♥Chapter 44: ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ꜱʜᴇ ꜰɪɴᴅꜱ ᴀ ʙᴜɢ♥
✿Kennedy✿
Jake and I stumble and stagger our way until we land ourselves at this very weird-looking place. The ground ahead of us seemed to crumble beneath my feet and ahead of us, it looked blue and even more wobbly.
Is the world ending?
The ground sure does look pretty funny though. Imagine stepping on the blue part of the ground and doing a little cha cha on it while it's moving like that.
How many people would fall and crack open their skulls?
"Wanna cha-cha over there?" I point at the blue ground.
Jake blinks at the blue ground. "I'm pretty sure we'll drown."
"How come?"
"It's the sea."
"The what now?"
"The beach."
"Bitch?"
He gasps, placing a hand on my mouth. "You said a bad word."
"No, I didn't." I furrow my eyebrows. "I said what you said."
"I said beach."
"What did I say then?"
"Bitch."
"What," My eyebrows rise until they reach my hairline, "did you just call me?"
Jake furrows his eyebrows. "What?"
I cross my arms against my chest. "Oh, I'm mad now."
"Why?"
"You called me a bad word!"
"No, I didn't." He furrows his eyebrows.
"You called me the b-word."
"Beautiful?"
"No, the other one."
"Bubbly?"
"Nope."
"Brilliant?"
"The other, other, one, Jake."
"Which one?" He furrows his eyebrows. "I just said we were at the beach."
"Are we, now?" I narrow my eyes.
"Yes, look." He points at the blue ground.
I look and this time the mist must've cleared off a little from my eyes because I could make out the splashing texture of water.
I blink at the sea.
Maybe he wasn't calling me a bad word...
Okay, so we're at the beach and the crumbly ground beneath my feet is the sand.
I let my body relax and remain silent. A dark sky sprinkled with stars stretches above us with the sound of the waves softly crashing to the shore. My feet submerge into the soft cool sand.
Now, wait a dang second.
My feet?
I look down.
My heels are missing!
I gasp, "Where did my heels go?"
Jake stops and looks down at my bare feet.
He furrows his eyebrows, "Didn't we try to donate it to a homeless man?"
A memory clicks into my brain.
My eyes widen, "That was a homeless man?"
"Yeah."
"No wonder he screamed when I threw my heels at him," I mumble.
I thought we were shooing away a dog.
He looked like a very fine dog to me.
Did he change forms in between or something?
Oh well, my bad.
Jake pulls me farther into the sand, near the waves.
We both stand silently beside each other, watching the dark horizon with the moon glistening like a silver coin in the sky. The sound of the waves relaxes my expressions.
Deciding we longer want to stand, we settle down and nestle together, watching the ocean for a long time. His hands wrap around my waist, my head leaning against his chest and my body between his legs.
My eyes start to droop, and I would have passed out if Jake didn't suddenly shift behind me, pulling up his legs and standing up.
"Where are you going?" I furrow my eyebrows.
He doesn't answer me.
Instead, he starts walking in a random direction and keeps on walking.
I stare after him in confusion.
Am I supposed to follow him...?
If he thinks I'm going to follow him, he thought wrong. My feet are killing me and there's no way I'm walking unless it's absolutely necessary.
Jake stops when he's at least fifty feet away.
He turns around and looks at me.
I keep the look of confusion on.
He gestures for me to go back to looking at the ocean.
"Are you gonna break into a run the moment I turn away?" I yell hoping my voice reaches out to him.
Was this his plan the whole time?
Take me to the beach and abandon me?
He shakes his head and gestures the same thing again.
I reluctantly turn to look back at the ocean, wrapping my arms around my bent knees.
The cool sand and wind sent chills up my spine. A tiny shiver runs down my body.
What if someone's tryna dispose of a body in the ocean but it just keeps on floating back to the shore because of the waves?
That must suck for the murderer.
For me, more particularly.
A few minutes pass.
Did Jake really break off into a run and leave me alone?
He wouldn't do that, would he?
I mean why would he? No one would even think of abandoning a sweet, quiet and shy girl like me. Even if Jake did abandon me, he wouldn't stay far for too long. I know it.
"You seem to be all alone."
My head jerks up. I look up to see Jake standing above me with his hands in his pocket. A tiny smile on his face.
"What?" I frown in confusion.
