Chapter 4
In Ironwood's office, a hologram of an older gentleman talks to Ironwood, "It would be in our best interest if we build this relationship with your engagement to one of my daughters; you will have more-"
Ironwood glares at the man, "As you know, there is no reason for me to be engaged." The man frowns, "But there's no reason not to be; I'm getting old, James. I would like to see my successor settle down. I taught you everything you know, so it would be fair if you did me the favor of becoming my son-in-law. Or do you have someone already in mind?" The man crosses his arms. Ironwood sighs, "You're losing your votes to the Lieutenant." The man chuckles, "I wouldn't mind; it's (Y/n). I would prefer for my votes to go to someone who cares about the people than someone who's in it for the money. Besides, I wasn't going to do this forever. Think about my offer." The man ends the call.
A knock is heard, "General Ironwood, we have something to show you."
"Come in."
Two professors of Atlas Academy enter the office. "Professors." The teachers glance at each other, "Good to see you, General. We found something that might interest you."
Ironwood signals them to continue.
"While we were researching our next lesson, we came across this." The first Professor places a book on Ironwood's desk, "A fairytale? The story of The Saint who served the Gods."
The second Professor clears his throat, "Well, it might not be a fairytale. You see, we found famous landmarks in the book do exist in our world. We don't have enough proof, but we believe that... Perhaps our very own Lieutenant may be involved."
"The most logical is, we don't know the Lieutenant's background; perhaps her family is descendants of what we found." One of them pulls up an old map, "Our world does change over time, but if we pull up our current map." A hologram of Remnant appears between the Professors and Ironwood, "Here we can see land in Vale that has yet to be explored. There is a town near the land, and a legend circles that the land has a wall of plant life, and a Shadow Knight is guarding the inner walls."
"If it's in Vale, we have no reason to include ourselves." Ironwood explains, "However, it may involve the Lieutenant. The Saint in the book carries the same name as the Lieutenant, and the imagery of what the Saint looks like is similar to her as well. And we heard the Headmaster of Vale call the Lieutenant 'Saint.' Her knowledge of the Grimm succeeds our very own teams who specialize in studying the Grimm. And why else, even after all these years, does the Lieutenant not seem to age?"
"We have photographs of the portraits within the walls and take a look at this-" Within the hologram shows a blurry photo of a woman sitting on a velvet chair holding an infant; standing next to the woman was a man whose face was cut off. Ironwood freezes slightly; the woman looks just like you; he extends his hand but stops himself.
Ironwood stands up, "That's enough; I don't want to continue this conversation, and any discussion that the Lieutenant has with the Headmaster of Beacon is confidential." The two professors nod, "Yes, General Ironwood." With that, the two leave the office. Ironwood glances at the 'evidence' they provided and stored them on his desk.
Since your last meeting with Cobalt, he began to show up while you were working. Of course, since Robyn was there, she didn't allow those meetings to happen. Eventually, you had enough and ended the constant 'visits.'
"I'll talk to him." Robyn crosses her arms, "What?" You place a few folders on your desk, "I said I would meet him. I'll tell him to his face, 'I don't want you here.' And he should get the idea that I can't have him harassing my employees."
You exit your office with Robyn following behind as if right on time; you see Cobalt standing in front of some guards.
"Mr. Myers, I want to have a word with you." You stood at the top of the staircase. Cobalt smiles, "Lieutenant!" Hesitant, the guards let him pass. You lead Cobalt into a drawing room. A coffee table separates two sofas with a tea set at the center. "Please have a seat; I'll serve you some tea." You begin to serve him tea.
"Could we talk alone?" Robyn glares at Cobalt. Waiting for your reply, "Five minutes." Robyn remains quiet as she leaves the room. The moment the door closes, Cobalt smirks. "It lovely to see you like this, Lieutenant."
"I can't say the same; straight to the point, why do you keep showing up?" Cobalt takes a sit of his drink, "You see, Lieutenant, I want to build a relationship with you. Our relationship will connect so many people. The beautiful Lieutenant with the soon-to-be head of the Blackhill Corp, we can do so much together."
"I don't need your connections; regardless, I've already spoken with the head of the Myers family. She apologized on your behalf." You take a sip of your cup. Cobalt's eyes darken slightly, "My mother?" You take notice of his reaction, "Yes, you see, I don't need anyone for connections since I build my own. And I tend to go back to Vale when the time comes."
"That's right; you're from Vale. That is probably why my semblance didn't work on you. Do you want to know what my semblance is, Lieutenant?" You give him a bored look. "Affection, I can connect my aura with others and form a connection with that person." You tilt your head, remembering that your aura wasn't your own. Cobalt crosses his arms, "Where is your family from?"
You smile, "I tend to keep my family life classified. It's not something I share."
"There has to be someone that knows your past."
"And that is something that doesn't concern you."
"Why do you push me away? I'm putting effort into meeting you; I have done nothing wrong-"
"I'm drawing a line that needs to be noticeable. And wasting my time is all I need to know who you really are. I'll reject you myself. I already have someone I'm interested in." You say with a smile. Cobalt is shocked by your response, "What?"
"That's all I can say; I have some work to do, so if you can excuse me. One of the-" You feel a gust of wind passes behind you, "I thought you wanted to talk alone." You glare at Cobalt, and a wave of electricity hits you, causing you to fall to the floor.
