Chapter Twelve.

Meeting Jade's Mother And Brother.

Jade had decided that it would be better if they had dinner at the restaurant instead of at home but Layla didn't want to do that.

She wanted to show Jade's mother that she was welcome home whenever she and Maher wanted.

"Are you sure about this, mamma? You have work......"

"Jade, I don't work all the time. Besides, I have your dad who will be helping me in preparing the dinner. And you will prepare the dessert. I don't want her to think that we don't want her in our home. She will feel that we in a way don't want you to have a relationship with them. I love you and you are our daughter and that would never change", Layla explains to Jade.

She couldn't help but feel the need to hug her mother. In a way, Jade felt content with what Layla told her.

Jade didn't want to overwhelm them by inviting everyone in the family. But she did invite her favorite uncle and aunt plus Hamza and Ayla.

"Thank you, mamma, for everything that you have done for me until now", Jade tells her while hugging her.

"It is what you do for the people you love. You love and care for them unconditionally and that's how parents are", Jason says interrupting them.

"Your dad is right Plus without you, our family would be incomplete, "Layla says looking at her daughter who had unshed tears in her eyes. "Now we need to know if they are allergic to anything so that we can avoid making them," she added.

Jade explained to her mother how they are as she has been talking to them on the phone.

After that, they all agreed on the day of the lunch that Maher and Warda would come home.

Meanwhile, Hamza was back at his father's company after taking a break for a year. He needed it.

Even though he did have a teaching degree in history, Hamza also had his master's in business. He loved both of the subjects.

"Sir, She is here", the Secretary tells him.

"Tell her to come in and make sure that no one disturbs us", he tells her.

The Secretary nodded and walked out to get her.

This is it, Hamza. The time to hurt her just the way she hurt me. Especially when she is the one who was driving the car.

He was interrupted by a knock on the door. Hamza walked to the door and opened it himself rather than tell her to come in.

"Asalam aleikum why am I......"

"Sit down. Don't talk until I am done. Whatever enmity you had with her, you didn't have to kill her....."

"I didn't kill her. I wasn't even driving because I don't know how....."

Hamza didn't want to listen to her. He was so angry at her because she died and she survived.

"I don't want to listen. You have two options, work for me or I send you to prison. Your choice. Make it now because I don't have time to see your face as it reminds me of her", he tells her.

She knew that this was her fate because of her, she had to suffer.

As usual, I get to suffer for your mistakes, little sister. Dad was right, I am a bad omen.

"I will work for you...."

"Great choice. You will be my private assistant and you will not have a day off or even a night off when I need you," Hamza explains to her. And then calls his secretary inside his office. "I need you to tell the maintenance to bring a desk and a chair to my office... Tell them to take it to your office. You will be sharing your office with her.And that she will be handling a few things that I will need", Hamza added.

Melissa asked her to follow her to the office to get settled.

"Sometimes you just let things the way they are because when they come to light, everyone will be shocked at how much a person can take", Melissa tells her.

"Thank you but I promise I will be fine," she tells her giving her a small smile.

Hamza couldn't believe that what he had planned just started and he will make sure that she gets the justice that she deserves.

The day of the lunch arrived, and everything was ready for them.

Jade was nervous about how her mamma will react to them. She had so many questions in her mind.

"Jade, stop. You will be fine and everything will be fine. In shaa Allah", Jayden tries to calm her down.

He knew what this day meant for her. She wanted her family's approval of having a relationship with her biological mother and her brother.

"Thank you for being here with me. And thank you for helping me make this because....."

"Because it is your parents' favorite. I know that. And I would be happy to do it again just for you", Jayden tells her making Jade blush.

She never expected that he would make her feel the way she felt inside her. The feelings Jade thought she might never feel because of what had happened to her in the past.

I don't know if I can handle not being with you, Jayden but whatever this has to stop because somehow we might not work.

Jayden watched as Jade worked on the finishing touches of the dessert before placing it in the fridge to cool.

He wanted to tell her more about his feelings but Jayden knew that it would scare her.

He remembered what Maya told him.

"She is too stubborn for her own good. She might say things that she might not mean but Jade is just like dad in a way. She will take her time but be there for her and everything will fall into place".

It was time for the guests to arrive, they were welcomed by Layla, Jason, Naeem, and Ayat. As it was a special day for their daughter/niece.

They wanted to support her in any way that they can even if it is to be happy for her when she needs it.

The moment that Warda and Maher walked into the house, they immediately knew that Layla was the one who is in front of them.

She was exactly how Jade described her.

