Everyone gathered into the main lobby of the apartment building, the wild annoying ring of the fire alarm could still be faintly heard from upstairs.

Rapunzel a college student who lived in the apartment complex was by the front desk, leaning on it to keep awake.

This just had to happen at 3 am in the morning? Rapunzel yawned still in her pink night shirt and purple pj bottoms.

Her eyes scanned the room of the others from her building. She realized she didn't know many of them. But then she spotted one she wanted to know.

She knew a little about him already. His name was Jack and he lived in the door across from her. He was tall, lean had brown hair and had the most gorgeous smile. Now here he was in his boxers and a thin t-shirt. He had a little bit of bed head and he looked sleepy. Yet he somehow still looked good.

"That's just not fair." She muttered to herself.

He caught her glancing towards him. She looked away quickly.

'Great he looks like that and now he sees me in my purple pajama pants with no make up.' She thought. 'Please don't come over here.' .

"Hey apartment C14." He said.

"Good morning." Rapunzel replied.

"Is this usual? The fire alarms going off?"

"That's right you've been here only less than a year! You don't know about the yearly fire alarm check."

"Please tell me you're kidding?"

"I am not unfortunately, although it usually happens at a decent hour like 8 o'clock pm." She replied.

"Why does everyone come out then if they know it's a test?" He asked.

"Well you see that little old lady there. Her name is Ms Everson. She fell asleep with her iron on and the alarm went off but no one came out because they thought it was just a test. That is until her neighbor started smelling smoke. Ever since then we always come out no matter what." Rapunzel reported.

"Wow I didn't even know what I was getting into when I moved here." He replied.

"I'm Jack by the way." He added

"I know." She said "I mean I've heard your uh name said before...I mean...I'm Rapunzel." Rapunzel said.

He chuckled "I know."

"How?" She asked.

"Well Rapunzel is a pretty uncommon name. Once you hear it you don't forget it." He replied.

"Even your explanations sound better than mine." She replied.

"Alright folks it was just a test there is no fire!" The landlord said. "You can all go back to your homes."

"Well I guess no one left an iron on." Jack said.

The two were at their doors that shared the same hallway.

"Thank goodness. I guess I'll see you in the hallway?" She asked.

"Yeah and if you ever want to get coffee sometime before school uh just don't hesitate to knock." He said.

Rapunzel blushed "That would be great."

"Great I'm looking forward to it. Goodnight. Or I guess I should say good morning." He laughed.

"Well good morning Jack." She said opening her door.

"Good morning Rapunzel." He smiled.

Rapunzel went into her apartment and closed the door behind her. She never thought she could ever love being woken up at 3 am, today was the day.
