Wyatt Gilborn wasn't her real name. It was the name she went by the most, but only her parents and her best friends and the principal of her newest school ever called her that; for everyone else, it was whatever she said or wrote on their roster sheet on the first day of school. Like her name, she was a mystery, showing up unexpectedly on the third day of her sophomore year, being addressed by a variety of names, never allowing anyone to know what it truly was. With the freedom of summer ahead of her, she was planning on throwing caution to the wind, indulging in nothing but playing music and late night car rides, forgetting her past and present in favor of living in the moment.

But, of course, when life gives her lemons, she had to make lemonade, and her lemon just happened to be one Liz Allan, a social media intern working at the same office where Wyatt helped her secretary mother with her filing. Liz was everything Wyatt wasn't, too careful, too precise, too worried about the future, and Wyatt adored her for it. She adored the way Liz scrunched up her nose when she was confused and the way she always knew everyone's coffee orders and the way she didn't mind Wyatt telling everyone different names whenever they asked.

She adored her so much that she let her in on a secret: there was a reason they moved to New York, but the reason wasn't with them anymore. He wasn't with anyone anymore. Consumed by the need for answers, the two found themselves propelled through the hot summer nights, cruising down deserted roads and underneath flickering lights as they searched for a truth that Wyatt wasn't sure she wanted to learn.

But as the lies and the secrets become too much, Wyatt drowning under the weight of her search and her own truths and Liz peering into the darkness of her own family the two girls soon discovered that, while the truth could set them free, some truths are better left unsaid.

AUTHOR'S NOTE

Ya'll this is gonna be the wildest teen movie/slight murder mystery fic I'll ever write (the only one I'll ever write). If ya'll have read Moon Boy, you know Wyatt and ya'll seem to really enjoy her personality and one liners, which means a lot to me and it's actually really easy to write her dialogue, so let's hope that it's the same when we actually write from her perspective!

Just for clarification, this story is deeply interconnected with Matty and Sabine's stories, Moon Boy and Love Bug which are Flash Thompson and Michelle Jones fics. You don't have to read them if you don't want to, as you won't miss out on anything story wise, but if you want to see more of Wyatt, check those out, and vise versa with the other two. Also, Brooke Allan is the main character in my Ned fic and she's actually Liz's sister, but she won't make too much of an appearance since we mainly follow Wyatt.

【 This takes place in my Hero of Heroes series and while you don't need to have read the other fics in the series to understand what is going on, you can if you so wish as characters from this fic may appear in others and vice versa 】
