Opposites (Part 1)

[Requested by @i_is_still_dead . Enjoy!]

The November wind blew around you, causing your hair to get tangled up in your white flower crown. You hastily reparted your hair as you neared your high school. Adjusting your pink shirt, you sighed as you walked up the steps to the building. As you swung the door open, giggling from behind you alerted you that your friends had arrived.

"HEY, (Y/N)!!!" Your best friend, Mark, called out before slamming his body into you for a hug. You gasped but wrapped your arms around him and breathed in his scent.

"Hey, Markipoo. I love that shade of baby blue! It's so cute!" You complemented his shirt.

"Thanks, girl," Mark replied as he strutted around you, making you giggle. Mark continued his little 'show' with dramatic twists and turns as he swayed his hips with his eyes closed. You watch in horror as Mark accidentally bumped into another kid, earning him a snarl. Mark jumped and scurried over to you, clearly afraid. You immediately stopped giggling and met the eyes of the group of punks before you.

"Watch your step, fag," one called out as the others laughed.

"Hey!" You called out as Mark tried to stop you. "Don't talk to my friend that way," you said as you crossed your arms.

A flash of green caught your eye as one of the punks gained your attention. His bright green hair instantly made him stand out. You seemed trapped in his baby blue eyes as you gave him a good once-over. His lip ring wiggled as his lips curled into a smile when he noticed your staring.

"What'd you say?!" One of the other punks challenged as he took a step towards you.

"I said don't talk to my friend that way."

The kid laughed. "Look at this, the fag's cover-up girlfriend has to stick up for the pathetic loser."

"I said stop!!" You called out.

"Listen here, lit-" the same kid began to say before the green-haired punk pulled him back.

"That's enough, Derrick. Just leave them alone. Not worth the time. Let's go."

You glared at him as his dark outfit deeply contrasted your bright and colorful one. The group began to shuffle away, but the green-haired one stayed back and approached you. "Hey, look, I'm sorry for what they said."

"Save it," you said as you held up your hand. "It isn't the first time."

"I know but it wasn't right."

"Why do you care? Your friends make fun of people all the time. Just don't even bother," you said as you walked away from him with Mark trailing behind you.

"Wow, that was an experience. That cute guy was totally eye fucking you."

You almost choked on air. "What?!"

"The green-haired one with the sexy lip ring. He was so into you, (Y/N)."

You felt blush creep to your cheeks but willed it to go away. "Wh-I don't think he was looking at me. He was probably looking at my hot best friend."

"Darling, as much as I appreciate your complement, he unfortunately didn't seem interested in me. He was looking at you."

-----

You couldn't shake the image of the green-haired punk from your mind as Mark's words repeated in your head. As soon as you walked into English class, your cheeks flushed with blush when you remembered that he was in that class with you. You awkwardly slid into your chair trying not to think about his eyes watching your every movement.

As the class dragged on, you grew bored, as usual, and began to stare out the window. Out of your peripheral you saw a familiar tint of green and soon locked eyes with him. He mouthed an apology to you and offered a smile which sent your heart racing. You quickly darted your eyes away from his gaze and didn't look back for the rest of the time.

Soon the bell relieved you and you attempted to make a hasty escape, but were pulled back by the punk kid. You whipped around and faced him, your breath getting caught in your throat as you examined his facial features.

"Hey, I am seriously sorry about earlier. I know my friends can be awful, but they're my friends. On the other hand, I'd like to get to know you; you seem cool."

His thick Irish accent caught you off guard. "Uh, um, uhh-"

"She'd love that. Movies tomorrow? Pick her up at seven. Thanks!" Mark interjected as he came behind you and quickly pulled you away. You slapped his arm, earning you an offended look from him.

"Why did you do that?!"

"One, he's hot and two, you're lonely. I'm just helping you out, dear."

You blushed deeply. "I can handle it myself."

"And how's that going for you? C'mon, let's get out of here," Mark said as he tugged you down the hall towards the front door.

You linked arms with Mark and walked down the steps from the school. Mark chatted away about how the hot biology teacher was "totally coming on to him" which sent you laughing. You two had made it almost all the way out of the courtyard when a familiar voice called out from behind you. You stopped dead in your tracks and felt Mark tug you around so you faced the green-haired kid.

"Hey, sorry to interrupt you two, but I, uh," he stuttered as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously, "I- Can I have your number? I need to text you when I come to pick you up tomorrow."

You blushed deeply and mumbled an "ow" in response to Mark ramming his elbow into your side. You quickly spouted off your phone number and gave him a warm smile.

"I never got your name," you shakily said as your nerves got the best of you.

"It's Jack, " he paused and waited for your name.

"(Y/N)."

"Nice to officially meet you. Again, Mark, sorry about earlier See you tomorrow!"

You turned and headed home as your thoughts drifted to Jack.

They do say that opposites attract.

[Ayo! There's going to be more to this. I actually kinda got inspired to make it a book, but that'd be in the late future even if it did happen. Welp, thanks for reading! Please vote and comment. Love you all!]

[Also, bullying in any form is not okay. It was touched on in this imagine but I just needed to say something. We are all human and have equal rights and deserve equal respect. Just because someone has different tastes than you doesn't mean it's okay for you to make fun of them. And if you're being bullied, don't be afraid to stand up against them. And don't face it alone. Talk to an adult, parent, teacher, friend, classmate, etc. You're never alone♥]
