The carriages screech to a stop as they reach the school. The older years are herded into the great hall and the first years stay in the hallway for the briefing. The great hall is filled with laughter as James sets off a Weasleys' Wildfire Whiz-bang. 

The firework-like objects whiz around the hall until they are suddenly put out by Professor McGonagall.
"Well Mr. Potter, you have just earned your first detention, congratulations, be at my office tomorrow after class. You can help me dust the entire lot of books in the Transfiguration and Ancient Ruins Classrooms," she scolds.

 She walks away from the scene and James's friends start snickering at him. Moments later the hall is filled with unfamiliar faces as the first years walk their way to the front. McGonagall explains the sorting process and she begins to read out names. 

"Danika Adams!" A short girl with red hair walks up and sits on the stool. "Hufflepuff!" the sorting hat yells as she descends from the stage over to Hufflepuff table. The sorting hat sorts the rest of the new first years and the welcome feast begins. The tables are filled with all sorts of meals from soups to roast chicken. The students dig in and chat loudly as they welcome their new classmates. Suddenly the food vanishes and Professor McGonagall stands and wait for the chatter to hush. 

"Good evening students, I hope you found your way here alright and the start of your meals have been exceptional. For those of you who do not know me i am Professor Minerva McGonagall, Head Mistress and Transfiguration teacher and head of Gryffindor house. I would like to now address some serious matters for this term. The forbidden Forest is off limits as always. The new Head Students are as follows: Kaled Monacco in 7th year and Freyja Badeaux in 4th year. Quidditch try-outs are in 2 weeks and clubs start on Saturday. That is all for now, hope you have a fantastic start to your classes, dismissed!" 

The students are tired and follow the prefects back to their dorms.
"Ludo sit amet," calls the Gryffindor prefect. The fat lady opens the entrance and the Gryffindor students race in, the first years looking around in amazement.
"Good old common room," James says, flopping down on the couch in front of the fire.
 His friends laugh as they shove him off the lounge.

 "Hey," he laughs back as he launches himself back onto the bouncy chair.
"We should probably get to bed, classes start tomorrow," Wyatt Longbottom says yawning.
"Awww you're no fun Wyatt, come on guys, lets start off this year with a prank!" James replies with a mischievous glint in his eye. The room erupts in cheering from the boys as they walk out of the common room. They sneak over to Hufflepuff Basement where James (under his invisibility cloak) sneaks in undetected. 

"Psst, Psssst, Marcus!" he whispers from behind the bed post in the Hufflepuff boys dorms at Marcus Axewelp's bed.
 "What holy shit, James? You scared me, what are you doing?" Marcus whispers back startled, putting his Charms book down. 

"Come on where going to pull a prank, get up," James replies pulling Marcus to his feet, " You can go get Arthur and Fred now, Ill give you the Invisibility Cloak."
"Awww why me? They're in the dungeons! I don't want to go down there!" Marcus whispers.

"You have to because i cant, Lani would give me away."
"Cause she'd hear your thoughts?"
James nods and Marcus sighs, "OK, OK, Ill go."
A group of girls walk in, James pulls the cloak back over himself.
"Umm Marcus who are you talking to," a pretty girl asks.
"Um..oh hi Arianna....uh you see...I'm just- just talking to myself.....I do that sometimes-" he stumbles and looks down at his feet. 

The girls all laugh except her.
"Uhh ok......bye i guess," she replies confused and follows the rest of the girls into the next room.

 "Damn it, why do i always freeze up around her?" Marcus sighs, turning to James, "not even a word came out just...nothing."
"Dude, Arianna? Seriously? I thought you were over her!" James replies shocked.
"I thought I was...I guess not," he stands up, "come on lets go."

James and Marcus sneak out of the common room and meet up with the others. Marcus sneaks into the Slytherin common room and 15 minutes later the boy and two others join the group. The boys all high-five and start chattering.
"Shh! Guys do you want to be caught by Filch," James whispers loudly so the group of boys can hear. The boys huddle together and start to plan. 

"Alright!" James speaks after a few minutes, "I think we have a good plan put together. Marcus and Freddie you guys go and get the slug slime and dragon scales, Arthur you're in charge of making the concoctions, go to the potions classroom, I'll go to the great hall to get everything set up. This will be the best prank yet!"

The other boys cheer and they all separate.
