The next morning, Cassie was excited about going to Hogsmeade with Sirius, but still upset about Severus. But she wanted to make sure she and Severus were still friends so she had Sirius wait for her and went to the library to find him.

Sure enough, he was studying instead of going to Hogsmeade.

"Hey Severus," she said, sitting next to him.

"Cassie!" he exclaimed. "Aren't  you going to Hogsmeade?"

"Yeah, I'm  going with Sirius but before we went, I-I wanted to make sure that we're  still friends."

"Of course we are, as long as you're okay with it. After all, you're  the one who was hurt."

"Okay." She stood to leave but he too stood and stopped her for a moment.

"Cassie, I  really am sorry. You're amazing, but I'm  just... not sure how I feel about anything. I don't  want to lie to you or hurt you later." he explained and she set a hand on his cheek.

"I know Severus," she said softly. And after a moment, "Severus... one more thing..."

"Yes Cassie?"

She hesitated again, and then she did something she didn't  think she could ever find the courage to do again. She kissed Severus, then went to find Sirius, leaving the Slytherin boy rather confused.

"Sooo. How'd it go?" Sirius teased.

"We're  still friends." Cassie told him before attempting to  shove him playfully.

They spent the day roaming Hogsmeade, stopping in Honeydukes and the Three Broomsticks, both places of which Sirius insisted paying.

"Sometimes you're  weird." she told him.

"Only sometimes?" he grinned, taking her hand in his. She wasn't sure how to react so she just tried to let herself enjoy it.

Sooner than either one would've liked, they had to head back to the school.

"Sirius?" Cassie said softly.

"Yes?"

"Is it weird to like two people at once?"

"Not really, why?"

"Just wondering."

With that she left for the Ravenclaw table for dinner.

When Sirius sat down with Lily, James, Remus, and Peter, James asked how Cassie was doing.

"She's taking it fairly well. She hasn't cried today, which is good. She did talk to him but I'm not sure of the specifics. She said she was checking to see if they were still friends." Sirius explained to his friend.

Skipping ahead

It was Christmas break and almost everyone in Ravenclaw went home to see their families. Severus had left as well, so Cassie hung around Sirius and James as much as possible.

On Christmas morning, Cassie was allowed special permission into the Gryffindor common room to open her presents with her friends.

As Lily opened hers first, Sirius tried to sneak his arm around Cassie who was sitting next to him yawning. The look James gave him made him stop, but he set a hand on Cassie's as soon as James was distracted.

Cassie opened her presents last. The one from James was a blue and bronze jacket with her name on the back, and Lily's  was a necklace and bracelet,  both sheet music themed. From Sirius, she got a box of chocolates and earrings matching Lily's gift.

Sirius was watching Cassie carefully as she ate one of the chocolates and she didn't notice, but Lily did. Though concerned that they were spiked with something, she kept silent. Sirius probably had good intentions.

When they got to lunch, Cassie went and sat by a few Ravenclaws, chatting happily about her gifts, all of which, except the chocolate obviously, she was wearing.

"I can't  believe it!" Sirius exclaimed to Lily  and James.

"What?" questioned James.

"She's  immune!"

"To what?"

"Love potion!"

"YOU SLIPPED MY SISTER A LOVE POTION?"

"It was in the chocolate and I just wanted to see her be happy today and not think about Severus. But she's  immune."

"She's  not immune you idiot." Lily said."

"Then why isn't  it working?"

"A love potion is inactive if the feelings are already there smart one. Or at least for the potion you used."

Sirius was dumbfounded.

"Go tell her what you did." James demanded of his best friend.

Sheepishly, Sirius told Cassie he needed to talk to her.

"Yes?" she questioned.

"I um... I  spiked the chocolate with-"

"Love potion, I  know."

"Wait what?"

"Last time we were in Hogsmeade, you bought love potion. What else would you have done with it?"

"Oh oops. I'm sorry."

"I will only forgive you on the  condition that you are my date to Slughorn's  party  tonight." she smiled.

"Of course," he grinned, glad the conversation  went better than he predicted.

"Good," she replied, standing  on her tiptoes to kiss him on the cheek before going back to the other Ravenclaws.

When Sirius sat back down with James and Lily, they looked at him expectantly.

"She already knew. She's  too smart for my own good."