"Asalam Aleikum, how are you doing?", Layla asks Warda who smiled at how they were warmly welcomed by Jade's family.

Alhamdullilah, my daughter got the best family that anyone could ask for. Now the only one I can think of is Maher. But Allah knows best.

"Waleikum salaam, good alhamdullilah. Thank you for meeting us and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for Jade......"

"You don't have to thank us. I am glad that she is in our lives making our family complete. Don't worry, all will be well, in shaa Allah", Layla tells her smiling. "I am sorry I forgot to introduce you, this is my brother Naeem and his wife Ayat. And my husband and my other daughter will be here soon," she added pointing at them.

As they continued talking, Rocco, Maya, and Jason walked into the house.

"Asalam Aleikum, I am sorry that I am late. We had to do something", Jason apologized to Warda who just shook her head and smiled.

"Waleikum salaam. It is okay. I understand", she answers and then looked at Maya. "You must be Maya. Jade told me so much about you. You are all exactly how she had describe you", she added smiling.

"Thank you".

Maher was mesmerized by Maya who just smiled at him. But this didn't go unnoticed by Rocco when he put his arm around her.

"I have a question to ask that if you don't mind", Maher asks them.

"Go ahead, ask".

"Do you have a boyfriend?", he asks Maya who couldn't help but laugh knowing that the person beside her is fuming with jealousy.

This question made everyone in the room laugh, except Rocco who was clenching his jaw.

"Actually, I am...."

"She is engaged to me", Rocco tells him.

Jason and Layla couldn't help but chuckle at him. They knew how Rocco is with Maya.

They knew that he has been in love with Maya ever since they were in high school and he waited for her for almost five years.

"I am sorry, I didn't know", Maher apologized to Rocco and Maya.

"It is okay. Don't worry about it. Love will come when you are ready for it but for now concentrate on you studies", Rocco tells him.

"He is right. And don't even think about flirting with my sister, Maher. Besides, you are a teenager", Jade says as she walked into the living room. "Asalam Aleikum everyone. I am sorry that I am late. We can go to the dining room now", she added.

They all walked into the dining room to find everything was ready.

Layla couldn't help but feel proud of both of her daughters as they accomplished what they intended to do.

Maya is currently working on her first book while Jade is happy with being a chef.

And that's all that matters in her life except for Hamza who has been distant for almost two years.

But Allah knows best even though Layla knew that she is and will always be innocent in her eyes.

"Ma shaa Allah, this amazing. Thank you", Warda tells Jade as they all took a seat on the chairs.

"You are most welcome. And now we can eat".

Allah does know best for us. How I regret abandoning you, my dear daughter. Every day of my life I will be living with this regret. I know that you have forgiven me but I haven't forgiven myself. I don't even deserve happiness in my life.

Warda looked around the table, she couldn't help but feel content that Jade will be happy here and with her fiancée Jayden.

"Jade, how's your fiancée? I haven't seen him. Where is he?", she asks her making Jason turn his head to his daughter.

Jayden, I will get you for this. Why did you even tell her that you are my fiancée? Now I have to explain to my parents why I don't want to do that.

"Umm, he is busy with work....."

"Okay, I would love to see the both of you again. In shaa Allah", she says smiling at Jade who had her family's eyes on her.

"In shaa Allah".

Jason wanted to ask who was Warda talking about but Layla shook her head at him.

"You will ask her later", she mouthed to him. Jason nodded and continued eating.

After everyone has finished eating, Jade got up to serve the dessert but she was followed by Jason who needed to ask her about the fiancée that Warda was talking about.

"Dad...."

"I am not here to yell at you, Jade. I am here to listen to you so that you can explain what she meant by fiancée", Jason tells his daughter.

He always wanted the best for his family. His family means the world to him, especially after what had happened to him in his past.

Jason had never kept his past from his daughters. He knew that they needed to know who their father was in the past.

Jade started explaining what Warda meant by her having a fiancée. She didn't want to hide anything from her father who was always by her side no matter what.

"So that's why she thought that Jayden is my fiancée. She has fourth stage cancer and doesn't have long, dad. Jayden decided that it would be better if she would think that I am engaged so that she couldn't worry about me", Jade tells her father.

"Okay, I understand that. So you and Jayden...."

"Dad, come on. Not you too. I am taking this in the dinning room before you start many another stupid comment", Jade says walking away with the dessert in her hands.

Jason couldn't help but laugh at her.

My wife was right. I guess Naeem will lose a lot of money because he will have to buy Layla whatever books she wants. This will teach him never to bet against Layla. Sorry, brother.