"Who knew capturing the Lieutenant would be this easy?"
You then try to get up, "What the fuck?" You curse, trying to overcome the sudden attack. "She's still trying to get up." Another wave flashes through, followed by another, and you begin to lose strength.
"Lieutenant!?" Robyn kicks the door open, seeing furniture tossed around and the door leading to the balcony open, "Shit, she's gonna murder them if we take too long." She takes out her scroll and contacts Ironwood. He answers Robyn's, "Ms. Hill-"
"The Lieutenant was taken."
"How?" Robyn explains the situation and mentions your meeting with Cobalt. You were taken. Ironwood wasted no time and began to send out an alert. "(Y/n) is missing. Hunt down all whereabouts of Cobalt Myers. Now."
You wake in a dark room, "What?" A black collar was around your neck, with a yellow crystal embedded in the front.
"Good to see you are awake; I was scared they hit you a little too hard."
You gave him an unamused look, "Well, this isn't the first time?" Cobalt stands back slightly, "Enough of your games; get to the point."
"You could live in luxury; I'll take care of you, everything you could have asked for. And you have to do is tell General Ironwood-"
"Tell General Ironwood that I resign my position- I've heard of all this before. Why are the crazy ones after me?"
"Oh! I've done my homework; you have a soft spot for children. Especially the Schnee children." Cobalt moves to the side, revealing Whitley unconscious with a collar similar to yours.
Your eyes sharpen, "Now that's something I can't forgive."
"Wow, you look like you want to kill me. The collars you wear are connected to this remote; whenever you do something I don't like, you..." Cobalt glances at Whitley, "And the boy will get electrocuted, and worse every time I press the button."
You glare at him, you were going to kill him, but now with Whitley, you can't do anything, not yet, at least. "I'll be back, be a good girl, and maybe I'll consider letting the boy go." Cobalt leaves the room. You hurry to Whitley, touching his forehead, "He's burning up."
You hold him close, "I can get you out of here." A gold aura surrounds you and merges with Whitley's.
After a moment, Whitley's fever goes down, and upon opening his eyes, fear surrounds him, "Where am I?"
"You're going to be okay, Whitley." Whitley turns his attention to you and sits up. "Miss (Y/n), what is this place?"
"Not sure yet; the windows are covered, but I'm going to get you out of here, but I'll have to remove this before you get hurt." You point at the collar. Whitley nods then the door opens, "Oh good; the boy is awake. I bet that helped you relax a bit." Cobalt enters the room holding a tray of food. Whitley hides behind you, "Don't be scared; as long as (Y/n) behaves, nothing will happen to you."
Cobalt sets the tray on a table, "Are you curious about the collars? They are manufactured to tame the Faunus, but they are very effective on humans. If people have more than one life, they could escape this." You then think of a plan to get Whitley to safety. Whitley noticed a change in your demeanor; he knew no matter what happened, you would protect him.
After a while, Cobalt finally leaves the room. "More than one life, huh." You didn't hesitate to begin. "I need you to trust me with this; it will be a little scary." Whitley nods, "I trust you." You sit Whitley facing away from you.
"I'm going to connect my aura with yours. It will be painless, but don't open your eyes until I say so." Whitley nods as he closes his eyes; your aura surrounds him as you remove his collar. Electricity runs through your arm as your fingertips begin shifting to black. The collar breaks, which relieves you. Whitley gasped, "Did it hurt you?" He shakes his head, "No, sorry." He sits up, touching his neck. You clench your fists as they return back to normal.
You sigh in relief as Whitley turns to you; you place your hands on Whitley's shoulders. "I'm going to send you with Ajin; he will take you to the academy. Once you get there, yell, 'Rook,' The guards will take care of you from there." Whitley clings to your sleeve, "What about you?"
"My priority is your safety." Ajin forms behind Whitley and picks him up. "Wait, Miss (Y/n)-"
Before Whitley could say continue, Ajin disappeared with him. Whitley shouts at Ajin, "Wait, go back! You can't leave her!" Ajin continues to sprint to the academy. "Rook!" Whitley yells immediately; guards surround Whitley, "It's the son of Schnee. Call for the General."
Whitley is then picked up and taken to check for any injuries. Now inside a med bay, a nurse takes his vitals as Ironwood enters the room, "Good to see you are safe." Whitley sits up, "General Ironwood."
"You used (Y/n)'s code; I assume she was with you?"
"Yes, she was. She used her semblance to bring me back but stayed behind." Ironwood hums, "Now that you're safe, we can move forward and bring (Y/n) back." Whitley clenched his fists.
"Please save Miss (Y/n), she got me out, but she's stuck with that man." Ironwood pats Whitley's head, "Don't worry; I'll save her. Get some rest. Your family will be here shortly." Whitley relaxes sightly now, waiting for your return.
Ironwood and the Happy Huntresses enter an airship. Ajin forms in front of Ironwood, "Take me to (Y/n)." Ajin turns around and points south, "Saint is in the Blackhill building." His eyes narrowed, "The Blackhill's building. Head to Blackhill Corp." Robyn nods her head and flies off. Standing in a dark room, you sigh, "Now I can tear this place down." Your eyes shine purple as the crystal around your neck cracks.
