Dinner

L U N I

Me, Jayla and Kylee Run into the house, and we find it empty. So, they must have gone to lunch by now. I still had time but maybe starting a little early won't hurt, right? Making the cake would take just about 20 minutes and the mousse can chill in the fridge.

I decided to go through some of our new clothes that Kylee brought for her and me because she thought I could wear something nice tonight, and then after dinner we would go to some party.

Obviously, I, and my parents would be all too tired for a housewarming party tonight, so we decided to plan it for Friday.

"Luni, I bought this especially for you!" Kylee holds up an olive green corset dress. It looks simple, but its off shoulder with a sweetheart neckline and long puffed sleeves that are fitted at the wrists with white polka dots and a flared skirt that is gathered at the waist.

It also has a lace up front.

"Hmm, that's a maybe. Another?" I ask. It's cute, but I can't figure it out cause there are like a thousand. There is also a hard kind of corset top that ties at the back with a pleated skirt, but it's too... dressy for a dinner.

"Ooh, this looks super cute!" Jayla exclaims holding up a white summer dress. It has ruffles and spaghetti straps with a corset-like design.

"No that's too dressy, I think I'll go with the olive-green corset dress," I finalize.

"Great, And I have a pair of nude heels that would go great with the dress," Jayla replies.

"Okay enough for me, let's get to your dresses," I said before going through Jayla's closet. I find a white dress with puffed sleeves and corset lacing so we can match! It has long sleeves too, so it looks super elegant yet simple.

"This is yours, it's also a corset dress so it's cute," I throw it to her. "This is nice, I'll go with it,"

Jay smiles.

"Alright, for mee," Kylee takes out a shopping bag. "I'll just go along with something simple," She shrugs.

It's a dress with a floral patterns and short sleeves with some green leaves.

"Okay, so the idiots are going to be here soon so let's pack our clothes and makeup and go to yours," Jayla says after we finalized our dresses.

We put our dresses in the shopping bags and Jayla got a few more makeup supplies and then we went to my room, to my house.

"OH MY GOD, GIRL YOUR ROOM IS GORGOUS!" Kylee literally, screams.

"Yeah, it's like so cute," Jay agrees. "Yeah, So My mom texted me she is coming, and the boys are staying here too so yeah. Also, daelo will be coming too from his practice,"

"Oh god. Okay let's get to the kitchen,"

We all go to the kitchen, and I take out some ingredients for the strawberry cheesecake first. Jayla wants to record asmr but like with some voice and Kylee to help if I need help.

I take fresh Strawberries from the fridge and some cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla wafers because poor me has no crackers.

First, I crush the vanilla wafers and mix them with melted butter. I press this mixture into the bottom of a pan to make the crust.

Next, I beat the cream cheese until it's smooth. I add sugar and vanilla extract, mixing well. Then, I fold in chopped strawberries.

"Oh, that smells nice," Jayla sniffs the batter. She is holding her camera stand and Kylee is helping to re heat the oven.

I pour this mixture over the crust and smooth the top. Then I put it to the oven, and I bake the cheesecake until the edges are golden brown which takes a few minutes, so we just chatted.

Once the Cake was baked, I put some extra frosting after cooling it then put it to the freezer to chill.

"Alright, Mom will be here by now, so now we have to make lasagna. Who wants to help?" I ask.

"ME!"

The front door opens, and Javon runs to the kitchen gaping.

"Hi Javon, and no, I was asking jay and Ky here," I roll my eyes playfully. Javon pouts and grumbles but then grabs the packet of chips I was munching on.

"Hey, give it back!" I yell. "Don't worry, I got this," Jaden yells right behind him.

I don't go because Javon would finish it anyway so turn to the kitchen and start to prepare for lasagna.

"Hey lu," Mom's voice comes. "You got the ingredients right? I'll help you make the chicken,"

"Mum, why don't we actually skip that? Don't you think it's a little too much?" I ask thoughtfully.

"Hmm, okay. Well, if you need any help, I'm with jess!" She smiles and retreats to the house next door.

I take out ground beef, lasagna noodles, some ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, an egg, marinara sauce, an onion, garlic, and some Italian seasoning.

Jayla brings large pot of water to a boil. As the water heats up, I watch the tiny bubbles form at the bottom and rise to the surface. Once it's boiling, I add the lasagna noodles and cook them for about 8-10 minutes until they're al dente. The noodles dance around in the bubbling water, and I give them a gentle stir to keep them from sticking together.

While the noodles cook, I heat a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic. The sizzle of the meat hitting the hot pan is so satisfying. I cook the mixture until the beef is browned and the onions are soft, then drain the excess fat. I stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning, letting it simmer for a few minutes to blend the flavors.

In a bowl, I mix the ricotta cheese with an egg and some grated Parmesan cheese. This will be one of the creamy layers in the lasagna, also my favorite layers. Kylee and Jayla offer to help me layer.

Now, it's time to assemble. I spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Then, I place a layer of cooked noodles on top, followed by a layer of the ricotta mixture, and then a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese. I repeat these layers until all the ingredients are used up, finishing with a generous layer of mozzarella and Parmesan on top.

I cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake it in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 25 minutes. The kitchen fills with the delicious aroma of baking lasagna. After 25 minutes, I remove the foil and let it bake for another 25 minutes to get a nice golden crust on top.

"It smells so good!" I exclaim excitedly. "Yeah, it does!" Kylee agrees, I almost see drool.

"Hahha, Okay Let's put it in the microwave so it can stay warm," I said before taking it out. I let it cool a bit and then put it in the microwave and close it.