"I wouldn't mind if you wanted some company." His smile is charming.
My eyes almost match the size of the moon.
I don't think even Jake's great forefathers could have predicted that Jake's smile could ever be...charming.
"Uh yeah," I reply. "Thanks."
His smile widens and he lowers himself down beside me, matching my position and bending his knees, resting his arms on them.
"Um...are we doing that start-over thing?" I whisper to Jake.
He drops his charming façade for a second to nod at me before putting back his smile.
I nod in understanding and get ready to pull out my great acting skills.
"So what are you doing here out all alone?" He asks me. "By the way, you look extremely sexy, might I say."
"Just finding a quiet peaceful place I think," I shrug, "Also goodness gracious, tone it down with the compliments. It's not appropriate to compliment strangers like that."
"I like your hair." He continues looking at with me the same smile, but his eyes are showing a different look, "I feel like I might enjoy fisting it while I kiss you hard as fuck."
"Jesus, you have no filter." I put my hand on my mouth, "But I'm still very attracted to you."
"Do me the honours of being my girlfriend?" He asks.
"But we just met," I respond. "Oh well, never mind. I'm yours now."
"I'm falling in love with you." He says. "Now, I'm in love with you and I want to fuck you."
"Mama loves popsicles."
A little smirk comes on his face.
"I want to kiss you until your lips are bruised and your panting underneath me."
"Mama loves smoothies too."
"My name's Jake Knight by the way." He introduces. "'Can't believe I fell in love with you before even knowing your name."
"I know, right? I'm Kennedy Kinsey by the way and darn me if I suddenly start calling you Barbie or Bilbo."
"I think I'll like it if you say my actual name." He says, "Fuck, I think I'm going to get boners for at least five days whenever you say my name."
"Jake," I say softly.
"I knew it," He grins at me, "I knew I was going to love the sound of my name coming out of your mouth."
"Yeah, well I love you too."
His smile slowly falls away.
I wait for another one of his introductions or statements.
When there's nothing but silence, I look up to see the look of shock and disbelief etched on Jake's face.
What?
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I ask. "Do I have sand on my—"
Then it hits me.
I said I love you.
No.
No.
No. No. No. No.
Jake's entire façade drops, and he seems to act on his own as his mouth parts slightly open, his eyes gazing at me with emotions flickering in them.
"You said it back." He whispers. "You finally said it back."
I almost scream at myself.
I shake my head, resenting my habit of voicing whatever's in my head, "No, no, this was not how I wanted to tell you! I wanted to tell you when there was something special-like the New York lights and fireworks and all that!"
But Jake isn't entirely listening to me.
He moves from his place and sits up straight, taking my wrists in his hands.
His eyes hold a look of adoration and bliss and much more I can't comprehend.
"Say it one more time." He whispers as if he's afraid that he might not have heard me correct.
"Jake-"
"Please." He grips my wrist tighter.
I look at his waiting face and sigh, giving in.
I look him directly in the eye, "I'm in love with you."
He could barely contain his happiness as his face lights up like a thousand fireflies.
He snatches me from the waist and pulls me to his body, crashing his lips onto mine. His lips chase mine as if he's eager to get all of them. His arms squeeze my torso to his front.
My head loses itself in a deep abyss with the force of Jake's kiss. He's holding me to him as if he suddenly got everything he wanted in the world. My chest expands with feelings I can't control.
His mouth tastes bittersweet, like Wonka and cookies.
I'm drugged.
If someone told me that someday someone would hold me and kiss me like this, I'd laugh before suggesting they cartwheel off a building.
Jake finally removes his mouth off mine, gripping me tightly around the waist, not being able to hide the huge grin on his face.
My fingers can't help but reach out and trace the edge of the beautiful stretch of his perfectly carved lips. He rests his head on my shoulder, wrapping his arms around me.
He's breathing hard, like me.
"I don't like you." I huff. "I was going to make it a special moment or something like that for you."
"You love me." A soft smile comes on his face as he closes his eyes, resting his cheek against my shoulder.
"She loves me." He whispers to himself.
I stare at his boyish smile before a smile of my own comes onto my face. I run my hands up and down his back.
Minutes pass by us just holding each other and listening to the calm waves of the ocean along with our soft breaths.
A loud voice breaks through the silence like a trumpet in the middle of the graveyard.
"I found them!"
Jake doesn't lift his head, but I turn my head around to look.
