember Daddy and I used to live there when we were younger?" Daniel says and Max nods.

"Yeah that's where Daddy's family lives too! Is Nonna married to him like Poppy and Gamma are and like Mom Mom and Grampa are?" Max asks Daniel.

"No, they aren't married anymore. They got a divorce. Remember when Daddy told all of you that his mom and dad broke up but got remarried? That's why you have four grandparents on Daddy's side." Daniel explains to Max.

"Yeah, Mom Mom and Poppy broke up but are happy with Grampa and and Gamma! And Mom Mom had Uncle Jett with Grampa!" Max says and Daniel nods.

"That's right, bud." Daniel says with a grin.

"Papa? How come he doesn't come over? How come we don't see him? Is he sick or is he busy?" Max asks Daniel.

Daniel is starting to get a little anxious now. This is getting into territory that Daniel feels uncomfortable with. However, Daniel doesn't wanna lie to his son. He knew this was going to come out eventually and has surprised that none of the other kids have asked.

"My dad doesn't talk to me, Uncle Toby or Uncle Jakob. Not even Nonna. Nonna and my dad had a bad marriage. It wasn't happy like how Daddy and I are." Daniel says and Max looks at him in confusion.

"What do you mean? Why doesn't he talk to you?" Max asks Daniel.

"My dad was very mean to me. He put me down alot and bullied me. He never approved of anything I did. He was very strict with me, Uncle Toby and Uncle Jakob. He hurt Nonna a lot. He didn't care about Nonna's feelings and he hit her. He hurt me, Uncle Jakob and Uncle Toby. He didn't accept me for who I was. He doesn't want to see me, Nonna, Uncle Toby, or Uncle Jakob because we don't like how he lives. I haven't seen my dad since I was a teenager." Daniel says as Max tries to put it together.

"He sounds really mean and a bully! I'm sorry, Papa." Max says as he hugs Daniel tightly.

"It's okay, bud. I don't want any of your siblings or you to go through what I went through. I wanna be there for all of you, no matter what you guys decide to do or who you date. Okay? Daddy and I will always support all of you." Daniel says and Max nods.

"I love you, Papa! I love you so much!" Max says with a big smile.

"I love you too, bud. Always. Let's go see what Nonna, Daddy, your siblings and dogs are doing." Daniel says putting the pictures back in the box.

"Let's find Nonna a boyfriend!" Max says as Daniel laughs loudly.

"I don't think she wants one right now, but we can ask her!" Daniel says as he hugs Max.

Daniel and Max go outside and play with the other kids, the dogs, Joey and Maria! :)