Corey and Toothy are striding towards Jake and me; Toothy looking furious, Corey looking like he got slapped by the furious.
"Why the hell did you two run away?" Toothy yells, planting her feet in front of Jake and me, glaring down at us.
I discreetly nudge Jake's side to let him know that you don't sleep on someone's shoulder when you're being scolded by the human version of a volcano.
He continues to remain in the same position he is.
"If it weren't for Jake's location, we would have never found you!" Toothy continues.
Corey's slightly panting beside Toothy with his hands on his knees, "She," Corey starts deliberately slowly, "made me run into every shop and house and everywhere. To check for you guys. Then after making me run for ten miles," Corey smiles. "SHE REMEMBERS TO CHECK THE MOTHERFUCKING LOCATION!" He yells with a scowl.
"I said I was sorry!" Toothy hisses.
Corey widens his eyes, "What? When? When the fuck did you say sorry?"
"When I realized that I could have simply checked Jake's location." She replies.
"No, you didn't!" Corey exclaims, throwing his hands around, "You said oops."
"Close to an apology." She shrugs.
"I'm done with all of your cruelty!" He exclaims, "Jake wants to kill me! Kennedy wants to kill me! You want to kill me! I'm done!"
Corey starts walking away but Toothy shoots her hand out and grabs Corey by the back of his shirt, pulling him back.
"Fine! Fine! I'm sorry!" Toothy mumbles, wrapping her arm around Corey's neck in a half hug.
Corey settles down but he still wears a small glare.
Toothy lets out a groan, "Is Jake sleeping? If he's sleeping then he probably won't wake up until tomorrow morning and I don't think we can carry him to the car."
I look back at Jake's calm poised figure, my fingers running through his soft brown hair. He has his eyes closed with his face relaxed.
"I think he's sleeping," I respond fondly, my fingers moving to caress his cheek.
"Only one way to find out now, is there?" Corey says, bending down so his face is closer to Jake's.
Corey sucks in a deep breath.
"Jake! Jake! Jake! Jake! Jake! Jake! Jake! Jake! Jake! Jake! Jake! Jake! Jake—"
Jake's fist shoots out and punches Corey right across the face.
Corey falls back onto the sand with an 'oomph'.
He clutches his right cheekbone, groaning. "Toothy! Jake punched me!"
"I saw that." She mutters.
"You don't get it?" Corey exclaims, getting off the sand and looking at Toothy. "He punched me! On my face! My beautiful face!"
"And?"
"See if there's gonna be any bruise forming there or not." Saying that Corey brings his cheekbone closers to Toothy's face for her to see.
Instead of doing that though, Toothy brings up her fingers and pinches Corey's face.
Corey yelps, jerking away from her. "What was that for?"
"You were too close to me." She states.
Corey scowls rubbing his cheek where Toothy pinched him.
"So is he awake or not?" Toothy raises an eyebrow at Jake.
I shrug, "Only one way to find out now is there?"
I grab a handful of sand and throw it at Jake's face.
He jerks up. The sand goes into his mouth. He starts coughing, not realizing his face is extremely close to mine so he's basically coughing the sand onto my face.
I shriek. "Stop coughing at my face!"
"You're the one who threw it at my fucking face!" Jake brings his hands up to wipe the tiny particles of sand on his face.
I start coughing too.
"Ah, there's sand in my eyes!" Jake places his hands on his eyes.
"Serves you right," Corey huffs.
"There's sand in my eyes too!" I exclaim, placing my hands on my eyes.
"Serves you right too, I guess?" Corey says.
Jake and I vigorously start rubbing our eyes as if we're at a war seeing who'll light up the bomb first.
"Stop doing that or your eyeballs are gonna get crushed!" Toothy exclaims.
I feel something in my pocket and pull it out.
"Ooo candy!" I grin before putting the yellow candy in my mouth and trying to bite it.
"That," Toothy plucks it out from my hand, "is your inhaler."
"My what now?" I blink.
"Your inhaler."
"I'm supposed to inhale it?"
"Uh, kinda yeah."
"How do you inhale a candy?"
"It's not candy!" Toothy puts it away safely in her pocket.
"Jake," I call him.
"What?" He answers.
"Who's the hottest girl you know?"
"Uh, you." He replies.
"Wrong. It's Selena Gomez." I answer.
He shrugs. "I still think it's you."
"Your mental problem is acting again," I say.
Something glints in Corey's hair. Something like blue...or green. Something really small. Something wiggly.
I gasp, "Bug!"
"What did you call me?" Jake raises his eyebrows.
"Not you!" I respond. "Bug! There's a bug in Corey's hair!"
"What?" Corey's eyes widen. "For real? Get it out!" He starts swiping at his hair.
I reach forward to grab the bug but it's extremely difficult when Corey has two heads. How did he manage to grow another head, god knows. And why are both his heads so blurry?
Maybe he wanted another brain to support his already small one.
I reach forward, forcing my eyes to get rid of the mist and focus on picking the bug. I blink several times before my fingers finally reach Corey's hair.
I yank out the bug.
Corey screams.
He clutches the spot from where I yanked out the bug, grimacing.
Toothy slaps the back of Corey's head. "Don't scream."
"Did you get it?" Corey asks me.
I open my palm. Several thin pieces of something yellow lie on my palm.
"I didn't know you hid hay up there," I blink.
"My hair!" Corey snatches the yellow hay from me, looking down at it as if he's going to cry. "Oh, my precious hair. What happened to you?"
"Here, lemme try to get the bug out again." I reach forward again
Corey jerks back, away from me. "Miss ma'am." He glares at me. "You are no longer permissible to get your heinous hands near my beautiful hair ever again!"
"But the bug's still in there," I tell him.
He purses his lips. His eyes dart to my outstretched hand before looking back at my face.
"Fine..." He says hesitatingly. "I'll let you try once more. Don't yank out my hair this time or I won't be responsible for what happens next."
"You're never responsible anyways," I respond, reaching out to his hair.
Toothy and Jake let out a chuckle at my words.
"Jake's rubbing off on you." Corey narrows his eyes at me.
"No, he's not." I furrow my eyebrows. "He's sitting perfectly still on the ground."
I look at Jake who's currently not rubbing against me. He catches my eye and winks.
I wink back. Only...I can't wink. So it's just me blinking at him. I add a little flirty look so it looks as if I meant to wink.
"Kennedy!" Corey yelps. "Get your fingers off my nose!"
I look away from Jake to see my fingers on Corey's nose, pinching them so that his two holes are squished together preventing him from breathing.
How did my fingers manage to do that?
Eh, at least he knows what it's like not to breathe.
"Die, motherlover!" I squeeze his nose shut harder.
Corey starts flailing his arms, jumping up and down "Toothy!"
Toothy sighs, plucking my hand away from Corey's nose.
Corey lets out a huge gasp of relief.
"Let me just get to the bug," I say and reach forward to Corey's hair.
It takes me millions of years before I finally spot the blue-green bug and pluck it out.
"Oh." I look at the tiny thing in my hand. "It's a rock."
Everyone stares at the rock.
"It must've gotten in there when Corey fell after Jake punched him," Toothy says.
"I wanna punch someone!" I raise my hand.
"Anything you want." Jake smiles at me.
He grabs the front of Corey's shirt and yanks him towards me. "Go ahead."
Corey slaps Jake's hand away from him, glaring.
"My gorgeous face has already been abused enough. None of you are allowed to even think about—"
I slap him.
Corey's mouth drops open, stunned. His hand slowly comes up to his face, touching the part where I slapped him.
He stares at me with a look of betrayal. He looks at Toothy. He looks at Jake.
And then...
✯✯✯
"Just let me die!" Corey yells.
"If you don't stop this nonsense at once, I swear to god, I'll slap you till Narnia!" Toothy threatens, grunting as she tries pulling Corey out of the waters.
The waters reach up till our chest, almost barrelling us away with the waves. It's so cold too. But I can't get out without Corey.
Why is he tryna kill himself anyway? It's not like Jake, Toothy and I are cruel to him. I don't get why Corey wants to kill himself when he has three angel-like best friends.
Toothy and I grip each one of Corey's arms, trying to pull him back.
"I can't stand this abuse anymore!" Corey yells, trying to free his arms.
I look back at Jake who's sitting calmly on the sand with his legs crossed as if his step-brother isn't tryna suicide over here and is also taking down Toothy and me along with it.
His words were 'Why should I give a fudge what that dumbbutt does? It's his life.'.
"Corey!" Toothy snaps. "If you don't get out of the water in three seconds, you're banned from talking to me for a whole week!"
"Why don't I just kill myself instead?" Corey suggests, struggling to wring his arms free from Toothy's and my grasp. "Ladies, let go of me! I can't go further without drowning you two along with me."
"Then don't!" I yell.
"It's too late for that." Corey declares.
"Shut up and get your butt back on the sand!" Toothy yells.
Shivers run up and down my spine because of the water and I'm pretty sure we're all gonna fall sick the next morning.
I look back at Jake.
I glare at him.
"If you don't help us right this instant, you're banned from talking to me for a whole week!" I use Toothy's words on him.
A startled look comes on Jake's face. "What?"
"I'm serious."
"That's not fair!" He scowls.
"Three...two..."
"Fine!" He jumps up from the sand, grumbling as he steps into the water and walks toward us.
He reaches us and grabs Corey from the back of his shirt and yanks him back. With his two big arms, Jake lifts Corey and slings him across his shoulder.
"Hey!" Corey yells, slamming his fist on Jake's back. "Let me die in peace! Put me down!"
Jake starts walking towards the shore with me and Toothy following him close behind.
When we're finally out of the water, I immediately drop to the ground and start putting sand all over my wet body and legs so it can act as a blanket from the cold.
Corey sits quietly, sulking.
Jake drops down beside me.
"Your watch." Toothy points out, wringing water out of her long brown hair. "Is it waterproof?"
Corey looks at his watch and flicks it with his finger. "Yup."
"You should remove it and let it dry." She suggests.
His hand comes on the watch almost defensively. He shakes his head. "It's fine."
Toothy gazes at Corey for a little longer before shrugging. "Whatever."
"It's so cold!" My teeth chatter as I continue enveloping myself with the sand.
Jake looks at me before turning around to glare at Corey. "This is all your fault."
"Leave me alone, man." Corey narrows his eyes. "I'm cold too."
"Who told you to go into the water then?" Toothy asks.
Corey shrugs.
Toothy starts shivering too in a while and eventually Corey's teeth start chattering too.
"Let's all huddle together?" I suggest.
"Ew no," Toothy says.
"No thanks." Jake says.
"Okay!" Corey grins.
Corey and I huddle together opening our arms for Toothy and Jake to join us.
They don't budge and instead look at us as if we're asking them to strip and hand us their clothes.
"Come on." I urge them.
"It gets nice and cozy if we're all sticking to each other," Corey says.
Toothy hesitates before she finally rolls her eyes and shuffles beside Corey.
Jake too gives in with a small grumble.
Together we're all snuggled on the sand, gazing at the sea. The waves crash softly and makes a peaceful sound in the night. The air feathers through us, blowing back our hair as we relish in that feeling of calmness.
This feels good for some reason.
Us friends all together. Not trying to kill each other and just sitting, huddled together.
This moment could last forever.
And I would change nothing about it.
✯✯✯
Has your head ever felt like you've been hit with a basketball, later with a baseball bat, then with a frying pan, then finally got run over by a truck at the end?
Well, the pain in my head feels just as so.
Not sure if I should be happy that I got my first experience of having a hangover or immensely regret it.
I'm scared as heck to even open my eyes. Afraid that it would worsen the pain in my head.
My back lays flat against a bed with my hands gripping the sheets. My eyebrows pull into a hard frown as my head tries to fight against the pain to remember what happened last night.
Why don't I remember anything?
Jake and I found these cookies and then Corey started freaking out before he mauled our heads with a pan, enough to make us lose consciousness for a while.
He tied us up then, didn't he?
Nothing's coming clear after that...
Only its and bits.
Toothy's furious face, the sea, Jake rolling down the stairs, Corey's screaming...were we drowning too?
The sound of a door opening reaches my ears and I wince at the sound. The headache.
"You up?" Jake's voice asks above me.
"Nope."
The bed dips before his warm hand comes on my head, giving it a light squeeze and massaging my scalp.
"I got you Ibuprofen and something to eat and drink." He says softly, moving my hair out of my face.
"I don't wanna open my eyes." I groan.
"It's worst the first time."
Something wet dabs at my mouth. Jake cleans the area near my mouth with a wet wipe, no doubt cleaning the remains of my precious glistening drool.
"How come you're up and walking around?" I groan again. "I feel like I'm going to die."
"Like I said, it's worst the first time."
After giving my head a few more minutes of light massage which felt like pure heaven to my body, he gently makes me sit up, resting my back against the headboard.
I finally crack open my eyes, groggily blinking into the sunlight pouring in to Jake's room.
I rarely sleep in my room anymore. It seems like my room is only for when I want to change clothes.
A glass presses against my lips and I take a drink out of whatever Jake's making me drink.
"What is this?" I ask as I wince at the sour taste.
"Grape juice."
"Oh."
He makes me take another sip.
After slowly downing the whole glass, he makes me eat a piece of toast.
While he feeds me, I take my time to blink away the blurriness from my eyes to take in his face.
He looks fresh and showered at ten in the morning wearing a dark hoodie and sweatpants. His turquoise eyes watch me as his hands work.
Finally, when I'm done eating, he makes me take the Ibuprofen and I down it along with water.
"Feeling better?" He asks, putting the glass and plate away.
I nod, giving him a smile, "Thank you."
He places a light kiss on my mouth.
I move the sheets off me and slide down the bed, realizing I'm changed into a sweatshirt that isn't mine.
"What happened last night?" I ask, stretching my body.
Jake leans against the headboard, one arm behind his head, and stares at me with intent eyes as he watches me stretch.
"We ate a full bowl of weed cookies, downed a bottle of Corey's dad's Wonk—Vodka, got drunk and high, ran off to the beach, saved Corey from drowning himself, and passed out." He recites. "Corey and Toothy brought us home after calling Alex."
"Being drunk is not as fun as it sounds." I let out a small shudder, "I don't think I remember feeling half of my body parts the entire night."
"I told you I didn't want to go to Corey's fucking party."
"In a way..." I drag out, "I did get my first experience of drinking, taking drugs and attending a party."
Jake gives me a look.
I smile and move to walk out the door to take a shower.
Before I could reach the door, he grabs my wrist and spins me around.
"Say it once more." He presses me against the wall, looking into my eyes.
"What?" I ask, startled.
"What you told me last night." His face ignites with a new look.
"Wha-"
"Say that you love me."
My eyes widen with a memory diving out of my forgotten memories into my head.
Oh crap! How could I forget that?
Oh no, no, no, no, no.
Hold up though—
"You called me the b-word!" I accuse him.
Jake narrows his eyes. "I didn't. You said it first."
"Jake, you out of all people, should know that I never use bad words. My mama raised me right."
"You don't remember but I do. You said the word bitch."
"Liar."
"Shut up."
"Why would you call me the b-word?"
"Kennedy, you out of all people, should know that I would never call you a bitch."
I stare at him accusingly for a few minutes.
"Fine." I finally drop it.
I turn around to walk out the door.
"Oh no. Not so fast." His arm comes around my waist, pulling me back. "Don't think you can divert my mind."
Oh crap. I really thought that would work.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I cross my arms.
"Yes, you do. I'm not Kennedy, my mind cannot be distracted." He says.
I scowl at him. "You wanna try me?"
"First say what you said to me at the beach."
"Wanna cha-cha over there?" I say. "There, now let me go."
"That's not what I wanted." He says.
"Well you can't get everything you want now, can you?" I try moving towards the door.
He holds me back in place. "I love you."
"Let me get my phone so I can send the emojis and the selfie—" I try to move away.
"I love you." He holds my hand, stepping closer so his chest is almost pushing me towards the wall.
"You little stubborn piece of—"
"I love you."
I stop trying to move away.
With a sigh, I look up to meet his eyes.
"There are no New York lights or fireworks," I mumble.
"No." He says. "But there's me and you." He tightens his hold on my hand.
I gaze at his face. His breath fans against my face and his eyes watch me intently.
My bottom lip comes between my teeth before a smile warms my face.
I lean towards his body, snaking my hands around his neck and bringing him down to place a kiss on his mouth.
His hands grip the sides of my waist as if the wait is making him anxious.
I lean my head back to look at his face.
"I love you."
A feeling of warmth and excitement rushes between us and a smile breaks onto Jake's face.
My heart melts at the expression on his face. This might be the first time where I've probably seen Jake showing that he's happy without his stoic face trying to hide it.
He stares at me with bright eyes as I stare back.
Like he said, It's me and him.
Forever.
I know it.
His hand comes up to caress my face, as he brings his mouth closer to mine. "I love you too."
